I'm the Mother of the groom - they're thinking a Christmas time wedding at Disney (to accommodate my other son's leave from Iraq) - will be small number of guests (10 or less) and we don't know where to start!

So help DIS friends! This is a new experience for me! (Am I REALLY old enough to have a son getting married???)

Congrats! Best Place to start would be looking over the official website first DisneyWeddings.com

Sounds like you would want an Escape Wedding with 10 guests and something small. They are basically a package deal with a cake and champage reception instead of a full out meal. There are several options though to book reception meals for Escapes though. Since you are pretty close if you are thinking this Christmas, you could call the DFTW number and start bugging them!

Also read these boards - they are great for ideas and you'll learn a ton!

Hope that helps!

DisneyMom, I agree with Mermaidbride1108. Check out the official FTW website. Look through the different packages that are offered and see if one suits your son's needs. Then try to decide what ceremony location would suit him and his bride. Do they want an indoor ceremony? Or an outdoor ceremony? Do they want to get married in the morning? The afternoon? Or the evening? Ask them all sorts of questions and pick their brains. I'm sure within a day or two, you'll have a very good idea as to their likes & dislikes (if you don't know them already, which I'm pretty sure you do!). Keep those in mind as you research the heck out of FTW weddings.

Also, read as much as you can here on the Dis (and on other websites too). There are lots of folks who have shared the stories of their FTW events, and even their photos. The Dis is a gold-mine of information.

As to your comment about being too young to have a son getting married, well, I feel the same way. My son is in college and thus could get married at any time. Except for the fact that he doesn't have a current girlfriend. But if he did, I might not be planning my vow renewal next year, I might be planning his wedding. Yikes! :earseek: :scared1:

By the way, I hope your other son is safe in Iraq. I'll add him to my prayers. Please pass along my appreciation to him and the rest of the folks who are over there with him.
