Someone posted awhile back about having a HUGE germent bag that packs 20 dresses. I don't remember who it was, or even what the topic was about. Does anyone remember this post? I would love to know who it was, and where she got this bag. I thought it would be easy to find one, NOT!! If anyone can help, I would appreciate it so much, because I hang every outfit and put in separate plastic bags, even capris, shorts, etc. no wrinkles.:D
I hope someone remembers this. Thanks so much.

20 dresses!
I'd like to know that, as well!

But has anyone one else run into this dilemna? The airlines are now saying we can only have one bag plus one carry-on. They are limited to 40-50 lbs. in weight. We found this out on a trip to Las Vegas this past April. Our big bag weighed in at 69 lbs:eek:

It was over the limit, but since we had started our trip before the new regulation, it was "grandfathered-in". (How funny is that?)

The fee for an overweight bag is eighty bucks!

In October we will be gone for two weeks. FTP before a week on the Magic. This presents a packing challenge;)

I know I'll be doing laundry at some point- which I really despise on vacation- but our smaller bags that will meet the weight even when stuffed don't really let you keep things wrinkle free.

Anybody used those Space bags?

Loretta

I think its those orange leaf and garden bags from Glad. You may have to double bag though ;)

Too funny!:D

Reminds me of tha "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode where no one wants to move the suitcase, and he goes on a business trip with his stuff in plastic grocery bags:)

Loretta

P.S. Incharge- did you look on eBags.com, they have all kinds of luggage?

I cracked up when I saw that reply! You beat Buckaroo Dad on that answer. HONEST AND FOR TRUE:D
A poster did say that it held 20 dresses!

nicuruc,
I found out about that weight restrictions on my last cruise. I had to close the expander because it was too big. Luckily I had my sweetie with me to carry all of my "extras" coming back, because men pack light:)
I will check that sight. Thanks alot.

I used the Space Saver bags on my cruise in May and they worked great. The clothes weren't wrinkled and I didn't have to worry about the TSA people looking at all my clothes on the off chance that they were randomly selected. I also put all my "unmentionables" in ziploc bags for the same reason.

Loretta, they only allowed you one bag and one carry on? I thought you could have 2 bags and one carry on?? Which airline did you go on and are they all like that now? I know there's a weight limit.
Thanks for your help!

Jeanny

We flew Continental in April and that's when we first heard about the restrictions.
We are flying USAir next month and were told about the one bag and one carry-on, ditto for a flight on Delta in October.

Bummer, huh?

Loretta

that sure is quite a bummer!! I used Delta and American last year and could bring two each plus a carry-on.

I guess this saves fuel and $$ for the airlines. But now I have to rethink my packing!!

I just flew Delta and was allowed 2 bags per person plus a carry-on. When did you say this is supposed to take place? We took a hanging bag, a large rolling suitcase, another large rolling suitcase, a small duffle, and 2 smaller rolling suitcases. Plus our carry-ons were 2 backpacks, a video camera bag, and my son had a kid-sized roller for his toys as his carry-on. They didn't charge us anything for weight even though one had to be close to 60-75 pounds as I could barely lift it.

We were told the new regulation went into effect April 15. We started our trip before and ended after that, so they let our extra heavy bag go.
I just made reservations a couple of weeks ago and was informed by the Delta rep of the one bag, one carry-on per person as well as the weight limit.
It would sure be nice if they were not enforcing it:)
I'm a terrible packer, always over-pack:)

Loretta

I flew Continental today. I checked two bags and had one carry on. I didn't have any problems. There was no mention of a new rule saying you were only allowed to check one bag.

Loretta, are you flying a Delta partner airline? Because Delta's website clearly states that two checked bags are okay. :)

Domestic U.S. Baggage Allowances
Delta accepts a maximum of two checked baggage items free of charge for each ticketed passenger, in addition to one carry-on bag, plus one personal item. Delta's codeshare partners may have different guidelines and additional restrictions may apply on certain flights*.

Check two bags and carry on one bag, plus one personal item

*Customers traveling to or from Key West, Florida are limited to 1 checked bag.

Additional baggage may be accepted for an excess baggage fee. All baggage must meet the size and weight limits. Luggage carts count toward your bag allowance.

We may limit the amount of excess baggage when such excess prevents us from carrying each traveler's free baggage allowance.

For information on special items you want to check or carry on, go to the Special Baggage page.

Personal items
In addition to the one carry-on item, you can still bring one personal item such as:

a male or female purse
a briefcase
a laptop/computer*
a camera case
a diaper bag
an item of a similar size or smaller size to those listed above
*All laptop/computers must be carried aboard and cannot be checked.

These guidelines apply to all carry-on baggage:

Baggage must meet the size and weight limits.
Acceptance may be limited based on available space.
May be subject to additional restrictions on certain flights.
For information on special items you want to carry on, go to the Special Baggage page.

What all are you folks packing? I thought I was an over-packer but here's my list:
2-3 pair shorts, half dozen t-shirts, 2 swimsuits and 1 coverup for sea days
couple of capri sets or sun dresses for excursions
7 dinner dresses, including 2 dressier one for formal nights
couple of wraps to match some dresses
assorted undies and 1 pair stockings for formal nights

Shoes are my downfall - I figure flip flops, sneakers, water shoes, 1 pr sandals and at least 3 pair of dress shoes.

All of the above plus "hair stuff" will fit into a large rolling duffle bag. (Use 2 gallon zip lock bags to keep things together and facilitate baggage checks)

My cosmetics, book and camera will fit into my carry-on cosmetic bag.

What am I forgetting? I realize I may have to do laundry at some point but easy stuff - undies and t-shirts.

And now we bring you back to your regularly scheduled OP.... where oh where is that 20 dress garment bag??? :D

I'm with you, I WANT THAT BAG:D :D I was hoping that the poster who has this 20 dress bag would read this post and give me the 4-1-1. Oh well, I will keep trying.

Michelle,
I never checked on the website for any regs... I found out about this while on hold making a reservation (found a cheaper rate than on the website thru ITA) and a recorded message told about the one bag plus on carry on. I asked the agent I got to speak to if I heard correctly, she said yes.
Continental we heard about as we checked in bags on return flight ( and now they are partners with Delta for SkyMiles and such).
I love to know for sure. DH & DS won't be bringing their scuba gear if the one bag rule is going to be enforced:(
