Where to buy at DVC

Thanks both great ideas that I did not think off thanks, think about 150 points at Saratoga Springs but can not decide on the other Old KeyWest, Boardwalk or Animal Kingodm, really hard to decide, do like the idea of boardwalk as close to Epcot and can walk there at night.

It would be very important to know when you usually travel. I like January and September for the low crowds and they are very low periods for DVC. I got 2 weeks at AKV value last year, one of the most difficult room category to book. SSR points work very well for me. If you go the first two weeks of December most of the time, this would not work. No you cannot, like PP said, but 150 points each at two resort work very well with banking and borrowing. The first year you can borrow points at resort A and book with 300 points your stay, then you bank points at resort B. Next year you use the banked points and the current points at resort B and book a 300 points stay at resort B. Next year you start over. This way you can the 11 months booking advantage at two resorts.

We travel at Halloween time for two weeks and or Christmas over new year for two weeks.

Oh, then you should really consider an Epcot resort for your second contract or even both. VERY heavy times for DVC. Trying to get 2 weeks together might even be a challenge at 7 months, hence the suggestion for split stays.

Why don't you simply buy the SSR since it seems you've decided on that option and see how it goes. Maybe 150-200 since you're thinking 300 total long term. If you can get a fully loaded contract it'll feel like more points for 3-4 yrs anyway. By then you'll have more inside info, experience and know your personal preferences better. You'll be able to make a much more informed decision as to whether to buy more and if so, what/how many to buy. If you decide to buy 2 contracts, I would seriously consider buying 2 different home resorts with one that fits your wants and the other as a points cow.

Ok thanks, if I have one resort are you saying booking two weeks at one will be hard to do at 11 months?

Ok thanks, what do you mean by fully loaded, do you mean a contract where the points have not been used for 2014 yet?

Most buyers don't truly know where to buy or what the DVC resorts have to offer, that's why I suggest that you buy SSR, try out the DVC, experience the resorts, accommodations, views and amenities for yourself. In a few years you will know what you like, don't like and where you wish you owned for the 11 month booking advantage. Then you can buy your favorite resort and be mouse happy!

We bought resorts that we were sure that we would like but guess what, we don't. Expensive lesson learned.

To most of us "Fully Loaded" means all of last years points banked to this UY, plus all of this UY points and all of next years available as well. Say for a Dec UY 100 pt contract you'd be in the 2013 UY and have 200 points currently available with another 100 coming in Dec that could be borrowed. The other trick is getting them AND getting through the system in time to be able to use the points.

Sorry, no, if you have enough points to stay for 2 weeks you shouldn't have any problems. I meant at 7 months at very busy times at smaller, more desirable resorts.
