Which Dinner Show?

We would like to take in a dinner show while we visit WDW next year. In looking at the cost, we will probably only do one. My two daughters will be 8 and 10 at the time of our trip. Which would you choose - Hoop Dee Doo or Spirit of Aloha? Why?

Thanks!

We did the Spirit of Aloha about 7 years ago, it was called the Hawaiian Luau back then; but it looks like it is still the same. I thought it was a great show. My son was 6 at the time, and he liked it. We sat close to the area where they were performing and they called him up to dance with them - it was so cute! We did the Hoop Dee Doo Review about 4 years ago, and this was good too, but we didn't like it as much. The food is about the same at both. It is served home style, but I did like the barbeque better than the Polynesian food - I think I was just in the mood for a barbeque. I would pick the Spirit of Aloha show if I had to choose, BUT if you can go to the Cirque De Soleil instead - it is a far better show and your kids will be on the ends of their seats the entire show - it's spectacular. You can always catch dinner the Rain Forest in DDD first - my son loves that place. Have fun!

Between the HDDR and the Luau...I'd *definitely* go with Hoop Dee Doo Revue. We've done both and trust me, the kiddos loved HDDR waaaayyyy more! It's lively and definitely more fun! It will definitely please the kiddos more!

However...if you want to please yourself, then the Luau might be your best bet.

Kiddos=HDDR
Adult=Luau

Been to both and enjoy HDDR more.For one thing I love fried chicken and they have it at HDDR.I like the humor and songs at HDDR better than show at Luau. :goodvibes :flower:

I tried the Spirit of Aloha last year (me, mom, niece 5 yrs old & 2 nephews - 5 and 9). We had a really good time. This year we are trying the Hoop-Dee-Doo since everyone i've asked liked it better.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the kids will enjoy as much.

We'll be doing HDD this trip for the first time & Spirit of Aloha next trip. I did a poll a while back and the results were something like 60% HDD & 30% SoA. The other 10% was a mix between Mickey's Backyard BBQ, skip 'em all, off site, Cirque.

We just went to HDD for the 7th time a couple weeks ago. We've never been to the Luau, but I can say with out a doubt, our kids LOVE the HDD as do we. Every time we go to WDW the first thing out of the kids mouths is "Are we going to the HDD?"

Our youngest son (just 13) loves the character Six Bits. At the end of the show he was doing the both arms extended, bowing to Six Bits. Six Bits nodded to him from the stage and then made his way by the table on his way out, tapped my son on the shoulder and said "thanks a lot" to him. That made his week. This is the kind of treatment we've had almost every time we've gone to the HDD. I know it's expensive, but it is the best money spent there is when going to WDW.

That's just one families opinion, but we think it's great.
