Which DVCers out there can still find something nice to eat at Disney?

This thread just proves how different people's tastes can be. I see several of you mentioned liking Flying Fish, and while we USED to like it, we had two really bad experiences there in a row, and we never go there now. Same goes for O'Hana. It used to be wonderful...not so much anymore.

One thing I've noticed even at home, restaurants I used to like aren't what I want in a meal anymore. Sometimes it's because a different cook/chef or menu and other times it's that our tastes have changed.

But currently we like:

Teppo Edo
Le Cellier
Whispering Canyon (didn't know they had a buffet as mentioned above)
Ragland Road
Earl of Sandwich
Boma
Yak and Yeti's (TS) (service is still a bit sloooow)

And we want to try:

California Grill
Citricos
Narcoossees
Tusker House
and even one special day, Victoria and Alberts

So true! This is exactly why I was wondering what people DO like. While I might not have the same tastes as the DVCer next door I do think that there are some quite enjoyable meals to be had at Disney and was wondering what others had to say...

There appears to be many that I forgot and have been reminded of by the responses here! Forgot about Beaches 'n Cream and the ice cream sandwiches we get in the parks.

We're trying Yachtsman Steakhouse on this upcoming trip. The next trip after I definitely want to do the tea at GF!

You're right - it's not a "buffet" per se, I just lumped it in with them. It's the All You Care To Enjoy Skillet I was referring to. I guess I see it as a buffet that they bring to you

We like Mama Melrose in the HS

The best CS we've found is the Tangierine Cafe in Epcot

Lots of others but those are the two we hit every trip ...

I'll start - we LOVE:

Le Cellier: Cheese soup, pretzel bread, risotto, PEI (best place to get them from!) mussels
Kringla: Gravlox and egg and roast beef (only when it's rare and fresh) sandwiches and the almond pretzel
50's Prime Time: Pot Roast and chocolate milkshakes!
Sci Fi: Butcher steak - so excited they brought it back (Oh - guess that's a downgrade I did notice but it seems to be back on the menu now)
Buffets: O'Hana, Biergarten, Cape May Clam Bake, Whispering Canyon Cafe
Snacks: German pretzel and brats, cheesecake brownie from BW Bakery, carrot cake cookie at DHS, cheese plate in France, soft-serve ice cream except for that stuff they sell near Peter Pan in MK, and yeah - we love the McDonald's fries too - now without trans fat!


We have not tried Le Cellier but it is in our plan.
Sci-Fi was great.
Buffets - Ohana, Cape May - yes. Biergarten - no way Worst ever!
Park Fare was decent buffet but has declined over the years.
Best restaurant is seafood at Fulton's. Ohana is probably second.

If you like pot roast, you MUST try the pot roast at Liberty Tree Tavern. It makes the pot roast at 50's PT taste like old tires. Because it is so good at LTT, I got it at 50's PT and thought it was not good. I also tried the pot roast at Boatwrights and it was horrid. And at Rainforest cafe, it was the worst ever, more gristle and fat than meat.

One that I haven't noticed yet here is Il Mulino New York Trattoria at the Swan. We dined there last year and it was wonderful. The service was also amazing. A little story-on an earlier trip, we had a reservation at this restaurant and when we arrived, it was chaos. They were way overbooked, the wait would have been quite long, and the hostess was mortified. There were a number of folks having an obnoxious attack over the situation (some at the top of their lungs!!), but I believe that life is too short for that, especially on vacation! The poor hostess really appreciated our attitude. When we eventually opted to find another place for dinner, she gave me her business card and asked me to book with her personally if we decided to return. We already had ADRs for the rest of that trip, but I took the card home and when planning our next trip several months later, gave her a call. Not only did she remember us, but when we came in for dinner, we received a bottle of wine on the house. A nice one, too! And the food was amazing. We are going back on our next trip in September.

We have also never had a bad meal at Artist's Point or Jiko. We love the Plaza Restaurant for lunch at the Magic Kingdom. (milkshakes. mmm). And my DH always gets lunch at Backlot Express when we are at the studios.

I'm a relatively new DVCer (joined in 2007), but I've been going to WDW for years. We typically eat 2 table service meals per day, and there are still many restaurants we enjoy. While I totally agree that the quality and variety of food offerings has declined in recent years, there are still plenty of places we enjoy eating. Here are a few of our favorites:

agree, armed with some research as to recent reviews as to quality & menus, not difficult to find a TS to meet one's standards. CS r another matter imo, still; at least what my family considers 1 "good" one in every park.

Many restuarants turn over their menus & streamline offerings, just the fact that WDW did so within a year of DP being introduced is bone of contention

We most lament Columbia Harbour House & the new chicken nugget in lieu of the LJS type & the disappearance of the bread bowl that contained the chowder. We now either visit Starlight Rays or Cpalace for lunch, quite the deal

CaGrill's fillet ranks up there with the best ive eaten & u cannot beat the view

YSteakhouse was a disappointment, perhaps because we expected just abit too much from the service, etc.; def overpriced

LeCellier is a fav, wasn't thrilled with difference in size of fillets that were served to my DH & DS trip end of June. We expect a small portion, yet struck me as odd to see one nearly twice the size of the other when both adult portions. DS stopped off @ teppanyaki when we strolled past within an hour & was refueled

Coral Reef (very limited menu) is consistently good, esp lobster bisque which i usually just pair w/a salad (and pay for my portion OOP when using DP) while family choses steak, etc., nice view & have always had a well-trained servers

We used to enjoy H&V, selected for Fantasmic pkg, always could find something to eat and many of the servers where 'golden-girl' types (pros & charmers), haven't seen them the last few visits. Additionally, the buffet area always seems to be most messy here for some reason. We did try MMelrose, nearly unedible; complained when we got home & was told there was a new chef...still, once u've had a resoundingly bad meal, hard to bring urself to try it again kwim?

IMO the WL roarin forks has very fresh items, can be slow; yet a notch above most.

Funny and just goes to show again how people's tastes are different. Biergarten is one of the ones we try to do 2 times a trip.

They only have the pot roast at lunchtime. LTT is opposite the paddlewheel boat and the Hall of Presidents. Right next to the Liberty Bell. Big rocking chairs on the porch.

At most places, I haven't noticed the food quality going down, but I have noticed that many places offer very similar foods and the level of service declined. However, most of that has been at the 1TS restaurants.

We haven't had any bad meals or experiences at any of the signature restaurants.

Our favorite restaurants are:
Artist Point
CA Grill
Citricos
Boma (best and most unique buffet at Disney IMO)

We also love the Grey Goose Lemon Slushes at Epcot (France), the Rainbow margharitas in Mexico, Dole Whip Floats in MK, Zebra Domes (Boma and/or Mara), cinnamon rolls at MK Bakery, and ghiradelli sundaes at DTD!

We have been going to Disney for many years and these are the ones we NEVER missed visiting at least once one each visit.

1.Ohana's-love the table side service and bread pudding.
2.Wolfgang Puck Express- great food served fast and very reasonable for what you get.
3.Yakkatori- A lot of food cooked fresh. We love the ginger ice cream.
4.Coral Reef- We recieved the best service there we have ever gotten in Disney.
