Which is better: Flo's V8 Cafe or Pacific Wharf Cafe?

I am confused as well as others on why you can just pick one. If you are only going to be in the area of Carsland for one meal and have dinner reservations somewhere special then I get it.
Someone else has already posted the fact that the Wharf is right next to Carsland and it would be very easy to get a meal from each and eat them at Flos. I agree the view of the Cadillac Range from Flos cant be beat. We split meals all the time, so that we can try more.
Carsland is definitely comfort food. My Son has a huge appetite and enjoys the food and the proportions. My favorite at Flos would be the breakfast tamale.
However at the Wharf I would go for lunch or dinner. My favorite at the wharf is the Pacific Wharf Cafés Shrimp Louise, and my Sons is the Clam Chowder Bread bowl.
Isnt it a wonderful world when this is your dilemma? Have fun! :tink:

I know that they're close and totally get that thats a viable solution for some people... BUT we have a dinner reservation that night, and all the other days we're there we've already planned out where we want to eat (I know, I'm crazy, right?). I also am a dancer, and when I'm not traveling, I eat really healthy and not too much... so even though when I go to DL, I don't mind being bad food-wise, my stomach refuses to listen. Lol. Literally, I have such a small appetite that if I were to split something with my fiancé, I'd still be too full to go and get something else. And way, way too full for dinner! :scared1: So its one or the other... unfortunately. But you guys are all really good at wanting me to try both!! Lol. :rotfl:If only we were there for ten days... or a month... ;)

We took our whole family to Flo's (all 8 of us), and had a blast. The atmosphere just can't be beat. The last night we were there we just sat out infront of Flo's, without having anything to eat, and had a wonderful time people watching. There are some tables and chairs by the gas pumps which are perfect for watching the cars, lights, and people. DH took lots of pictures.

My vote was going to be Flo's for breakfast and then Pacific Wharf for lunch. Both are easily sharable. And if you're worried about portion size I recommend ordering from the kids menu, this is what I do 80% of the time the other 20& I split with my son.

We prefer Flo's. Pacific Wharf Café is not a good value for our family (an entire loaf of bread with a small cup of soup for $9+). Both are tasty, though.

Small cup of soup? Not the times I've been there. There's plenty in there to make it a full meal, especially when you're eating the bread along with it. Easily enough for lunch, which is when we've had it. We usually end up tossing a lot of the bread. I could see it working for dinner too and we're not light eaters either. Maybe you hit them on a bad day and they didn't dig the bowl deep enough or gave you a less than generous pour of the soup. I've just never heard anyone complain about the size. As for price, it's on par with any other counter service meal in the park. I've never felt short changed there.

You can get the soup in a cup on the side which makes it easier to save any leftover bread since it won't be soggy.

Thank you. I read that above and may try it on our next trip. I'll have to remember a zip lock bag to keep it fresh.

Try a kid's meal at Flo's. I'm pretty sure it's the same turkey or roast beef, just on a roll. Or, and I know this is controversial, but just don't eat all of the food you order. I'm not saying waste money on getting one of everything just to try it all. But if you're spending the money to go to Disney, and it's only $9 for the entree, just get it.

Also, can't you order bread bowls at Pacific Wharf as a loaf of bread and the soup or salad in it's own container? That makes a meal smaller when you remove the bread.

Thanks everyone. I'll be fine ordering a normal plate off the normal menu, I was just saying I'll be too full to go over and then try another restaurant on top of that (and so will my DF... he was definitely not going for it when I mentioned the idea to him). Right now, my fiancé Trent is leaning toward Flo's, mainly because he loves comfort food and we have tons of Boudin's right around us (I've also heard repeatedly that the bread-bowl-soup combos are better in SF?). I'm still on the fence because you all make them both sound so good, but this thread is helping. When did the food at the DLR get soooo much better??? :hyper:

^^^^This! If you can work this for your plans, I highly recommend it. Flo's is so cutely themed and you have a nice view of RSR, and I love their Brioche French Toast. Pacific Wharf is my all time favorite place for lunch. Lovely "ocean side" seating, you can sometimes hear the Mariachi Divas, and there is something pretty awesome about eating a delicious sourdough bowl (I recommend the clam chowder or the chicken apple salad) with a Karl Strauss beer. :goodvibes

I used to LIVE for the broccoli cheese soup bread bowl at PWC but this year the soup just wasn't the same... watery. The bread can't be beat, but since you said you have access to Boudin's near you, then go to Flo's.

Super excited to try both this trip!! They are our top two choices for DCA dining this time around.

Last time we only got to Taste Pilots & Wine Country Trattoria.

Does anyone have an opinion on Cove Bar?

I definitely prefer Flo's over Pacific Wharf Cafe for the view. Also, the salted caramel "french toast" for breakfast at Flo's is the best thing on the menu at either place.

Cove bar has well, bar food. But it is tasty. We go there and have appetizers for dinner sometimes. My favorite is the lobster nachos ...oh and the habanero margaritas !!!!

I vote for Flo's for breakfast and Pacific Wharf for lunch! Both places are amazing but Flo's is my favorite breakfast spot in the park. Salted caramel french toast and country potatoes.... mmmmm.

I personally am not a fan of Flo's. I've had two dinner dishes there, and was not that impressed. But it's probably personal. I did enjoy the brioche for breakfast though. I'd much rather go to the wharf.

If you are looking for good corn chowder, you need to go to Storyteller's in the GCH. It doesn't come in a bread bowl, but is served with bread. It is the best I have ever had.

I enjoyed both Flo's & the Pacific Wharf Cafe but if I HAD to choose only 1 I would pick the Pacific Wharf. They are both completely different though although they both offer great dining views. We try to hit the Pacific Wharf on every trip though! :)

what are the favourite lunch items at either venue?

We always get 2 clam chowder & 2 broccoli cheese soup in the bread bowls at the Pacific Wharf Cafe (we share them). At Flo's we have only tried the roast beef w/gravy & the pork loin w/coca cola BBQ sauce. Both were very good but way too much food!!
