'Where's your prince' and will this tale end 'happily ever after'? Sept 11 - Complete

Yay! Les Chef de France! It's one of those places we haven't gone, but really want to! :confused3 What a great way to see your first Illuminations without the crowds!! :thumbsup2 Yay for riding Soarin' twice in one day!! And MS! That is too funny about Zaheer being able to ride that but not Splash! Some things just get to people differently! What a great night in Epcot! I hope you do make it on TSMM!!!!!!!

It sounds lovely watching Illuminations while you eat! That chicken looks good...I don't see the potatoes, though--were they hiding under the chicken?

Love the dress and all your pictures. Glad you enjoyed Chefs. I really like it there. How wonderful to be able to watch Illuminations from your table.

:cool1: for soarin! I am guessing that you never did ride Orange mission space if the green side made you dizzy. If you DID go back and ride it then..... :worship: I got dizzy or orange, so after that I am a green girl! :rotfl:

You guys were troopers! I would have canceled that reservation rather than run :rotfl:

Love the dress, you looked great, I could not tell at all you had been sweating.

I agree with the others, Zaheer is too funny. Can't wait to see how he felt about the Orange side, or if that is now on list of things not to go back on. :)

Sorry you felt queasy on Mission: Space, maybe because you had eaten not long before. I went on it for the first time this past May, it was there for the 2 trips before then (2004 and 2010) but I chickened out the first time and didn't want to go by myself in 2010 (DH wouldn't go). So I was glad this year that My dad, BIL and his dad all went with me, BIL did Orange and the rest of us did green. I liked it, I didn't think it was too bad, I would probably do orange some day.

Would you recommend Chefs? I've thought about trying it, but always end up somewhere else.

I was wondering the same thing as BerrysGirl. Was the UK pavilion interesting to you guys? Did Disney do a good or bad job capturing the "spirit" of the UK? Sorry if these are silly questions :upsidedow

We've never eaten at Chefs, but we did snack at the bakery there and everything looked sooo good! The fuit tart was to die for:cloud9:

I love the World Showcase. My wish is for someday to be able to just stroll though without any kiddos, and just check it all out.

Agreed on the profiteroles -- we thought the same thing.
I dislike getting any row but 1 on Soarin. If they would put a "feet catcher" under each row it might be better, not that it would touch the people's feet, but a black line would be less distracting than all kinds of feet hanging down. Johnny's been drawing up the plans for this device and I expect Disney will buy it from him any time now. :rotfl:
Mission Space green team makes me nauseated, so I've never tried orange but Johnny loves it!

Love your update--we had the same problem rushing to make Le Chefs!

Glad you were able to enjoy your meal and Illuminations! I wish I had known you were in the booth...I would have called you! :yay:

Very pretty dress for dinner!:cutie:

Thanks Debby! I hated rushing for that reservation and it would have to be all the way in France! :lmao:

I was glad to be able to relax once we had made it and knew we would be seated. Watching Illuminations was great! We didn't know we were going to be there ourselves. I was silently wishing for the phone to ring but we had no such luck. I'll be sure to let you know next time!

Aaw thank you - it was the one I decided to keep out of the two I bought in the sale.

I'm glad you had fun at Epcot! It's good to hear about your experience with Mission Space. We didn't try it last time and I'm still a little hesitant since I can get motion sick sometimes. So you felt queasy even on the tamer version?

Thanks! Yes, I did feel queasy on the tamer version but like someone has mentioned we had only just had our dinner so am guessing that had some effect on this result. I think you should be okay on the green version.

I'm glad you liked France! Did you get to see Remy from Ratatouille? We got to see him in March when we went for lunch and he was adorable!
IMG_1388.JPG

He wanted to come home with us until we said we had pet cats :lmao:
I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't obsessed with the profiteroles. I'd much rather have the creme brulee any day!
So I've always wanted to know this... what's it like, being from England, walking through the UK pavilion? Was it interesting or did you more or less feel like you wanted to skip it to see other things?

