Where to put crib in 2BR at BWV

Hi all! We will be staying in a 2BR for the first time with DS. We are also going with my parents. They will be staying in the studio portion of our 2br. We would like to not put our DS's crib in the living area so we have somewhere to go while he naps etc., but I am concerned about having his crib in our room--I'm not sure any of the 3 of us will sleep as well as we could. Is there anywhere else in the unit where his crib can go? What have others done? When we stayed at OKW I noticed that it was possible to put his crib in the laundry room but the rooms at BWV aren't designed the same. Any thoughts or ideas? Are the bathrooms large enough and laid out where we won't wake him if we go to the bathroom? If so, is there enough ventilation? Thanks!

I think there is adequate room in the walk in closet to set the portable crib there.

That's the only place I can think of that would work with the goals you have of staying away from "living space".

I suppose the front hallway of your unit is another option, but if anyone gets up early that won't be protected from the noise.

I agree with Granny (as usual ). BWV has the NICEST walk-in closet in the master bdrm...I swear it is bigger than my closet at home (and, we have a nice closet at home). When we were at BWV, we pulled the bag valet in there for dh's suitcase, and then I set up the ironing board in the closet so I could set mine and dd's suitcase on it. Even after having those two items in there, I think I could've thrown a party in that closet!!!

My first thought, when I saw the closet was, "This would be a great place for the pack 'n play....if only dd would use one!!"

We have requested a full-size crib. I wonder if it would work in the closet? Is it stuffy in there that you noticed? We will have to scope it out when we get down there.

I "think" the crib would fit in there. We were going to do that last Sept when we went, but couldn't bring ourselves to putting our DS in the closet (images of Children's Social Services kept coming to mind.) It wasn't until after we got back that I saw postings from people that do it all the time. Now DS sleeps on the pull-out sofa, so we don't have that issue.

When our kids were "crib size" we would request a full sized crib. We never thought to put it in the closet, so not sure if it would fit, can't answer. But there is plenty enough room in the master bedroom. We just put it on the side of the bed and it worked just fine for us.

Maybe I'm wrong, but from what I saw of the Disney "full size" crib, it wasn't. The ones from ABBF are bigger. The Disney version looked like one of those in-betweener ones that aren't really used for toddlers - just infants.

That said, I honestly think EITHER would fit in the BWV closet! HEy, if I can sit in there and comfortably stretch out and eat dip and chips, your kid and a crib could surely fit. (And yes, I've actually done that.)

I should also note that I have slept in a closet many a time! When I came into this world, I was a "surprise" baby with 3 sibs and no room of my own. My Mom didn't want to put me in a room with my noisy siblings, so she made a "crib" of sorts for me in a hall closet ner her room. It was one of those ones with the bi-fold doors, and it was just deep and long enough to accommodate a crib mattress! SHe then had a rail put up, and used the bi-fold doors to hush out the house noise. I'm sure in today's standards it would have failed the safety tests, lol. The washer/ dryer was across from me, the hum put me to sleep, she says.... I finally "came out of the closet" when I was old enough to pull up. My mom said she could only imagine the strange looks on folks' faces when they would call and my older sisters would answer by saying, "Mom can't come to the phone right now - she's putting the baby back in the closet."

If the closet route isn't your style, I also think you could put the baby crib over by the far corner (near the balcony doors) of the master bedroom. There is a chair you could move out of the way(maybe to the big roomy closet, LOL!) and that should afford you the necessary space.

Disney's full size crib, is full sized. It is a stainless steel jail type crib, not the pac'n'play found in the closet.

When we go down with the grandchildren, our daughter stays in the studio with the kids , but the best place to put the crib is by the studio entrance door. We lock it and put a do not disturb sign on it.

I know you aren't staying there but if we stayed in the studio we would not mind having the GC's there.

The closet also is a good place for the crib, it is big enough.

They wheeled one of these up to us by mistake at the BWV (we had ordered a crib for the week from ABBF and didn't need the Disney one). It was white metal - very similar to the cribs used in the hospitals. Maybe not all Disneys "jail cells" (LOL!) are created equally, but this one had a smaller mattress and sheet size than a "normal" crib. It was definitely not the same size as our std crib at home. My MIL has a crib very similar to the Disney one (except it's made of wood instead of steel) - it requires its own sheets (mine were too long, and the mattress was thinner on MIL's crib too.)

THis was last year, and as I said, at BWV -- maybe other resorts are different?

Hmmm...lots of interesting information from you folks as usual! I am beginning to think of having DS sleep in the pack and play (after all, he did for the first five months of his life anyways). I imagine the steel crib is fine, probably by requesting it, it's nice to have the option of using it OR the pack and play, whichever he does better in. I was thinking of taking an extra crib sheet so it will be interesting to see if it fits the mattress they give us. Boy is it nerve-wracking taking your little one for the first time! However, it is very exciting and we can't wait.

I think the closet will probably work. I thought about putting the crib by the door to the studio, but my parents will be sleeping in there. We will probably spend some time in the evenings in the living room so when they go to bed it's likely he could be disturbed. We'll just have to figure it out when we get there. I like having the option of the closet though and it makes me feel better knowing that others have done it. I like being by DS but at night he keeps us up just listening to him breath. He isn't the quietest sleeper and he is kind of a light sleeper too so I fear we will wake him as well as him waking us.

thanks for the info, i'll probably be stuffing dd (1yr) in the closet in 3 wks

i'd forgotten about full size cribs! i'll have to mention it when i check in, it would be nice to try since pack and plays have not worked in the past and she ends up sleeping with us...ok, with dh as i get annoyed and end up sleeping with DS(3)
