I definitely want to stay at a Moderate resort but cant decide between POR and POFQ. CBR is out cause of the pool rehab and CSR there are too many mixed reviews i have seen in various locations. I also like the ability to take the river taxi to Downtown disney from the PO resorts. This will be our first trip (myself, wife, daughters 8 & 6 yrs) so want to make right choice. Can anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages to each of these Port Orleans hotels?

I would choose CSR over both of these, and I have stayed at all 3. BUT if I had to choose between POR and POFQ, I choose POR because I like the quiet pools. POFQ is smaller and that appeals to many.

CSR would be my first choice too. I have stayed at all three as well. POR would be my second choice. It has Boatright's and I like the food court their better than POFQ. POFQ has alot of fans, but I prefer POR. They both have a boat that take you to Downtown Disney. The boat picks up at POR first. POFQ rooms need to be refurbished. (Atleast the room we stayed in did. It had dirty carpet, bedspread had holes, and the room was musky.) You will have fun whatever you choose, after all you will be at disney!

I love POR. We stayed there last Feb and are returning in 3 weeks.

We loved renting the Surrey bike. Want to fish this trip. Also try thr Carriage ride at night. I love the fact that they have the quiet pools that are not crowded. At least not at the time of year that we go. The boat to Downtown Disney is nice as well. Plus you can take the boat between POR and POFQ if you want to try their pool or their food court. We did that. I love the AB section of POR the most. Such lush grounds. We saw lizards, rabbits, turtles all sorts of small wildlife while there.

Depending on when you're planning to go -- POFQ Doubloon Lagoon pool is closed from January 28 until March 15 (at least!)

POR, I really like the quiet pools.

POR, food court has more options, more space, and frankly it's more quiet.

Theming is fine at each :)

I am trying to decide on a moderate resort as well. We have already stayed at the CBR and we're leaning toward the POFQ because of the waterslide! It's closed?

It's closed until March 15th (at least -- sure seems like construction at WDW doesn't stay on schedule these days).

I've only stayed at POR, but I can't cheerlead enough for that resort. It is absolutely gorgeous, peaceful, serene, themed beautifully, has lots to do, a great food court, a great full service restaurant - it's just a VERY good resort.

Only downfall (and it's very minor) is it shares a bus with POFQ and is usually the second resort to be picked up and dropped off.

POFQ is smaller and more compact than POR. So if your someone who doesn't mind a morning walk for breakfast, POR is great. I actually enjoy strolling along POR in the morning. The only thing I dont like is that we have refillable mugs, so then we have to walk back to put them in our room before going to the parks for the day. I think POR has the best food court of anyone on Disney property too!

POFQ for me. The size of PORR was too big. Buses were shared between PORR and POFQ in August 07. On many occassions the bus would pick us up and perhaps pick people up at 1 or maybe 2 bus stops. We would then be full and headed over to the park. I thought if I was staying at PORR it would bug me that I maybe waiting along time for a bus if it keeps getting full on the 1st or 2nd bus stop.

Haven't stayed at POFQ, have stayed at CSR and POR.

DH and I really loved the relaxing atmosphere at POR. Quiet, peaceful, just a lovely place. :goodvibes

Since the buses are shared with each other, I'd go with POFQ because you are on/off first. You can use the services at POR anyway so you might as well take advantage of the smaller size of the resort.

I'd pick POFQ too. Since POR and POFQ are sister resorts you can use any of the pools at POR. Likewise POR can use POFQ, when it's open. Also POFQ has its own bus stop at MK in the evening. A huge benefit for a small resort. The hot tub is very secluded at POFQ.

We just stayed at POR in Oct. and Dec. of last year and had a blast both times. We loved it! The surroundings were beautiful and quiet. The atmosphere appealed to us more than the POFQ.

Good luck!

Okay since the cool looking Dragon waterslide at POFQ is closed and my kids really wanted one...does POR have a waterslide? Is it open right now?

My vote would be for POR!!! I have stayed at POR, POFQ, and CSR. POR was our most recent visit two weeks ago. It is awesome!!! DH said it is his favorite of all the resorts, even better than my favorite BC!!! The grounds are awesome, the food was great, the service was good, and the entire atmosphere was just wonderful!! It is so "Gone with the Wind"!!! We stayed in Parterre Place right on the river and just across the bridge from the check in, restaurants, marina, and bus stop. We could look out our window and see the boats going by and it wasn't a very far walk to Ole' Man's Island. We never had a wait for a bus longer than 5 minutes. We shared buses with POFQ one time. The longest wait was for the boat to DTD. If you have ADRs at DTD, get a large head start because the wait for the boat could be quite long (ours was 30 minutes) then it takes atleast 25 minutes to get there from when you get on the boat. The ride to DTD is very relaxing and it was so wonderful to see the treehouses. I'm sure we will be going back to this resort!!!

POFQ is alright, but just not as relaxing as POR, but if you just want smaller and have to have the New Orleans theme, then it is the way to go. If you have small children, the pool at POFQ would be fine. Mine are now teenagers so they are a little too big to enjoy it and would prefer a larger area.

CSR is fun but is most massive. When we checked in, we were told to find our room, go back to our car, out of the check in parking and turn right. Go about two miles and our room would be right there on the right. That is not a good sign if you are wanting to be close to the restaurants, etc!!!

POR does have a waterslide. My kids like this pool better than FQ. The whole theming of POR is great and relaxing. I did not care for POFQ.