Thanks! No, we didn't get to see Remy as we had made a dinner reservation. We already knew this though so weren't too down about it and plus we got to see Illuminations instead. I want to return for lunch one day so I can get to see him. Thanks for sharing that picture of him.
:rotfl2: at the conversation you had with him!
We never tried the creme brulee but am pretty sure we will happily be skipping the profiteroles next time.
Okay, so you want to know my opinion on the UK pavilion being from England. It's a bit tricky as it was night time. However, I did return later and have to say I enjoyed my time here but would happily spend it in other pavillions. I enjoyed the phone booths as they are not as heavily used here any more - mobile technology means they are not as noticeable as they once used to be.

The stuff in the shops was nice as was seeing the pub and chippie. You can see pubs/chippies on most streets here so that bit is accurate  However, I think I remember seeing some gardens (my memory is vague) which is not that common in the UK unless you specifically visit a major park. Overall it's good for others to see and I enjoy how Disney have thought of every little thing but it's not the same as home. Sorry for the long response - I got a bit carried away :rolleyes1

Great update...glad they were still able to seat you! I hate having to rush, but trust me, we've done it on more than one occassion :lmao: You look lovely btw!! I love the pictures of Zaheer with the NASA helmet on:thumbsup2

Thanks...I was glad of that as well! Lol I'm not great with time keeping so am normally rushing to places!! :lmao: Aaw thank you hun...I didn't feel it at the time after all the running I had done to get to the restaurant. Haha yes, they are funny - it's the only time he wanted to put a hat on. I think secretly he would love to work for NASA! :rotfl:

Did I miss this update? How????

I'm so glad you had a good evening at Epcot. I do love Epcot (almost as much as MK). It is so pretty at night.

I felt horrid on Mission and I have never nor ever will go back.

I agree that the first row is definitely the best on Soarin'. It's not the same when you are in other rows.

Okay, Zaheer is too funny wanting to try Mission Space orange, but not wanting to ride Splash Mountain. I'm with you, I don't understand the logic either. :lmao:

Yay it sure can't be beaten! After this experience I made sure I waited for front row on every ride.

I know right? :lmao: Where is the logic in that?! I'm glad you understand and when I mentioned it to him he just said 'I don't mind heights (referring to Soarin') or being in Space (note: he did not ride the tea cups so that defies the spinning logic!) but just do not like drops!' Completely baffles me.

Great update! I'm glad Disney is understanding about being late to ADR's, sometimes it's impossible to get there on time! Glad you enjoyed Illuminations, I LOVE it! :lovestruc

I don't like not being in the first row on Soarin' either, this trip we actually requested being in the front!

I love Mission Space, but Brandon absolutely refuses to go on the orange side ever again, and I'm still not brave enough to do it alone! Maybe next trip!

Thanks! I'm glad they were understanding as well and still let us have our dinner for the night :thumbsup2 I totally get why you LOVE Illuminations!! It is my favourite night time show and I returned loads just to see it. Zaheer enjoyed it as well but not as much as me.

After being in the second row this time I made sure we waited for front row on any upcoming rides. It is worth it and I love seeing the screen without feet obscuring my view

Lol I love that with you guys it's Brandon that refuses to ride the orange side! I hope you get to experience it on your next trip. Let's just say there will be a review of it coming up but whether it is from Zaheer or the both of us you will have to wait and see...

Yay! Aaw I hope you get to go to Les Chefs de France one day! It was a great place though I would book a late lunch or early dinner so you get to see Remy! :thumbsup2 I know, right? I couldn't believe our luck with the shows - first we got to see Wishes from California Grill and now Illuminations from France!! :cool1: It was amazing and totally made both these meals worth it!

I was happy we got to ride Soarin' twice in one day!! I found that completely confusing and was like 'eh you can ride MS but not Splash?' :lmao: I suppose like you said things get to people differently. Thank you - apart from the rushing at the start we had a great night! That will be coming up soon!!!! ;)

It sounds lovely watching Illuminations while you eat! That chicken looks good...I don't see the potatoes, though--were they hiding under the chicken?

