Dh and I are planning on going 10/30-11/6 depending on what we can get for plane tickets (still waiting for them to be released). We want to do the half marathon and would’ve liked an Epcot resort but they are super expensive. We’ve already stayed at por, POFQ, akl, and pop so want a new resort.

So here are our choices:
All star sports-$119/night
All star music-$119/night
All star movies-$138/night (only have preferred left)
Coronado springs-$217/night

We thought about doing a split stay but figured that might be more trouble since we will be doing the races. I’m interested in movies but only to have the chance at a refurbished room, not sure how likely that is. Any thoughts?

Have you considered renting DVC points? We were able to get a room at the Boardwalk for Saturday, Sunday, Monday in June for $750. If we were staying just Sunday - Thursday nights it would have been less. I would say it’s close to what you would be spending for Coronado.

But, with your options I would do preferred at Movies. I like the theming there best and preferred is definitely the way to go.

I contacted one rental website and they said the only one for our dates was Saratoga and it was going to be $1800. I would love to try renting but it may be too late.

Haley how much more were the rooms at Art of Animation double ouch oh yes not worth that

Of those choices I would say Coronado but not sure what the time line of construction is there. Also, if you belong to Costco look at travel packages for Dolphin. We got a good deal, around $200 per night, per room.

We aren’t members of Costco but thanks for your input!

It is nearly impossible to rent points for the weekend and days prior to the half.

I have multiple stays in each of the values. I like the theming of movies the best; music is my overall first choice, you can't go wrong with sports either.

AoA is way more expensive and IMHO no where near worth it.

_I_ would not do split stay.

I think aoa is close to our least favorite because of the price. I actually have word that bay lake tower and boardwalk have availability before the race weekend. We just won’t know until close to April if we are going or not.

I wasn't either but it was worth the basic membership to join and you can go to their travel page and just price it out if you are interested.
Do they only have deals for the dolphin and swan?

And I think there is something for a downtown disney area resort, I only looked at Dolphin.
Dh and I don’t love the idea of staying at the dolphin or swan. I looked into it last trip and it just didn’t appeal to me.

I have never stayed at any of the All Stars, the values turn me off. When we only needed one room we stayed deluxe with a discount code but as our kids got older we needed two rooms and tried CSR. It was right after they did a big room refurb and it was nice. The resort was very pretty, nice theme, easy food. However we did tire of busing everywhere as the week wore on, I think that wouldn't be so bad now with the advent of Lyft and Uber. Also it was cold the week we were there and only had one pool day which probably clouded my impression. :cold: But the pool theme was really nice.

It's great Disney has soooo many different options as we all have different taste. I was booked into POFQ for my trip before changing to Dolphin with Costco. I think the PO resorts look nice and I liked the idea of a boat to Disney Springs but POFQ wasn't included on the discount code for my dates and was just too expensive for two rooms. You might look at those as well?
