My financee and I will be honeymooning there in September, but we haven't booked the specific "island chain" yet.

What's the best place to stay in CBR?

Caldonia -

Congrats of the upcoming marriage.

When we stayed at CBR we stayed at the island directly across the bridge from the main building (which houses the restaurants, shopping, etc.) We found this to be very convenient as we had small children at the time - it made the trip to the food a lot quicker. :p I believe the island was Jamaica. We had a top floor room and a view of the water - made for some nice pictures too!

If you don't mind walking I would think that any of the islands would be just fine.

I would highly recommend Aruba. It is directly across the lake from the main area, Port Royale. There is a bridge close to take you across to a small island that has a play area and then over to the main area.

Congratulations Caledonia! :)

I stayed at CBR in May and requested the Jamaica village. I thought it was nice -- very pretty colours and there seemed to be fewer people because it was across the lake from the main swimming pool and food court (it's about a 5-10 minute walk). Jamaica is usually one of the first bus stops so you'll typically be able to get a seat on the bus :p

If you want to be close to the food court and main pool, you'll want to stay in either Martinique or North Trinidad (I forget which building numbers you should ask for)... Barbados is closest to the Customs House (check-in).

You should check out the FAQ for CBR when you have a chance :)

They are all great villages. The only really long walk is from Trinidad South. Be sure to watch the Epcot fireworks from the beach in Martinique at 9 PM. I have pictures of the villages on my web site.

....LOVE the quip about your "FINANCEE"!! My personal fave...NONE, but then again, I did NOT like CBR (sorry, JMHO:rolleyes: !!)

Hi! Congrats on your upcoming marriage.

We have stayed at CBR four times. Each time in Martinique. The distance to the foodcourt/marina/store is very short no matter which building in Martinique. We did not find it noisy nor did we find the quiet pool crowded. We have always gone during school vacations as well.

I will say that if we stayed again, we wanted to try Aruba because it is across the lake and there is a bridge to walk over. But it is dark at night, there are lights but it is not as well lit as the pathways. This would not bother us, but for some it might.

Good luck in planning and just a note, when we went we could not "book" a specific island, only make a request. (Each time we got Martinique though - I called the room controller one day before the trip and made sure)

Congrats on your upcoming nuptuals. We stayed in Aruba this past May and would go back there in a heartbeat for the following reasons:

* Beautiful view. The Aruba beach looks directly out at Old Port Royale (Food court and gift shop).

* Quiet. The Aruba beach does not have a playground thus there were few extremely small children around.

* Close proximity to bus stop and Aruba is often the second stop on the bus route.

* No problem with bugs in our second-story room. However, my sister did have some bug issues while staying on the first floor.

* An approximate 8 minute scenic walk to the Food court.

Good luck with your decision..you will not be disappointed wherever you stay!

Thanks all for the input.

We stayed in Aruba 2 nights last year and the only part the bothered me was the walk across the bridge to get a drink. The view of Port Royale was nice though... I guess every building has it's benefits and shortcomings.

We booked our trip today through a travel agent and saved about $50 compared to if we booked it ourselves through Travelocity. For the sake of curiosity, we got round trip airfare, Alamo rental car (Grand Am), and 7 nights at CBR for $1651 (all taxes and fees included).

Now if we can just make it through the wedding.............

I suggest jamaica. I love the colors, and it's a beautiful, not too long, and very romantic walk across parrot cay island to Old Port Royale. A nighttime drink at the pool bar was always our #1 romantic thing to do while staying there. Often you can catch a bit of fireworks while sitting there, if timed right. Congratulations, and I can't think of a better place to honeymoon than my favorite resort...CBR.