Oh it was amazing! Haha funny you should mention that as I noticed it as well! No, there were no potatoes hidden under the chicken and I never bought it up as the portion was huge anyway. I'm not sure if the potatoes are cooked in something which means we can't have them or if the chef simply forgot about them! I guess it's one of those things we will never know... :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Aaw thank you :goodvibes We enjoyed chefs and being able to watch Illuminations from our seats sure was the icing on the cake.

I'm very happy we got to ride Soarin' for a second time without waiting 70 mins in the queue  I think the green side dizziness was due to having just eaten...does that give you some clue to what I decide to do :lmao: Yay on being a green girl! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I think we were just caught up in the fact that we were at Disney World and really wanted to try and make the reservation!

Aaw thank you Pam :goodvibes Let's just say it's a good job you can't smell anything from the photos as otherwise you would've definitely be able to tell I had been sweating!! :lmao: Sorry if it's TMI!

Right! All will be revealed later on in the TR ;)

Oooh can't wait to hear what happens with MS Orange!

I can't wait to share the story about MS orange side! :cool1:

Sorry you felt queasy on Mission: Space, maybe because you had eaten not long before. I went on it for the first time this past May, it was there for the 2 trips before then (2004 and 2010) but I chickened out the first time and didn't want to go by myself in 2010 (DH wouldn't go). So I was glad this year that My dad, BIL and his dad all went with me, BIL did Orange and the rest of us did green. I liked it, I didn't think it was too bad, I would probably do orange some day.

No worries - I think you are right in that I had just eaten not so long ago so that had some impact on the way I felt. I don't blame you for not wanting to go on this ride on your own - I wouldn't have done that either!

I'm happy you got to experience it this time round. Ooh I hope you get to do orange side some day :thumbsup2

I would recommend Chefs for the atmosphere and being able to see Illuminations. The food itself was good but I tasted better at some of the other TS places. I think I would return just to see Remy or Illuminations again at some point - not for the food. Hope that helps.

The UK pavillion was interesting but I preferred being in other locations as they held more appeal for me personally. I'm sure some other Brit DISers may disagree with me. Your questions are not silly at all and Disney did a good job at capturing the 'spirit' of UK. As I mentioned in the response to Berrysgirl red phone booths are being reduced due to mobile technology taking over. The pub/chippie totally represents UK  however due to the bad weather we get we don't really see many gardens (only if we visit the major parks in our 'so called' summer season). Btw I love The Beatles theming in the shop - my mum would love that ;)

We've never eaten at Chefs, but we did snack at the bakery there and everything looked sooo good! The fuit tart was to die for:cloud9:

I love the World Showcase. My wish is for someday to be able to just stroll though without any kiddos, and just check it all out.

Funny you should mention the bakery as I returned there later on and let me say I tried one of my favourite snacks here ;) I'm glad you found the fruit tart to die for - I could say the same about one of the other desserts. I'm guessing they are all very good!

I hope you get to stroll WS on your own one day. I think that is the best way of touring and I do get to do some of that later on. I noticed the difference of being able to do stuff without having to consider anyone else and can go as far as saying that was one of my favourite days :cloud9: I'm giving stuff away yet again! :rolleyes1

Yeah they just didn't do anything for us
I feel the same and made sure I got row 1 on any upcoming rides. Ooh great idea with the 'feet catcher' :thumbsup2 Johnny should so send his plans to Disney and when he makes his millions just remember us poor people as well :lmao:
The green side did make me queasy but I'll never know if that was because of the ride or if it was due to the amount of food I had just put away!

Did I miss this update? How????

I'm so glad you had a good evening at Epcot. I do love Epcot (almost as much as MK). It is so pretty at night.

I felt horrid on Mission and I have never nor ever will go back.

No worries Kathy!!! I'm glad you are here now :goodvibes

I have to totally agree about Epcot at night. It is so special especially being able to tour WS.

:lmao: at your story of Mission Space! I totally understand not wanting to go back on it though.

I am very late to your TR but I have spent the last 30 minutes catching up. :thumbsup2

You really did get a lot in during your first couple of days. I'm impressed!

I can't wait to read more. popcorn::

:welcome: Sophia! I'm glad you are here and you are not that late at all. I'm just starting out on day 3 of a two week trip!

These boards helped me with all my planning and I'm so happy I found them before our trip.

I'm uploading pics for my next update right now so will be coming up soon.

In the meantime I'm going to go and catch up with your TR :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a great first time at Epcot. I'm amazed you managed to head out for a mid-day break, Ross literally has to drag me kicking and screaming out of this park :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear if you attempted the Orange side of Mission Space. I'll tell if you will :rolleyes1

We sure did! :lmao: at being dragged out from this park. I think I was more willing to leave as it was EMH that night and there was no way I was going to last all night long without having a break. Don't worry I dragged Zaheer back to this park on plenty of occasions and even have a solo tour coming up later.

I wish I could tell you but that just wouldn't be fair :rolleyes1

We got up for 9am (the early starts sure weren't happening! :rotfl:) and started to get ready. I switched on the television and found football!! Woohoo!!! I was happy to stay in the room for a bit and watch the ending of a great game between Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers. There was actually an important Manchester United match taking place the next day and now I wanted to watch it. However we had plans to go to Typhoon Lagoon. What would I end up doing?

We left our room at 10am (I was worried about not getting on TSMM) and got to Everything Pop. I ordered the Mickey waffles and as I could not have the bacon/sausage was given some grapes instead. I had these with waffle syrup and loved them - the BEST thing I had tasted!

DSCF0969-1.jpg

Zaheer got the veggie calzone (for breakfast!) I got an orange juice and Zaheer went with the apple juice. He also got a blueberry muffin.

DSCF0970-1.jpg

We got a coffee and left for 11.15am!

We waited in the shade for the bus. It came in 15 minutes and we got to DHS pretty quickly. I took some pics of the buses whilst waiting.

DSCF0973-1.jpg

We went through bag check and into Celeb 5&10. I had read about personalised badges on these boards and wanted to get one. However I was told they had stopped doing them.

We had a look around in the shop before carrying on. We took some pics of the Sorcerer's hat and other surroundings before heading to TSMM.

We got FPs and got in line which said the wait time was 25 minutes. The queue was a lot of fun so it didn't even feel like it was that long. We took loads of pictures.

I got a dreadful score and obviously Zaheer beat me. He also got the highest score in the vehicle - great! :rolleyes1

Once we exited the ride we realised that our FP time was the same as 50s PTC so we spoke with the CM and explained the situation. The park would have closed by the time we would have finished eating so he gave us some new FPs which we could use right away! We decided to come back later.

Zaheer needed to go to the restrooms so I had a look in the shops nearby. I searched for Club Penguin stuff for my sister but there wasn't much of this merchandise available.

I got a shows list at this point and decided to go and watch Beauty and the Beast. What an amazing show!! We loved it! Well I did more than Zaheer. It was soo well done and I was singing along to all the music.

Again loved this show - it was so good :thumbsup2

After this it was time for some more rides. Zaheer didn't want to go on Tower of Terror so I went on by myself.

DSCF1009-1.jpg

I must admit I was a little nervous as did not know what to expect. The theming was very good though seeing the video didn't help with my nerves. So in I go holding on to both sides with the dreaded audio playing. The first drop came which I enjoyed very much and relaxed after this. The drops were soo good and being able to see outside was awesome. I LOVED this ride and wanted to go straight back on. However, Zaheer wanted to watch Indiana Jones. As we had done stuff I wanted so far we headed this way. I did not manage to get a picture to prove I had just been on Tower of Terror but do remember to get one next time round. Zaheer got a frozen banana on the way which was meh - nothing to write home about.

We got to Indiana Jones and loved the start and getting the extras. The CM was very funny and getting people to hold different poses which were hilarious. I didn't think i would enjoy the show much but it was great and put together very nicely.

Ater the show we went to Starring Rolls for some lunch. They had no vegetarian options or butter finger cupcakes. I got a red velvet cupcake which was very yummy and Zaheer got the banana split which he enjoyed as well.

After our yummy treats we applied some sunscreen and realised the Countdown to Fun parade was about to start so went and claimed our spot.

Coming next: Countdown to Fun parade and will I convince Zaheer to ride Tower of Terror?
