Where is all the budget stuff?

I am going to agree and disagree with you here...The search function is useless on these boards. Like you said, a targeted search often brings back pages and pages of unrelated junk...That being said, I don't find the boards to be that cluttered. I think that the threads that clearly have no relation to budget are few and far between. We each use the boards differently, but for me, checking on them every day and noting good ideas allows me to see what others are doing and what would work for me.

This one should suit my needs as I am working out our BUDGET for disney and figuring out how to stretch some things and what I should just cough up the dough for and not cheap out on.

Theoretically this is the forum I should be reading. In practice I find that I can't slog through all the junk to find the meat. There are so many off topic discussions that even very specifically worded searches turn up page after page of useless non info.

And this whole attitude of if you don't like it get lost is bologna. How does anything ever get better if you tell people to pound sand?

You and I must have read different threads then because "the vast majority" did not exist. There were just as many voices for a sub forum as against. Just because there is no moderator doesn't mean there is not a crowd of people that feel it's unusable it just means the people who are scared of change chased them all off.

There are moderators for the site and apparently they don't have an issue with what is being posted so you should probably find a forum that better suits your needs. It is up to you do decide whether to participate here given the environment. Although, the insulting manner you have displayed may not make others inclined to help you out.

No, that's not accurate. Many who do think there should be a subforum and moderation are tired and resigned to not being heard, or heeded.
Yes, I get that, which is why I've mentioned (twice) that I don't disagree with the OP's observations, only her approach. And given that we KNOW there will be no changes, the rest of us have already resigned ourselves to the status quo and either participate in Budget as it is or don't....

Has the OP started another thread with her/his questions about budget yet? I'm so curious as to what it is that he/she is looking for here.

Sometimes, it is what it is. It's up to you to make your own budget and decide what to skip out on and what not to. I don't know what's important to anyone - unless they tell me. I help plenty of friends plan their own Disney vacations. They all want different things than me and my family. I know what my own family enjoys, so I know what to splurge on and what not to. Everyone wants to save money, but there are only so many ways to do that on a Disney vacation. If someone wants to start a random thread, myself included, I just don't have a problem with it. Just keep scrolling. Do you want to save on your hotel, park tickets, food?? Are you staying on or off property? What time of year are you going? How many people are traveling with you? Do you have a set budget? Are you driving or flying?

I guarantee you that any of the dis veterans can help you out on any of these matters. I can also tell you that you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. It helps to be respectful even if you disagree with one another.

Wow it would be easy to ask a question and get helpful feedback if that is what you are truly after. But I notice more and more even on FB groups newcomers want to dominate and have their way almost like a sense of entitlement.

There are also ways to suggest improvements without being insulting.

Wait, OP, by posting this thread didn't you do the very thing you are complaining about?
There is a community board here, you can probably post your complaint threads over there :badpc:
Well of course, off-topic post rules don't apply to her. :snooty:

For the 2 previous posts (59 & 60), if there were a LOVE button instead of a LIKE button, I would have clicked it. :)

You have it wrong. Only the OP is intelligent enough to discern what truly constitutes an off-topic thread. She has already pointed out the ignorance of the masses with regard to this point and deemed her own thread to be completely on-topic for this board.

Wow. My thought is, if you don't like what's on a forum, don't go there. Find one that better suits your needs. Easy peasy, problem solved! LOL
I'm with you Dianna,

I jump around to all the forums, they all have threads that go off kilter.
You filter out the stuff that doesn't appeal to you.

I like the budget board for the IPhone type of questions.
I don't do budget Disney trips, in fact I'm a luxury vacationer. The only way I am able to vacation in the style I like is to be cost conscious in my every day life.

So saving on phone repairs is relevant to me.

Also many times even if the question asked isn't your cup of tea a lot of times the responses you get from a wide array of people can be helpful.

I'm with Dianna, don't like, simply skip

How right you are. You said it much better than I did.

OP- if you look at the second post on this board...its a stickee.... Webmaster Pete is asking this exact question!!

But a Budget Community subforum would be the absolute ideal place for this thread.

Many of the responses to the original post have been far more rude, even snarky - some bordering on sarcastic - than anything the OP said.

Maybe she's just looking for general budget-related information, without having a specific question.
