Where are the Biggest Portion Sizes for Sharing Meals?

My boyfriend and I are going in January 2015, and this is our first time not getting the Dining Plan. It's expensive, it's always too much food, and I really don't need to eat two desserts a day. We're also not really big soda or juice drinkers. It's generally water or wine/beer for us.

BF is less convinced that we'll come out better financially without the Dining Plan. So I've suggested we split QS and TS meals on some of the days. We'll be staying at the ASMu and will not have a car, so we won't have the luxury of picking up groceries and eating in the hotel. (Unfortunately I'm gluten free, otherwise we'd bring down something like bread and peanut butter for the mornings. We're also Canadian, which means bringing down say, a bag of apples is a no no at Customs.)

So, where in WDW have you found the biggest portion sizes that would be good for splitting an entree between two adults (we're light to moderate eaters)?? Any specific restaurants or specific dishes you can think of?

You might want to order a few things from one of the companies that delivers grocery to the resorts. Garden Grocer does a great job, and we have never any problems. Just make sure your going to eat what you order and not throw away anything.

There are items that you can pack to bring, cereal/ granola bars, chips, cookies all kinds of things. My friend makes homemade cookies, muffins, & brownies, baggies them up and puts them in air tight containers, for the flight and this way she has a container for them while at the WDW.

As far as sharing meals, Head over to allears.net they have a current menu and prices so you can see ahead of time what you might be interested in. I like to know what my options are ahead of time, so if you get hungry you can head into a place and have a heads up on what might work for you.

DH and I sometimes, enjoy sharing appetizers instead of a meal. Raglan Road has a great appetizer platter for sharing, if you need something green to go along we have gotten a side salad, it was just right. Tutto has a great antipasto platter with a glass or two of wine, then share dessert. :thumbsup2 You can also eat your way around the World Showcase in Epcot for dinner one night, lots of small items to taste and grab a glass of wine or beer to share along the way. Rainforest and T-Rex also have great appetizers to share, as well as some huge portions for meals to share as well.

Earl of Sandwich ( DTD) while I would not suggest sharing here, the price point is very good and the sandwiches are yummy:thumbsup2.

With the GF you can let your server know and they will have a chef come out and talk to you, and let you know your options.

POFQ and POR - have make your own pasta and salad at the food court, this way you can check out another resort, also you can ride the boat back to DTD if you wanted to for the evening.
