Where to get rolls of quarters?

Mine takes them in the change machine only, ships them out, and that is all. They do not deal with change too much anymore. If they need more coins, be prepared for about a 10 minute wait while the go to the vault to get a roll. According to the teller I spoke with, she said they have less than $50 in quarters in the bank excluding what was put in the change machine that day. She said it needs to be special ordered and takes 2-4 weeks to get in.

How about this.
Go buy yourself 1 or 2 Mini M&M containers. I like the long ones.
Then go get yourself as many quarters as you want.
Fill them in to them mini M&M containers.
You now have a re-closeable roll of quarters.
In one of them, you can even load them up with some pennies too, 1 penny for each 2 quarters.

That's what we store ours in also! I occasionally get questions from TSA when it's in my backpack, but not always.

LOL. I can't imagine why you would get questions over those, but I guess they can ask about anything "out of the ordinary".

"Um, Ma'am, mind if we take a look inside your bag? What are these?"

"It's a bunch of quarters inside an old M&M candy tube."

"Oh...ok. I can see that now....Have a nice trip."

I was going to call this out too. I've been stopped by TSA when I've had my quarters in a mini M&M tube or when I've had just a plain roll of quarters. The x-ray machine sees it as a round metallic cylinder so they usually check it out. Once they saw what it was, I was on my way. I now put the quarters in a ziploc bag and then load them into the mini M&M container once I've arrived at MCO (or once i'm in my rental car and out of the public eye).

I never put them in my carry on since they are heavy and I don't want to cart them around. I pack them in the suitcase. But yeah, I can see why the TSA would wonder what on earth they are.

A local laundromat should have change machines. Get your quarters and put them in the M&M tubes as pp mentioned. I had them in carry on and they were pulled out to be checked by TSA. No big deal though. I always seem to have something in my carry on that sparks their interest. LOL.

Laundromat!!! Perfect. I will have to check out the one near me to see if I can make it work.

Any grocery store or Walmart service desk should have them. I just got a roll yesterday at the grocery store. Good luck!

I had a roll of quarters in carryon and the TSA thanked me for taking them out of my bag and putting them separate in the bin.

This is preposterous to me. So how do the banks receive their quarters, big pickle jars or Scrooge McDuck moneybags?

Maybe they had rolls in the back? But I only needed change for a dollar and the teller was like, um, we don't have coins out front anymore, I can only give you them if someone's deposited random quarters. They had "upgraded" their drawers from drawers to money machines. If I go in with a stack of 20s and say I need 5s, they put it in the machine and the machine spits out the smaller bills but there's no way for me to get small amounts of quarters.

That's ridiculous because if you want to withdraw $12.53 or if you are cashing a check for $289.87 (or whatever random amount) they have to have coins available to give you the money you are cashing or withdrawing.

That's what I do to. I've always been stopped when going through the checkpoint and they are already loaded into the M&M container. And I keep quarters from change in a jar in the house so I usually have enough from that.

Maybe you could get some at the grocery store or is their a laundry mat near you that may have them?

Any store? Any post office? Are rolled quarters that hard to find? I'm not trying to be rude, but I can get them from anywhere that handles cash. I guess different areas of the country do that differently. Who knew??!!?

I have always been able to "buy" a roll of quarters at the resort/hotel front desk - and not just at Disney, when traveling elsewhere in the US and Canada as well.

I agree that it's ridiculous, but it's getting much more common. There is not one bank in our small town that accepts or sells rolled change anymore. The ones without counting machines really don't want it all all, but I made them count my gallon jug by hand and give me paper bills. Money is money. Crazy.

As @Kelli72 said, I would try a grocery store or Walmart. I've had luck there.

I will see what I can get before I leave in a few days. Not overly concerned with it. I do know the resorts have them and can make arrangements to have them the next day. It use to be a ton easier when the laundry machines and arcades were quarter operated. Go in with two $20s and get 4 rolls of quarters worth out of them. Now, I just need to plan a bit better. I did stop by another bank by my house. They too do not have tons of change and said the same thing. in an effort to cut costs, they are not moving change because of the weight. For the most part, they only have the change that they get in their coin counting machine. They don't bring in 50Lb bags of coins any longer.

I would be SHOCKED if you could not just walk up to the Front Desk at OKW and buy some rolls of quarters immediately without them having to order them for the next day.

Maybe I am misssing something?:)
