Which Deluxe Resort?

First of all, congratulations on winning a trip to WDW. How exciting. Since you have a little one, the CR or Poly would probably be a great choice for your family. Having access to the monorail is a big plus; especially with little ones. No matter what your choice you really can't go wrong with any of the deluxes. Have a wonderful time. :)

You did no such thing as offending me because I enjoy staying at the Contemporary. I only said what I did because your not the 1st person to makes those same comments about the Contemporary and I was only giving some examples of how other WDW Resorts look great on the outside, but the inside comes no where close.

I would certainly agree with that. I have stayed at the Beach Club and wasn't terribly impressed by the layout of the resort or the rooms(some hike from the lobby!..and rooms were..okay)..but the exterior is quite pretty. Storm Along Bay is another huge draw to some people..but to me..I don't care for it. I like a pool to be a pool and a beach to be a beach..combining the two..don't like it. Everyone is different. Much the same can be said for the Poly. My husband loves it..and wanted to stay there this trip..and my kids think it's "Brady Bunch"..they don't care for it. There is nothing that really JUMPS out at you..but that is EXACTLY what he likes about it. It's laid back tropical feel. We will likely choose that for a time when we can go ourselves.(who wants to hear whiney kids!) Me..I'm a Lodge Lady all the way!(obviously) I guess the kids are the same.

We love the Lodge also! I had us booked there originally with the old package code with the water parks and all, we didn't really want the water parks just hopping, so when the new code came out I tried to switch over, WL wasn't coming up with that code, but the CR was, actually was less because I was having to book courtyard before at WL. I decided to switch to CR (we love it, have stayed there several times, but weren't lucky enough to get a refurbished tower room on our last visit), basically because the rooms are bigger and I can put one girl on the daybed ( they're getting bigger now!). We also like being able to walk to the MK. By dropping the water park ticket thing and just booking hopping, I added an additional day to our tickets for only $200 more than CR was originally costing us. DH's major complaint about WL.....if only they ran the monorail over to it! :rotfl:

You know I've stayed at the Poly..with the monorail..and it was nice..but I have to tell you we still took the water launch over to the MK. I guess it just isn't a big deal to us having the monorail at the resort. It doesn't make a difference to me..and I wouldn't pay more money for that feature alone. It wouldn't matter to me one way or the other if the resort..be it Poly, Contemporary or if the WL were to have a monorail stop. Just hasn't been a priority. Others wouldn't stay without it. Everyone's different. I kind of hope that they don't decide to make WL a monorail resort..given it's location they could easily add it. I've heard it discussed a few times. If they were to ever add it, I'd hope it would be done in a way so as not to ruin the ambience of the resort. I'm also sure they would raise the rates even higher! For now..I don't mind the water launch..in fact, I quite enjoy it.

With the way the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Magic Kingdom and TTC are set up I don't we will ever see the Monorail added to the Wilderness Lodge. Now things might change in 10 years or so but the way it's set up right now I don't see it happening.

I agree, we're funny, we don't usually take the monorail to the park, we like to ride it from resort to resort, like for dinner. I enjoyed the water launch from both the Poly and the GF. Like you posted earlier, the Poly didn't do it for us, either. The only Deluxe we have stayed at that we have no real desire to stay at again. You're also right about the rates going even higher. Funny, in June of '04 we stayed at the CR garden view on a GA resident code for $149 a night in June, could have booked WL for $129. We did stay at WL in October of that year with a general code for <$200 a night. This trip the rate was over $300 a night rack rate :scared1:
