Though it's frequently suggested to go back to the hotel for a swim and nap it won't be possible for us. We are staying with family about 30-40 minutes away.

Any suggestion where we will be able to take a load off for a while ?

If you're in the MK, you could head over to TS Island. You can sit down, relax and enjoy a cold soft drink while any kids in your party explore the caves, etc. of the island. There may still be a crowd around, but for some reason, things seem to move at a slower pace, and we just feel more able to relax there. I'm sure that someone on these boards will have some great ideas for you!

Try going to one of the resorts, like Wilderness Lodge, for a relaxing lunch, lounge in the lobby and just take it all in for a little while.

Go to one of the resorts for lunch and then relax in the lobby.

The Wilderness Lodge is an excellent choice. We stayed there in December, and even though we had a wonderful room there, I found myself relaxing in the lobby during our afternoon breaks. The rest of my family would take a nap, but I'm not a napper. So I would just kick back in the lobby and soak it all in while they slept.

Hi ...

There are a few places we like to go to relax a bit and either cool off or just take it easy. They are:

MK - I've forgotten the name, maybe Exposition Hall. Anyway, it's to your right as you enter the MK - next to Tony's Restaurant. It houses the photo shop and a large meandering quiet area with cut-outs for pics and loops of classic Mickey cartoons. Another spot is Cosmic Rays in Tommorrowland (can be crowded at meal time).

Epcot - The Land has a number of options and a good food court. Wonders of life also has alot of space and activities and refreshments.

MGM - We like to sometimes find a nice quiet corner of the ABC Commisary (sp?) - I've even had my DS nap there (constant TV loops can be a bit noisey, though).

Animal Kingdom - This one is a bit tricky but we have used the restaurant that has Donald's Breakfastosaurous as a place to sit for a bit or even Pizzafari (they are large and don't always use the entire place for serving).

Another thing if heat is not a concern ... from the MK we love to visit any of the hotels on the Monorail loop or take a launch over to Fort Wilderness and visit the petting zoo and "Tri Circle D" barn. The Wilderness Lodge also has a wonderful lobby to relax in.

Well .... hope this helps.

Have a great time!

We often try to spot an attraction for a break, at least on September trips where park hours are shorter. Our choices:

For MK: Hall of Presidents
For MGM: The Great Movie Ride or Millionaire
For Epcot: Ellen's Universe of Energy

You can't eat in these places, but you get air-conditioning, a seat, and at least a half hour to use said seat. It's a nice break.

If it is not too hot out, grab some drinks and hop on the tain at MK. The entire loop is about 25 minutes. You can get on at Main Street, behind Splash Mountain, and in Toontown.

Time it before your lunch, then get off at Main Street and walk up to Plaza Restaurant (on right hand side, heading over to Tomorrowland) for a relaxing lunch with great cool ice cream!

In the MK, in June heat => Hall of Presidents. Air conditioned sanctuary for the tired, the overheated and the breast-feeding. On one hot July afternoon, I once counted over a dozen nappers - and those were the obvious ones. Don't misunderstand - the show is very moving and should be experienced at least once while wide awake. But the air cond, the seats and the darkness let you relax...zzzz

LOL ! Well since I already have seen it I won't feel as obligated to fully pay attention.

As much as I dearly love these shows........I sometimes fall asleep when I don't even want to. The first couple of days before vacation, I'm sure I don't get enough sleep. Then, as I walk around the park, sometimes I'm hot and tired. The Hall of Presidents is perfect for rest; it's dark, air-conditioned, and with comfy seats.

I have gotten a bit of rest also in a cabanna on the beach at The Beach Club.

At MK, the Expo Hall and Hall of Presidents are both excelent choices. Also, the Riverboat Cruise in Liberty Square is very relaxing if it's not too hot.

From MK, take the boat to FW - have lunch at Trails End. If you have kids they might like the petting farm. There is also a kids playground when you get off the boat - my DD had some fun there. We are also planning to go over to Tom Sawyer Island this trip (as previously suggested)

From AK - spend some time over at Rafikis Planet Watch - over on the train.

At MK, go to Country Bears and Tiki Room, both A/C and able to sit and relax. Also on main street there is a movie theater / gift shop that plays old disney cartoons.

MK--Upstairs at Pinnochio Village Haus in Fantasyland or Columbia Harbor House in Liberty Square.

--Boat from MK to GF for lunch at Grand Floridian Cafe (bright, lovely, relaxing and casual atmosphere, with tasty food), and then wandering/relaxing in the GF lobby.

Epcot--Lunch at the Biergarten.

--Pastry from the Patisserie in France eaten in the little shop are in the back of France.

--Smoothie at Wonders of Life Pavilion, seems less crowded than the Land.

--Out International Gateway for Beaches and Cream, or Spoodles.

Studios--ABC Commissary never seems crowded.

--3-D sound booths in the play area at the back of Sounds Dangerous.

Animal Kingdom--Rafiki's Conservation Station (or whatever it's called now), particularly the 3-D sounds of the rainforest booths.

From MK we like to take a break and go to the poly for a quiet lunch at the Kona cafe. The food is great and you get a nice relaxing monorail ride.

You can even make the monorail ride your break. Try to get a car that's not too full (easy mid-day) and just ride around and around in the cool until you recover. We met lots of families using this as a way to get their little ones to sleep. We rode about 1/2 hour mid day as great retreat.

I have to agree about Tom Sawyer Island. Aunt Polly's restaurant is a fun place and is almost never crowded. Have a PBJ or ham and cheese, a lemonade, and an ice cream sandwich, and wathc the riverboat go by.

Awhile ago, someone on these boards suggested hopping on the monorail and riding for as long as you need to rest. This sounded like a good suggestion especially since some kids seem to find it easier to fall asleep when they're moving!
