Okay, I’m planning my next stay for October this year and I’m looking at the studio sized rooms. I’m a DVC member and according to my (so-so) math skills, I have enough points to stay at any DVC hotel in a studio room (must be handicap-friendly with a roll-in shower).

What hotels in your opinion(s) are the best in terms of theme, view, space, location, and overall ambiance of the hotel? Are there any hotels that recently got a refurbishment that make them even more desirable?

BCV is long gone. While the HA is specifically bookable, they don't hold it when all the non-HA are gone.

Book home if it is still there. If it is not, expect to stay at Saratoga if you can get it at 7 months.

If you plan to spend some time at the resort then I would go with AKL. The resort is absolutely beautiful and they offer a lot of activities ( night vision viewing, painting classes, bonfires - just to name a few ). We found the rooms as spacious and Poly and BC. We loved the theme of the resort as well. The only drawback is the location. It is farthest from MK, HS and EP.

My other choice would be BC but it is a tough one to get into.

You didn't say which your home resort is. In October, studios at Boardwalk and Beach Club are hard to book at 7 months because people like to stay there during Epcot's Food & Wine Festival.

I don't know how many HA studios with roll-in showers are available at each resort. Those numbers may narrow your options even more.

Make a reservation at your home resort today, just so you have something. Depending on which resort it is, you may be too late. BWV and BCV are probably gone already, they book at 11 months out during the Food & Wine festival.

The entire fall/early winter season, late Sept through the end of the year, is the busiest time of year for DVC resorts. If you can't get your home resort, or if you don't want to stay there, I'd advise being on the phone or the member site the day the 7 month booking window opens for your dates, or your choices are going to be very limited (SSR, OKW, maybe AKV).
