Where is the Best Night Hot Spot?????

Boyz! Boyz!
Obviously there is only one scientific way to solve this...
DANCE OFF!

Strip down to your gold lamé hot pants -
and may the best go-go boy win.

I think the PH has a bad rap because of the rooms. Let me state that I rarely go "out" anymore, but when I did I always had fun there. Recently I had dinner there with friends before seeing a show in the showroom, a very good "Wanzie and Doug" production.....and heck, it's where I met Shrek. By all means give it a try! You have to admit, it is an Orlando "icon".

Funny that's where I met Shrek too.

Ooops!

I wouldn't mind trying PH. I don't go out much either (not recently anyway) but I'm kind of used to the "industrial, dark and grungy" type of places because NY and Columbus have several. There's a place a few blocks away from me that used to have a kiddie pool in the center of the room......... I'm sure you get the idea. But they seem to be "cleaning up" all the bars as of late. Now they have karaoke on Thursdays. :crazy2:

Anyhoo.....yeah. I'd like to try PH some day. If anyone's up for it, let's make plans. :thumbsup2

I am 22. So I was too young to be clubbing back in the days that I have heard gave P-house a bad name. But In the last year I must have gone there dozens of times and always felt completely safe and had a great time.

Though I do agree with Mike... I wouldnt ever stay in the rooms! As a hotel... I have no comment. As a club... its great!

I have not yet been to P house, and I don't really know that I want to.

And its ignorant comments like this that drive me crazy. No one who talks trash about p-house has ever even been. When people from out of town come visit me and have no preconcieved notions, I bring them, and they love. When I mention it to someone from orlando.... theyve never been and for some reason assume the worse.

So that's a "no" to the Go-Go Boy dance off?

Bad reputations die hard Lukas. It isn't so much an ignorant comment, as it is one based on what (most recently) was. If they are indeed cleaning it up (as I've heard) then that is terrific. P-House will have to spend some time being "cleaned up" (and no, I don't mean the dreaded karaoke type of clean up!:scared: ) before it moves well beyond the bad rep it's had for some time.

It's no bath house, but it isn't Babylon either. Yet. ;)

They have spent a ton of money and time cleaning the place up, it's really a nice place! They literally took out the parking lot that surrounded the pool and made a huge outdoor bar/lounge area out of it. Not only do they have drag shows, but legitimate theater occasionally. And the one time I had dinner there in the restaurant it wasn't bad at all.

Add to that a piano bar, a "western" bar, and a dance club and overall it can be a fun evening! I don't think I know of one CSP CM who hasn't been there at least once!

Good to know. What I meant by that was, some time will have to pass for recommendations such as yours override the past. ::yes::

We spoke with some reps from P-House at Orlando Pride last year. They talked about all they had done and what they were planning on still doing, so I know they are moving the very earth to get the place looking good. That's a great thing.

Just commenting that it wasn't always that way, and it got a reputation of its own accord, eh? ;)

We've been to P-House with straight friends several times. Usually to see a cabaret or theatrical performance, and then a few drinks on the patio. We joked that in the six months since the Adventurers Club closed, the bar that our straight friends have spent the most time at has been P-House. We enjoy going there.

The Friday Night "Twisted Sisters Karaoke" is a hoot! It's everything that karaoke hosted by drag queens should be!

That said, there is still definitely a skeevy vibe to the place. Part of that comes from the fact that it's in the part of town that it's in. Part of it is the fact that they DO have hotel rooms and Balcony Bingo is definitely alive and well. Part of it is that they host events like "Erotica" where the draw is porn stars and porn companies and websites like rentboys.

So, while I enjoy going there, I'm not going to say "it's the best place in town and anyone who doesn't like it is lame". I can definitely see both sides of the issue where P-House is concerned.

Without knowing more about out-of-town guests, I don't think I'd direct them to P-House as the best nighttime hot-spot without the caveat that it's sure not for everyone, if you know what I mean.

(This is going to be one of those comments where I'm kind of all over the place, so take that into consideration before reading.)

I kind of hate how certain bars get bad reps if they don't follow the stereotypical "young-and-pretty" trend. That happens here a lot. I've heard several "young-and-pretty" types put down certain bars simply because their main clientele have an average age of 35 and over........and some of these bars are really great in my opinion. But we're in an age now where "young-and-pretty" is all that matters. One of the "YAP" bars down the street from me often has guys 50-55 who have obviously had surgery done, and are dressed in clothes that most 17 or 18 year-olds couldn't even pull off......and they do it so they can be "in","trendy" and young-looking. A few doors down from there there's another bar where you're lucky to get service if you weigh over 200 pounds. I even heard one of the ditzy waiters that works there say this about someone who tried to talk to him at one of the bars he considered being trashy: "Oh my gawwwwd! This guy was, like, at LEAST 200 pounds. Sick. That place makes me sick." I was entirely offended because not only did I go to that bar, but I weigh over 200 pounds!

And then there's the whole speculation and hearsay thing that drives me nuts. (In one of the performance organizations I'm a member of I had a few people come up to me and tell me that they thought I was being snobbish and they believed I thought I was better than they were because I tend to not say much when in the group. That's when I informed them that I had mild autism........and that you learn more from listening than you do from talking all the time. :rolleyes1) I've heard horrible reviews for restaurants that I wind up going to and loving, and vice versa. I guess you just have to experience something for yourself before any conclusions can be drawn.

Okay.....I'm done yammering now.

And once again I miss the Napolean Club in Boston! It was the best piano bar EVER! :sad2:

I miss the Hideaway in Dallas. Great little piano bar with a very relaxing patio. Wish there was something like that here.

Brava!
I'm no lemming myself.
As a matter of fact - if a place gets to much buzz -
too many people/ reviews saying you simply "must" go -
I tend to stay far away.

So we need to take you and Paul to P-House when you're in town, so you can see for yourself!

I'm a good dancer.

I'm the same way about most things.....especially when it comes to media and restaurants. As far as the latter is concerned, you really need to take the source into consideration. Having said that, I know people who think Panda Express is "too exotic". Need I say more?
