Where are you from?

I live just outside Indianapolis, courier driver as a living, so when I go on vacation, the keys stay in the pocket. Flying is the only way to go. Have Southwest and ATA, both discount airlines with nonstop 2 hour flights to Orlando.

We are from Pittsburgh Pa. We always fly! I don't think I could wait 2 or 3 days to get to WDW. It only takes 2 1/2 hours and we are in our Florida home!!! :hyper:

We are originally from Pittsburgh, PA. It would take DF and I about 14 hours to get to WDW. Of course, he drives like a maniac so it actually should take longer than that. We live near Charlotte, NC now and it only takes about 8 hours. I've never flown. We always drive.

Greetings from Central Massachusetts!!

We have flown twice out of TF Green/Providence, RI and will be flying for a third time in October--TF Green again. Got great airfare deals with Southwest which is wonderful since we're a family of five!!

Just outside Springfield. We closed last week on a new home, so we are very, very, happy.

levittown, pa, just outside of philadelphia...we always drive down...we start out in the middle of the night and can make it there in 15 hours...

We're from Seattle and we always fly. I wish we were closer since it takes a whole day's worth of flying just to get there.

Virginia checking in!

We've been flying to Orlando lately, but have driven many times before. We can make it there in 12 hours, door to door. With brief combination gas fill-ups/potty breaks, and bringing a cooler with sandwiches, snacks and drinks (to avoid having to stop to eat) it's always been 12 hours for us, but man it's one long drive!

We live in Mexico City now. We are looking forward to our first WDW trip from here in September. We will also be on the Disney Magic Cruise in December!

We're from NorthEastern Pennsylvania. MapQuest tells me we are about 1110 miles from WDW--but we always fly ;)

We live in Voorhees, New Jersey. 30 minutes from the Philadelphia airport. We always fly. Can't see the point in driving when we can get airfare pretty cheap from Airtran or Southwest.
But we also don't have any children yet so its just the two of us.

We are from a small town surrounded by cows, north of Detroit (Oakland County burb). Every trip since 1995 we've flown either from Detroit Metro or Flint Bishop airports. We're 1200 miles from the House of Mouse and I don't miss that drive one bit! I do get occassional cravings at 3am for a pecan waffle from a Waffle House, though. They were the only thing open during our all night drives! My DD learned to count in Waffle Houses. She'd count the spoonfuls of grits (she loved the things... I hate them!) as she ate them. She still to this day calls them griPs!

Since Airtran started their flights out of Bishop, we can't beat their price or their schedules and use them exclusively! My poor northwest miles are going unused since I prefer the airtran schedule (and location!) to NWA!

onecoolmama --
if it's any help to you, we flew down from detroit to orlando when my son was 6 weeks old and he was just fine...

as for the question:

we used to be from suburban detroit (oakland county - the burb that has "hills" in its name :D )
before i married, when my parents, my sister and I first started to go to WDW (in 1973), we always drove down (two days, stopping somewhere in georgia)...

however my DH won't consider driving, so over the past 26 years, we've only flown.....despite the fact that i'm terrified of flying....(really more like terrified of crashing).....

we now live overseas (waving to the other expat who posted  )...
we have to endure a 12 hour non-stop flight to new york.....then changing planes to catch a flight from NY to MCO.....with the travel time to the airport, security time at the airport, plane change time, etc., it's a 24 hour trip.....

to the person who's flying from amsterdam to london to orlando.....we once flew directly from amsterdam to orlando (KLM subsidiary)....is that flight no longer available?....i hate flying through london (unless i get to stop and spend some time there)....

anyway....my DD and i would much prefer to drive from NY to Orlando (even moreso now after 9-11), but DH and DS won't hear of it.....too bad.....i really really really really really hate flying.....:(

We are from Atlanta, Ga. We almost always drive down (about 8 hrs), but when we catch a special, we will fly. We have not flown in 3 years, so as you can see the specials are not there now.
We make a day of it, stop at the Fla rest center, and drink free OJ, picnic by the palm trees, just like my mom did 30 years ago for us! We have a car with a DVD player in it, makes the drive much bearable for us and the kids!! (Did NOT have that 30 years ago!)
We drove our mom nuts, but had fun counting cars, playing alphabet with licence plates, counting trucks, boats, sorry I regress!
See you on the road!!
:)

We live in Corpus Christi, Texas, I don't know how long the drive is but we are flying out of a Houston airport and its only a 3 hour flight.

We're from central NJ. We've only flown previously but are trying the drive this time. We're stopping overnight as we have three small children and I don't think they could take a straight through drive. We'll see how it goes.

Detroit Suburb, Michigan. When my husband was still alive we would drive to Orlando and stop for 2 nights. He was terrified of flying. Now that he is in a much better place, the kids and I just fly from DTW to MCO and it only takes 2.5 hours.

We are moving there this July, so I guess we will have to drive it. It will take a looooong 15 minute drive!! :teeth:
