Which DVC resorts are close to which parks?

We are strongly considering DVC. SSR is near downtown Disney where we spend the least time of any at WDW. My family loves MGM and Magic Kingdom. Thinking resale may be the way to go for us. DH is a teacher and we vacation at Prime Time.

Thanks for any help!

Villas at Wilderness Lodge are closest to the MK, but WL is NOT on the monorail (so you take a bus or boat).

Boardwalk Villas and Beach Club Villas are the closest to Epcot and Disney/MGM. It's a decent walk, or a boat ride to those two parks.

We own at BCV and love the location.

We own at the BWV and find it very easy to walk to both Epcot and MGM ... no other DVC property other then BCV offer walking into a park.... Love our location

Thanks NJ for the reply.

We're leaning towards BCV too. It seems to be the resort that is not available as often through resale.

Keep in mind that with resale you don't get the 50 years that you would at SSR. You don't have to stay at your home resort, you can stay at any of them. As far as traveling during 'prime' time. I have found that it is harder to get rooms in early december(MVMCP), October (MNSSHP and Food and Wine Festival), and May (flower and garden festival).

For what it's worth, I just clicked on The Timeshare Store link, and counted for sale:

BCV: 12
BWV: 24
HH: 9
OKW: 22
SSR: 13
VB: 22
VWL: 4

I was looking for a second page somewhere, since only four resales for VWL seemed a bit lite. :drinking:

MG,
Sounds like I need to go shopping :-) My DH is going to retire from teaching in a little less than 5 years and the deal is we have our vacation club first. Thanks for taking the time to look at the link. I must admit I never have. Off to do that with my coffee :earsgirl:

I guess my thought is that all DVC resorts are close to all the parks! So don't pick a resort for DVC ownership for it's distance from a park, pick it for all the 100's of other things that make up the 'personality' and character of each DVC resort; atmosphere, quiteness or not, restaurants, rooms, parking, friendliness, view, shopping, etc.

I live about 1,600 miles from the Parks. When I'm at my DVC home away from home, I'm within 4.1 miles of the farthest park from my resort. Disney provides excellent transportation to all the parks from all the resorts. I may have to wait 10 minutes longer for a bus, and a 10 min longer bus ride to one park or another from the various DVC resorts, but hey, I'm on vacation, I'll enjoy the sights, the people watching and relax!

So in my view, walking to EPCOT from BCV or boating to MK from VWL or busing to MGM from OKW is all pretty much a wash and they are all fun to do!

Since you are likely to go at peak season - keep in mind BWV has the standard view rooms for less points. You would likely need the 11 month window to get them.

For me, I have 2 "ultimate" experiences. Walking to Epcot to see Illuminations and then heading back to either BCV or BWV. Seeing Wishes and then taking the boat back to VWL. Those are the best 2 for me!

Yep, as your reading above, BCV and BWV are close to Epcot with a very nice boatride to MGM. Both are beautiful resorts, among the top two out of 3 in my opinion for onsite resorts. The third I would consider is WVL for the boatride to MK. It is a beautiful resort as well. I would have a stronger recommendation for BWV or BCV than WLV because of it's proximity to two parks, and the availability of the Crescent Lake area, with several restaraunts and a few activities to choose from without necessarily going to the parks. With the huge crowds at peak times, it is wonderful to step out of the parks to the Crescent Lake area. You'll want to consider Storm Along Bay in your decision, it's a heck of a pool and weigh that against the availability of 3 bedroom GV at BWV, and standard view lower points availabilty. If being close to the parks is desired, I don't think either SSR or OKW will meet your needs. You may want to consider renting points for your next vacation and going down and trying out the Crescent lake area resorts, swiming in the pools, eating in the local restaraunts, seeing the BWV community Hall, using day care, and going out to Jellyrolls one night. You could split your stay between each of the two and see which you like best.

Good luck with your decision.
