Which non DVC hotel are you nostalgic about?

My first stay on Property Stay was Contemp Garden wing 5 nights with air and tickets in Dec for $500! We then did the Polly the next year. I love the Volcano pool and the resort utoo. After a 10 year absence we did Pop and CBR. We have stayed at POP 5 times. This will be the resort we stay at on Friday and Saturdays.

We love the Poly. The Grand Floridian also holds a special place in my heart as we honeymooned there.

For us it's POR - We got engaged there while sitting on one of the fountains and a year later we spent our honeymoon there. It's still my favorite resort on property.

Polynesian...it is where we made our first visit to WDW with 2 kids in 1986 and we always stayed there until........DVC 1996.....that was scary for us, but we had free passes until 12/31/99 so that did it for us.......Old Key West used to be named Disney Vacation Club. At first we used to hear that it was only for OLD people......imagine!!!! Look at it now!!!!!

The FW cabins and with the $95 exchange fee, we'll not stay there again. I get my fix by riding bikes around the area, but it's not exactly the same.

We've never stayed at PORS, but have pool hopped there, and we enjoy eating breakfast at Boatwrights. I suppose I can't claim nostalga over what I've never experienced, but I would have liked to stay there.

For our "non-DVC" nights, now, it's Pop...we like that resort, enough to go back.

CBR is the first that comes to mind because that was the first placed we stayed. All Star Movies runs close second since it was our first full week stay. I think my three stays at YC are to blame for my buying into DVC. YC spoiled us so much that our stay at CRS seemed like a big step down, so that trip after visiting friends at VWL, we decided DVC was for us.

..! Remember River Country?
OP this was a great thread! I've enjoyed reading everyone's happy memories!

Yes! We took some honorary DNieces with us in July '01, and that was our last trip to RC. We had some great days there.

For my kids, it's Fort Wilderness. On our first trip in 88 we stayed in a Fleetwood trailer (cabin), then camped for several trips as it was all we could afford on a HS teacher's salary (tent 2X, pop-up, tent) and then again in a cabin in 2001.

I want to stay at CSR with DH -- I stayed there once and know he would like it -- we've eaten at Pepper Market several times -- and now with queen beds :goodvibes

We also love Dixielandings (still have the lifetime refillable mugs!)

For us it would be the Dolphin. We love the place and still sneak in a stay now and then. It is so fanciful and magical there. I just love looking at the resort, its like being in a dream!

Wow, how about all of them.

POFQ - My favorite moderate and had a few nice trips there. Daughter loves the pool and I enjoy the coziness of the resort.

POR - My second moderate. It is funny because daughter’s first trip was in the Bayou section of the old Dixie Landings and I hated it. Couldn’t get into POFQ one time and we got a room in the Mansions’ section which I loved.

Poly – Love the theme. We stayed at the concierge on one trip and sitting in your room at night looking at the MK. What a feeling.

GF – Did this before daughter was in the picture and talk about pampering. The staff was fantastic. First time at Victoria and Albert’s.

ASMo – We were there for the grand opening of the resort purely by luck. They gave us special opening day stuff which is in a box somewhere. For the price you can’t beat it.

CS – I was on a trip for work and stayed here instead of the hotel everyone else was staying. It just opened and was in the middle of construction. It was a stressful meeting and I stayed a couple of days afterward. The next day I was lounging at the pool (which is a great pool) enjoying the sun and peace. A waitress walks up and asks if I want another cocktail. Nirvana.

AKL – My daughter would have just as been happy sitting on the patio looking at the animals roaming the Savanna and not even go to the parks.

Pop – A trip with my daughter and her friend. We took a day off and just lounged at the pool. She wanted to stay at the 60’s section, I asked for it and got it.

Contemporary – Spent the Bicentennial (yes I am old) here with two friends while I was in college. I remember sitting on the lawn by the towers watching the fireworks go off and hearing the concussions reverberating off the tower.

Ft. Wilderness – Camped in a tent before one stay at the Boardwalk. Great fun. Smores with Chip and Dale before watching an outdoor movie. Riding the golf cart to the lagoon to see the Electrical Water Pageant. Grilling steaks.

Did I leave anything out? We did stay at OKW paying cash (guess that counts) that lead us to buy at the Boardwalk. Stayed at the other All Stars. Again, you can’t beat the price. Swan yes, Dolphin, no. Not military so Shades of Green is out.

Nothing new here..POR! :goodvibes I wish there was a DVC building there. Thanks to the nice military discount, we're taking part in a grand gathering at POR in May. I bet I'll be missing my DVC than. :rotfl:

It was always AKL. It was our first resort trip onsite and we just loved it. So when they built the AKV, we just had to buy points there!

Now, I'm hoping for a Villa at the Polynesian Resort.:thumbsup2

Probably, the Yacht Club.

But I like every DVC over ANY hotel room.

Love the Riverside (old Dixie Landings); if we run out of points, and need a Disney fix, we just about always head for the Riverside.
