Where do you buy your plane tickets?

Ok,
So I am at a loss. I want so desperately to get a good price on plane tickets that I feel I am searching endlessly and getting nowhere. I feel that I have checked everywhere and to no avail.
Where do you get you tickets from? Do you go to a travel agent, do you get them online from somewhere like expedia, or do you go directly to the airline itself? What airlines do you use?
Do you wait until last minute for deals to come out?
Just curious. I cannot find anything under $737 for the time I want to go and I do not want to spend that much if I can help it.
Thanks,
Jo

Give us some dates and we can help you. I would only buy directly thru the airline. If you find a price on Expedia, I believe the airline will match that price. I think they also charge fees,. At least with airline they will give you a credit if you have to change your ticket!

Planning on heading out Aug. 25-Sept 6. I can be flexible for the August date, but cannot leave after Sept 6.
Thanks, Jo.

What I do is bookmark the websites for each airline that fly's out of here to Orlando.
I would check prices each day-they do flucuate.
I also checked expedia.ca but the prices were always lower on the actual site itself-go figure.
I booked at 620.00 per person for this Oct...there was nothing lower from Winnipeg. I am glad I did as the prices are now up to almost 700.00
We had considered flying from Minneapolis as we had in the past-fares would have been half the price but this time there are other family members going and we have lots of stuff for the wedding so I wasn't about to lug it all down there!
Good luck with your airfare search..if you find a good one please post it..I have some relatives in Blackfalds who still need to get tickets for Oct as well...

Just a suggestion, but we usually book our charter flights at sunholidays.ca. Good luck!

I know I am in a different province, but here's my advice. I booked online with searstravel.ca. Just got home yesterday, we actually flew out of Buffalo. Everything went very smoothly, and I get Sears points!

I just booked ou September air travel to Great Britain with FlightCentre at my local mall and will definitely use them again -- if only because they are willing to beat online ticket prices on the same airline. They had quoted me $2400 for the three BA tkts YYZ-LHR; I told them British Airways website had it for "about" $2370 and she offered it to me for $2350!! They waived their $40 booking fee - but that's a bargain for the access to information and advice a TA can provide. Trip cancellation & interruption insurance was a cinch at about 10% for 24 days of travel in England and Wales.
I have also booked flights on destina.ca -- loads of FF miles to be had there and I've used travelocity.ca and airline websites to garner the information needed to make the informed decision.

I got mine for 374.00 per person flying out of Toronto for August 26. Flying back the 3rd of September. I am not sure about where you are flying from though.

Good Luck. Also we went through a sears travel agent where she got the cheapest flight for us.

See ya in disney World.:wave2:

I just booked ours calling the airline directly, but we used sidestep (think it is www.sidestep.com) to compare prices...ng you are comfortable with...don't hesitate.

We're going in Jan/Feb, and the best I can find is Continental for $469CAD taxes in...

Which airline are you flying with Bea?

:sunny:

We are flying continental out of HFX. We leave on March 11 and return on the 19th. I have been keeping an eye on their airfare because they seem to come up alot cheaper than AC. A few weeks ago it was as low as it was today but I let it go. And within those two weeks it went up as much as $150.00 CDN a ticket. On Friday (afternoon) I noticed it was back down so finally I booked our tix. The US price was $297.00 (taxes in). I checked sidestep.com a few hours after booking and the fare was up about $35.00 US already.

We are flying out of Seattle for around 1200.00 for 4 of us. I was
just floored at the prices to fly from Vancouver to Orlando. If you can try looking at US Airways web site or South West. Good luck!:sunny:

I've booked directly through Air Canada's website but last time I booked through Destina.ca ... they were offering triple Aeroplan points plus a bonus for new customers.

Which airline is it that you can get really cheap deals at 12:01 on Sundays? My husband is going to Newfoundland next month and I want to try and get a bargain.

The website is jetsgo.net. I don't know what province you are in, but that is 12:01, I think Ontario time. May even be Mountain time....you might want to check on that. Hope he has fun on his trip.

for those of us living in the Maritimes, it means a 3AM wake up call if you want to log on for Loonie Sundays:crazy:

aaahhh, the things we do for cheap airfares!!:)

:sunny:

I tried getting onto Loonie Sundays with Jetsgo last week and I couldn't find the discouts. Is there some posted every week? I found the loonie Sunday area, but no posted air prices for my area anywhere. Is there a trick?
Jo

No trick. I think at the top of the homepage is an add for Loonie Sundays. Click on that and the next page will ask you to plug in your departure city. Not all cities will have deals every week. It is just the luck of the draw, I guess. Good luck.

Hi

I just booked tickets for my in laws who are going with us via air next April 2005 - we will be driving the first time- that'll be interesting.

However, I played around with expedia and travelocity and found the following.

On Travelocity I could get a direct flight from T.O. to Orlando on United Airlines - good times etc for 309.00 US return.

On Expedia the same flight was over 600.00 CDN!! So even with the exchange going through travelocity worked better for us.

Last year we played around with different airports and flew out of Buffalo for a very low rate.

If you are near a U.S. city you might want to try that - you never know.

Best of Luck

Take care
