Ok we are headed back down to WDW. We have been a few times and DH and I love AKL and the YC. I love the YC more!!!
Well this time when we go we are going to have our daughter with us. When we go she will be a little over two.

We have been considering the monorail resorts but I have a hard time warming up to them and how much they cost. But I know it would be so much easier with having our baby girl with us.

Tell us why you love the resort you stay in when you have your little ones with you. We need help!!!!:)
Thanks all

LOL, if I had young kids and wanted to make the trip all about them, I'd stay at the Nick hotel. Good friends of mine stayed there the week their little boy turned three and he was in heaven. He got to meet Blue and Dora and Diego. Dora spent a ton of time with him. The older one was thrilled about Spongebob, etc. The kids had the best time ever - couldn't have picked a better hotel for them.

But if I were staying at WDW, I'd just pick whatever hotel I liked. I don't think a 2 or 3yo will care much which hotel they were in, so long as mom and dad were there. I don't see a two year old prefering AKL to the Beach Club or Coronado Springs to Carribean Beach, you know?

If I could swing a monorail resort, I'd do that...because with little ones you'll want to spend a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom and the monorail just makes that so much easier. If the monorail resort was any kind of hardship, I'd skip it and stay at whatever hotel fit my budget and had a theme I liked. :)

The difference between the Poly and YC is $329 and $315 per night respecitivley in value season. The Contemporary is even cheaper. When bringing along children a monorail resort is great.

Highly recommend a monorail resort with little ones. We took our daughter when she was just over 2 and chose the Polynesian because it was on the monorail, and close to the TTC to get to EPCOT quick if we wanted to. The hardest transports for us with her were to DTD and AK (ie the times we had to take a bus--except for when she slept on the bus home from AK). A bus just is not as much fun as a monorail.

Plus the Polynesia is neat to walk around (I walked with her all over the place and looked at the statues, trees, flowers, etc.) and she got to see some neat things.

Also, the monorail resorts (and Fort Wilderness) have boat launches as well to travel to and from AK.

We are going back soo with our DD (5) and DS (2) and staying at the Polynesian again. Someday we'll do AK to see the animals, but right now, the convenience of the monorail wins. If you can do it, staty at a Monorail resort.

WL would be a great choice. You have the boat to MK. Ours kids love WL. My 2nd choice would be Poly.

If you would like to stay close to the Magic Kingdom, but don't want to spend the extra money staying at a monorail resort, the Wilderness Lodge is the best choice. We really enjoyed our stay there in 2004, and plan to stay there again in 2009. :)

I may have misread that above bolded comment, but I'm reading it as you're saying that you can take a boat to and from AK. Did you mean to say MK? There are no boats whatsoever that go to the Ak (Animal Kingdom). If you meant to say MK (Magic Kingdom) then that's correct that you can take a boat there, from the monorail resorts, plus Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness :)

Statues? What have I missed? Where are the statues? Are you confusing this with something else or have I missed out?!

I'm going to Tikiman's site now.

I agree, though, about walking the grounds if you stay at the Poly. Walk them during the day to see the flowers, colors, detail of leaves, etc. And walk them at night for the beauty of that, too. :)

Sea Spray...yes, sorry I meant MK (typing too fast, my DS(2) was rummaging through my office at the time).

Cool-Beans the "statutes" are the various Tiki carvings around (we called them statues because that is easier for a 2 year old to grasp).

The Poly is ideal for small children. The first trip we took we stayed at CBR. I tell you...two small children, sleeping at the bus stop did not make for a very lovely vacation when they are woken up to get out of the strollers, fold up the strollers, carry them on with all of your junk...get the idea?? LOL. I needed a vacation when I got home!

Then we discovered that you don't have to fold up the strollers when you get on the monorail. Just wheel them on. That alone is priceless!

Monorail resorts are much much more convenient
with young children. If your looking for value then I
too, recommend WL. Otherwise I'd also say Poly!
Happy Planning!!!:thumbsup2

Hard to argue against a monorail hotel, but the YC and BC do have THE BEST pool for little kids, Stormalong Bay. You may have noticed it has sand and a large shallow area on the YC side. The Contemporary lacks a good kiddie pool area, I think. My 4-year-old niece (who has stayed at YC, BC, Poly, Contemporary, GF, and BWI--yes, we are Disney addicts), consistently asks for the YC because of that pool.

If you love the YC, stay there, again. I think its way more centrally located than the monorail resorts. Yeh the monorail resorts are convenient to the MK, but the YC is convenient to Epcot and MGM.

I have to disagree about the pool for little ones. While the pool is the best on property, it is too big for us and our 3-year-old. I worry about him swimming off and getting lost. I think the Poly and GF have much better pools for little swimmers.

If you want the best pool area for a little one, again I'd have to vote Nick hotel first. They have a section fenced off for little-little kids. No pool. Just sprinklers. Nobody is going to drown and you don't have to hold them. They can run (or toddle :) ) about and play in the water while you sit in a chair. :)

But, at Disney, I'd probably go with CSR as far as pools and play areas for kids go. There might be better, but that's the one I'd pick. :)

We have stayed twice at the Beach Club Villas with our grandchildren. Last year they were 3 and 7 mos. Our granddaughter loves Storm along Bay. Cast members are at the shallow side and build sand castles with the children. We like to be able to walk to Epcot and walk or ride to boat to MGM. We have found we like MGM just as much as Magic Kingdom with small children.

Oh wow... we go all over the place with where we stay. My favorite non-DVC resort in the Deluxe category is the Polynesian. I just love the theming there and the location is the best IMO. Over all I just feel very at home there.

If I were to pick DVC I would be stuck between OKW and BCV I think. Though VWL is in there as well. For DVC I really like staying all over the place.

Moderates for kids I would probably pick POR first and then CSR next. Those are great as well.

So if I could pick anything and stay anywhere w/o worry of cost, it would be the Polynesian :)

We were at WDW last September. Can't believe it's been that long already. We stayed off property this time and will never do it again. It was a last minute decision to go and we wanted to save money. The convenience of being at a resort is way more important than price. So we are starting to save for next year to afford a vacation to WDW in October 2008. When we go I have decided that we will stay either at the Poly, the Contemporary or Caribbean Beach. Most likely either the Poly or the Contemporary.

I liked GF although its ridiculously espensive they really went out of their way to make our trip relaxing and enjoyable.

Thank You everyone.
We are really thinking about the Poly.
We are warming up to it more and I know there are a lot of people who really talk highly of it.
We live in Upstate NY so WL is too much like home. LOL
We have never stayed on the monorail and would really like to do that . Especially with a two year old.
We were just having a hard time warming up to any of the reorts there.
I love the GF but my husband does not really wnat to stay there and we want something more of a reort feel so we are not interested in CR.
So I guess Poly it is.

Once again thanks everyone!!!:)
