Where can we get lobster on the DDP?

Specifically, it is at the far side of DTD Marketplace near the Rainforest Cafe.

DH and I ate at Cap'n Jacks our last trip, on the DDP. I'm not a big seafood lover, so I was a little worried I wouldn't find anything I would like, but DH really wanted the lobster tails, so we went. Much to my surprise, I got the roast beef, which was soooo good! And, much to DH's surprise, I could also get a lobster tail added! You can add it with the roast beef and the chicken, I believe.

He can't wait until our next trip to eat there again. This time our DD is coming. She doesn't eat lobster either, so he's already planning on eating four lobster tails that night!

You're in NY, right (by your poster info).....Boston is MUCH closer...heck, MAINE is much closer...if hubby is craving good lobster. :)

Though, if YOU are looking for a reason to convince DH to book a trip.....best not to point that out.

funny you should mention it, 'cause out here on the east end of long island we can get really good lobster too... but i like the kind that the waitress brings and cleans up after, not the cook it yourself and be faced w/a big mess kind ;)

also, we went to maine last year in search of a great lobster roll... even went to the places that public television did their best eats type series on... we were disappointed...

and since i need a little leverage to get dh to wdw again (but just a little, he's teetering on the brink even after swearing off the place for a few years! HAH!) the lobster might just be the "thing!"

thanks :)

I don't eat lobster and I'm now intrigued by Cap'n Jacks. I wonder if they still have big margaritas.

As the wife of a lobster fisherman, I strongly encourage everyone to eat as much lobster as you can, LOL;) ! Increase in consumption, means increase in demand, which means increase in the price the lobstermen get, which means increase in my WDW budget!!!:rotfl:

Our first night is booked at Capn Jacks. May 6 7:20pm. Think of us...we'll be eating the lobster. ( I didn't know they had it...yahoo!):cool1:

We ate here earlier this month. Very slow for parties fo 6 or more - an hour past our reservation time. However, families of 4 were seated quickly. The cool thing - on the DP we each got a lobster tail with our food without paying (except the lobster tail meal) for it. Yum!

We have our ADR's set for Captain Jacks! Me,DH and DS all plan on eating lobster that night! Yay, can't wait!

although it might be a struggle, i'll do what i can to help... and since we're having a dinner party tomorrow night, i just might have to add nova scotia lobster tails to the menu... see what the power of suggestion does! (esp since our grocery store had butter on sale... what better use?! LOL!) :rotfl:

I was amazed at the size of those lobster tails at Captain Jack's!
Yummy too! And the crab cake apps were also good....can't beat a 1 TS credit on DDP.....would go back in a skinny minute!!

I loved:love:  the lobster tails at Captain Jacks. If you go during "free Dining" if its offered make sure you get a reservation. This place fill up quick.

If they offer free dining again, don't expect to see lobster on the menu any place at WDW. They take off the really pricey items during that time.

Really? Wow. I've read glowing reviews about the lobster at Captain Jack's and Narcoossee's, and I've never heard anyone mention that it wasn't available for purchase last August and September. I didn't realize that when free dining is offered at WDW, the restaurants actually go through their menus and take off the "pricey" items. The lobster isn't an issue for us (DH has a shellfish allergy and I just don't care for it), and we aren't getting free dining or even going when it's offered, we are paying for the DDP. But since the it's already being offered for free this year to certain guests (UK visitors and those "bounce back" folks who were there in December), people might like to know if certain items will be removed from menus during their visit.

What else besides lobster is totally removed from menus? Certain steaks, maybe filet? How do they define a "pricey" item? And these items are completely taken off the menus so no one can order them, not even guests who are paying OOP? That seems a bit extreme, doesn't it -- seems like they could just exclude certain entrees from the DDP if a restaurant decides they are too costly to serve for what Disney will pay. :scratchin

That has happened in other places that I know of (namely certain appetizers from Jiko). Yes, they're completely taken off the menu. Don't know about Cap'n Jacks. It's not historically a busy place. Looks like it's getting a bit of an uplift from this thread.

I don't think the Brits and the bounceback diners are going to be enough to put things over the edge in the restaurants, and if the free dining is offered to the general public it looks as if it may be a more limited time frame than last year, so it might work out differently this time.

This is really interesting, and the first I've heard of this. The appetizers from Jiko -- were they taken off the menu only during the period of free dining and then put back on the menu in November? Or was it a permanent change to the menu? It would be very costly to change a restaurant's menu, and print up completely different menus to use only for a 6-8 week period.

What is really so incredible about lobster being removed from Cap'n Jack's and Narcoossee's -- I know they had a lot of customers who were on free dining, but what about all the OOP customers who went to a seafood restaurant and were told there was no lobster on the menu? That's like going to an Italian restaurant and being told that pasta has been temporarily removed from the menu  Did this actually happen last year, or is it just a speculation that it will happen this year? Why would they do that instead of just excluding certain items from the dining plan? Several restaurants have specific items that are always excluded on the plan, as listed in the DDP FAQ -- Teppanyaki never includes lobster or sushi, Pepper Market only allows Tier 1 desserts, Spoodles and Raglan Road exclude the dessert sampler, CG lists the deluxe sushi platter as an entree instead of an appetizer, WPE excludes a couple of the more expensive items -- but these exclusions/limitations are all the time, not just during periods of free dining.

From what I understand the Jiko appetizers were removed at the free dining period last year due to expense. They were never put back on the menu with the exception of the ahi tuna. There was a post where the poster asked why they were still off the menu and were told that Jiko had decided to no longer offer dishes that had been deep fried.

The only part I heard about personally was the removal of the appetizers from the menu. Of course they were replaced with other appetizers. Since the tuna is back, the fried food thing is probably accurate.
