My wife and I are thinking of taking our son to WDW this year. Probably in Sept. since that is supposed to be a slow time of the year. Which resort would you suggest for a 15 month old. I am on the fence between BCV and VWL.

BCV would be good for SAB's kiddie pool area.
VWL would be good for it's proximity to the Magic Kingdom.

Which would you choose???? The more I read about the 2 resorts, the harder it is to decide :confused3 .

I am not a DVC member so I would have to rent points if that makes any difference.

Hi,

Could you split your trip between the two? Both are great!

Allison

DS & myself were originally booked at PO/Riverside 3nights and VWL 6nights.
Because we're going mid-late Aug I changed VWL to BCV. DS13 still wants his WL fix so I changed Riverside to WL.
Then I added on 5nights at Pop to the beginning of our vacation.

I have to think that you would probably go to MK and VWL is a great location to take the boat over. It's also nice to take a break in the day at MK and go back to VWL. Either resort is great though and it just depends on what your wants are.

Beach Club Villas are located near the Boardwalk and all its restaurants, bakeries, live entertainers, and not to mention (for Dad or Mom) a much needed quick walk to the ESPN Club! The resort is a walk or boat ride away from EPCOT and you can usually enjoy the nightly fireworks that go off at the EPCOT Resort from either BCV or BWV. In short, you don't need to jump on a bus or boat any time of the day/night to get a snack, drink, or entertainment. :flower:

We have stayed at both resorts.....just returned from BCV 2 days ago & we prefer VWL :)

My family prefers BCV. Even so, I'd recommend VWL for a family with young children. From their point of view the swimming will be fine in either location. But you'll have much shorter travel times to and from the MK, which is where you'll spend most of your park time. Shorter travel means fewer whines and more fun, and a quicker dash home in the middle of the day for naps.

I'd think with the little one you'd be going to MK a lot, if that's the case you should definitely stay at WL. That boat launch is too good to pass up! We stayed there this past Sept and my ds who is 5 and my dd who was 13 months at the time LOVED it.

You have two very good points regarding your 15mo. BCV would be great for the pool and VWL is great for its proximity to Magic Kingdom. If I were staying for 5 or more nights, I'd consider splitting my stay. If I didn't want to switch resorts or wasn't staying long enough to warrant a transfer, I'd just go with VWL. The resort is beautiful, kid-friendly, the pool is really nice, the geyser is fun to watch, the grounds are absolutely beautiful and the proximity to Magic Kingdom can't be beat!

Good luck with your decision!

:cheer2: CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST DIS POSTING! :cheer2:

I highly recommend the "eenie meenie miney moe" method-both places are wonderful. Whichever one you don't go to this time, go next! :teacher:

We just got back from a split stay at BWV/VWL with a 16 month old and 3 year old.

At 15 months, naps are the most important thing since he won't be able to do more than 4-5 hours in the park without one. And Sept is HOT, so you'll want the AC during naptime. So determine where YOU want to go and stay at the closest resort to minimize travel during nap breaks. The Poly works great for non DVC since both EPCOT and MK are a monorail away and you can keep him in the stroller if he's snoozing.

VWL does have lots of ducks and rabbits for entertainment which may mean more to him than Mickey at that age.

Have fun.

The thing I have with the WLV is you have to take transportation everwhere U go. At the BWV or BCV you can walk into EPCOT. Walk out of EPCOT to the monorail to MK. Or you can walk to MGM. The only transportaion you need is going to AK. Plenty of resturants around including the Swan and Dolphin. If it's complete quite,WLV. If it's stuff to do and all in walking distance. BCV or BWV are the only way to go......

If he'll be 15 months in September then I'd stay where you'd like to stay... If you like the nightlife, prefer EPCOT/MGM or would enjoy a sand bottom pool then do BCV. If you like the woods, might do some cycling, horseback riding, fishing or want to mouseboat in the big lake do VWL. If he's 15 months NOW I'd say do VWL because its the closest to MK or if there is enough time start with VWL and move to BCV.

If you plan on doing all the parks, then stay at BCV. IF you plan on doing MK at least 3 days, and might go to the other parks, then VWL is the place to stay.

Its a lot easier to take a boat to the park with a stroller as you just roll it right onto the boat.

IMHP I'd choose BCV. At 15 months all the parks will seem the same to him, while having the sand and water at SAB will be extra fun. You can boat to MGM and EPCOT, come back for naps, walk the boardwalk, spend time at SAB, etc., and generally avoid the busses.

Another vote for VWL. Like another poster said, he is not going which pool he's at. I'd think you'd want to be closer to the MK.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

I think we will end up at VWL. My wife likes the fact that we can take the boat to the Magic Kingdom. We stayed at the Dolphin on our honeymoon and she liked taking to boat to Epcot and MGM.

When we had an 18 month old with us at WL one of the fun things was the surrey bikes and a walk over to the petting zoo and Trails End restaurant. We used the "quiet" pool at the Villas as there were never many people in it and as someone else said at that age they don't know one pool or park from another. One of his favorite things was riding all the different types of transportation especially the boats and buses. Hope you have as great a trip as we did. Try the BCV next trip.
