Released as a segment of Walt Disney’s 1947 animated feature “Fun and Fancy Free,” “Mickey and the Beanstalk” retells the story of “Jack and the Beanstalk” with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy in place of Jack. During their adventure atop the beanstalk, Mickey and friends encounter the fearsome but not particularly bright Willie the Giant and this was not the end for Willie either on screen or off. In fact, his oversized face can be seen peeking into the “Sir Mickey’s” shop in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland.

Willie’s appearance at “Sir Mickey’s” is inspired by the final scene of “Fun and Fancy Free,” which featured Willie similarly lifting the roof off the house of the live action narrator of “Mickey and the Beanstalk,” ventriloquist Edgar Bergen, as part of his continued search for Mickey. While looking down into the house, Willie asked Bergen and his dummies, Charlie McCarty and Mortimer Snerd, if they’ve see a “teensy-weensy, little mouse,” causing the surprised ventriloquist to faint out of shock. Willie could also be seen lifting the roof of buildings in his role as the Ghost of Christmas Past in “Mickey’s Christmas Carol.”
