Where to find autograph books?

Hi, I have been debating ordering a welcome "ears to you" package from the DIsney Florist for my DD. The price tag is $30, and it comes with child's size ears, an autograph book, and some candy or munchies of some sort.

We get into Orlando at 8 pm; then we head to AK for an 8:30 ressie at Tusker House first thing. I would like to have an autograph book for DD when we go to that breakfast, so, thought the florist welcome package delivered to the hotel would fit the bill.

But, being a terrible cheapskate, I have been wondering how much each of the components are . I don't care all that much for the ears, and it may be more fun to have her pick out her own pair at one of the parks. We are staying offsite.

We are also going to make a grocery pit stop once we get there---do grocery stores have them too? Or should I check out the airport gift shops (if they are still open when we get there).

ANy thoughts??

Kara

Hello .................first congrats on your first trip to DISNEY enjoy it. I can say our first trip was in 2007 and it was wonderful it is a truly magical place

On the autograph books what I did last time was I found little notebooks with Disney characters on them we took them they were cheap I paid a dollar for each of them bought three one with Disney Princess one with Winnie the Pooh and one with Tigger on it.

This time have not found anything like that so bought little cheap notebooks for like a dollar or two and we are going to decorate them up with scrapbooking stuff

Just a thought..................................if you don't want to wait to buy them in Florida

Or check ebay

Yeah, if I were you I would buy Dollar Store notebooks.:artist: BUT NOT the ones with lines. The lines ruin the autograph.:crazy2:
And decorate the note books and personalize!:scratchin

There is a small blue autograph book for sale all over the parks (and hotel gift shops) that is only $6.95. It holds lots of autographs. (plain paper only no place for pictures.) We thought it was a great bargain for being a Disney item.

I liked an idea I saw somewhere - here I think. As a reading teacher, I like this suggestion. :) The person suggested getting a book that has the majority of the characters in it, and have them sign the actual book. It makes it sorta a two-fer where you can read a story, and relive your trip. There are storybook collections available.

I was just wondering about this idea wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone has done it or if I am just crazy

Thought about taking card stock and making little cards like 4 x 4 or something and carry them in the bag we carry around with a sharpie and have them sign those that way I have them for my scrap book and when I get home I can doll them up with stickers and things like that for the scrapbook

Any thoughts ?????

Anyone done anything like this before if so how did it work and do you have pictures ???

I like the storybook idea! Also Michaels Art and Craft stores have a dollar section with Disney stuff including an autograph sized book with a pen. Not sure if it has lines or not but I was going to pick one up today for DD. I just saw princess themed ones though. DE filled up her blue one from the park already so she needs a new one for May. For DS I bought a small photo album and scrapbook stickers etc and made one for his first trip photos. Not much room for autographs but we got Mickey and the Pooh gang and Peterpan and Wendy ...good enough for a one year old. And I plan on putting the pics of his first trip and haircut on mainstreet in the album. It also has a spot in the front that fits a Disney ticket or key to the world! I put mine in there for him. A nice keepsake all contained into one. I think if you are going to do the notecards that it would be cool to get Disney scapbook paper and cut it to notecard size to take. It already has a theme and will look cute in a scrapbook:) have fun with it.

Was hoping that someone would come along and tell me if the card stock would work. Is it easy enough for them the characters to write on ?

I figure if I leave it on the table they can write on it there.

Any ideas would be wonderful

Thanks so much

Gotta get started getting that ready we leave soon...............SMILE

Can't hardly wait :yay:

Last year I used some ideas I found on the Disigns board. I printed out some 4x6 cardstock and bought a small clipboard. Each character had its own card with their name printed on it. The characters LOVED seeing their own personalized cards and my kids were able to put the photo of them with the character next to the card in an album. Just a tip! :goodvibes

This is a great idea, we took hats last time and had the charcters sign them, my boys love wearing them, and they always get asked questions about it. I love hearing my kids talk their experiances. I think I am doing the cardstock this year. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip

I took blank reciepe cards, then when I around to it, I will take the autograph, and make a scarpbook page with the picture of my kids with the character.

BUT if you are looking for something your kids can carry and do them selves, you could have the pages bound at Staples, then take them out and cut them to shape/style when you put the pages for the scrapbook together!

I think what you do really depends on how you are going to display them once the trip is over!

Have fun! We are still can't believe our trip is over! It took forever to get here, and went by so quickly!

Thank you all for posting. I think I am going to do the card stock this year. We used the books last time and each of my children had one. So we have three of them for the characters to sign well my kids look at those books all the time. So thinking I might give them those books and I will use the card stock for my scrap book this time and have them only sign ONE time.................does that sound all right ?

I figure I will just cut them in squares should get maybe four out of a piece of it. Then can just pull one out of the bag and have them sign it on the table or clip board even if I decide to take one of those.

Thank you once again for all the ideas.

Just be careful not to make the pieces to small, some of the characters take up a lot of room! My cards are the blank cards that my son uses for speeches.

My first trip to WDW was adults only as we had no children. Now we are going in Aug/Sept 09 & we will totally be doing the cardstock & scrapbook thing.
I had originally wanted the autograph book but after coming across this idea a month or 2 ago I decided it was much better, as you will have your disney scrapbook forever. Plus my DD will only be 2 so I doubt she would enjoy the autograph book. I doubt if she will even want to go up to the characters at all.

What do you think is a good size for them to sigh on ? I was thinking maybe a three by four or something like that should I do more like a five by seven type ?

Thanks for the information. My daughter said she still wants to do a book. Do you think I will look silly having them sign her book and my card stock ? My son wants to wear a white tee shirt do you think that is all right to do ? He is ten years old

Thanks for your help

I don't think the characters are allowed to sign clothing while it is on someone's body. If your son wanted to bring a white tshirt for them to sign (and isn't wearing it), that would probably be okay. You would just need something to put under it when they sign.

This time have not found anything like that so bought little cheap notebooks for like a dollar or two and we are going to decorate them up with scrapbooking stuff

That's what I did. Our trip was a surprise for my daughters, so we had a little gift bag ready for them to 'discover' where we were going that had a tye-dyed mickey head shirt, some disney dollars, lots of other stuff and a handmade autograph book.

I found two notebooks at the dollar tree, took the covers off the spiral thingy, and covered them with scrapbook paper then personalized with their names. I took the paper out (lined) and cut and punched my own white cardstock. The notebooks were the 'loose' kind so they could open and lay flat...much easier than the sewn/bound books.

Oh, and invest in the clickable Sharpies if you're doing Sharpies...easier for the characters to open (no lid to fumble with) and chunky enough to make it easy to grip.

Have a great trip!
