I am looking for plastic sheeting you use when making shaker cards. I usually use the plastic packaging from mats, carts, etc. but these are for birthday invites so I am going to need a lot. What do you use? Where do you get it?

DS is having a bug party. I am going to make a jar of bugs as the invite and make it a shaker with paper bugs inside the jar.

Thanks! :goodvibes

how about the overhead projector sheets that teacher's use to use.

I would think Staples would still carry those.

Showing my age.... :rolleyes1

Or those "report" covers with the plastic covering, and the thingy that slide on the left side... and they never worked.

I never made them but I like Dogcarbon ideas - or how about the sheet protector's

I wanted to say your idea sounds wonderful

I never thought about using those. That is a great idea...and for the record I used to teach with those overheads all the time! :goodvibes

what a great idea!!! can't wait to see them!

That should work - and you can use foam tape to add the necessary depth. The kind you can buy in the insulation or window department at Lowes is thinner than the stuff from Michaels.

I know this is late but I thought I'd jump in anyway. Something I've discovered over the years is that if I use inkject film rather than OHP you don't seem to get a static build up, so if you use a medium grain glitter in your shaker it generally won't stick to the film.:)

Thanks for all the suggestions! I finished the invites and got many compliments. I will have to post a picture soon. :goodvibes

The only time I have made them, I used the overhead projector sheets. I had to cut them with a sizzix cutter. I tried a big round punch and it only stretched the plastic and jammed the punch. Had a heck of a time getting the plastic out so I could use the punch for something else.
