Cosmic Rewind Queue Situation

What is the current setup of the Cosmic Rewind queue after leaving the final pre-show room? I remember reading that they were testing have a more organized, roped queue to avoid the mass of people who feel the need to rush out of that room. Did they end up sticking with that after the trial period?

As of late March the set up was the same as its always been, a mad dash to the ramp once the doors opened.

Yes. In the past I've always stood over to the left of the room and just waited for it to empty or mostly empty and then joined the back of the crowd. I'd rather wait a few extra minutes than deal with the mess of people rushing out.

When we were there in March they did have a black line extender thing on the far side, which I guess is better than nothing when/if it piles up there (happened to us twice), but it's literally next to nothing.

I do find it interesting how people rush the doors to be ‘first’, only to join another line on the other side. Truly it makes such a small difference compared to the full time in line. @MidnightMeeko I think you have the right idea for a more relaxed experience.

I don’t rush out to save time in line, I rush out because that room triggers my claustrophobia and sensory issues at times and being right at the doors alleviates it considerably. Being first out means I’m not overwhelmed by people anymore.

My trip in April they did have ropes up so when the pre show was over , only the door far left was open to continue on. It seemed to feel less crowded.

"First" can mean you got on the ride before it broke down for the people behind you and then you don't get to ride it at all that day... or you got to the next ride before the wait went up another 30 minutes... etc.

I don't do the rush to be first in line etc, but I do understand why some people do it. I just hate when they push past others to do it.

This is it right here. I never do, but I'm only ever riding solo (even on trips with my partner, she can't handle the ride for health reasons), so it's easy for me to slip into the front in the first pre-show room when they're telling folks to fill in all available space. Being at the door in room 2 avoids the bum rush. The people knocking into folks, knocking kids over are just insane and tbh it's why I wish they had a better setup for this. The stretching room in Haunted Mansion gets "peopley" like that (the reason I always hang out by the wall) but the bum rushing at Cosmic Rewind is 10 times worse. I'm always worried someone's going to get hurt in there.

I found it got better after they added in the ropes, limited the doors that opened into the line and stationed a CM on the other side of the ropes watching everyone. That was my experience in mid-Mar. The crowd spent a little more time in the final pre-show room as the throttling of the line started in there with only 1-2 doors open instead of 3 and just seeing a CM seemed to have brought a little semblance of decency back to a few people. Haven't seen anyone straight up shoving multiple people into walls as they plowed their way forward since they started this.

Unfortunately we’ve been on this ride when those who knew the exit, ruined the experience for others. The CMs spent about 3 mins asking guests to move to the centre of the room as some were actually opening the exit door to skip the pre-show but because they were doing that the rest of us were waiting. And sadly once one group left there were a number of groups that followed.

Glad to hear they’re trying some options to help move the groups safely.

Oh, @kylenne, that stinks, and I hope they get the rushing figured out for you snd others in that situation. I am solo a lot on this ride, and I was always stunned by how nasty and aggressive people (I primaily mean the adults!) would get, shoving and pushing to get past me - one person, clearly not an accomplishment that will buy them any time. I have been almost knocked ovef a few times! The day I started hanging back was the day I found a whole other reason to love that ride. I cannot help but enjoy smugly watching on as the masses clamber ridiculously all over each other to save themselves maybe 3 minutes . Winning… Last time, there was a nice couple doing the same thing, and we looked on and laughed and laughed…

I’ve seen this happen more than once and it’s so awful. For safety reasons but also because it totally ruins the experience. I always wonder if this is someone’s first time on the ride when things like that happen, and I’m heartbroken for them.

People who go all the time don’t know how privileged we are and it stinks. Same as the jerks loudly saying the stretching room spiel, etc.

I was there last week. There was indeed a more guided/roped off situation after the last room. We always hang back and are the last to go in there to avoid the rush so I can’t speak to how well it worked.
