When visisting Disney World

We've stayed at Pop, all three All-Stars, POR and POFQ, AKL, Yacht Club, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Dolphin, Saratoga Springs, Fort Wilderness cabins and Wilderness Lodge. My favourite is AKL, but I also really liked the cabins at the Fort, the Polynesian and Yacht Club.

Our only rule is to not stay at the same resort two trips in a row. :) Our 3 favourite resorts that we will alternate from the most are Pop, POFQ and AofA.

I love trying new resorts and am dying to stay at the Poly, Contemporary, and Boardwalk. DBF, however, is a creature of habit. We stayed at POR two trips in a row and it was a hassle to get him to agree to stay at WL our last trip! Of course, now that we've stayed there, he never wants to stay anywhere else! :rotfl:

We are DVC members and we love to try all the different resorts! My boys don't care where we stay. They're just happy to be in Disney. pixiedust:

does your spouse and kids like to stay at the same resort or try new ones?

I will admit we have only stayed at three resorts. (Caribbean beach, wilderness cabins and Animal Kingdom).

So we are throwing around the idea of going this summer. I want to try a new place...I have three possibilities. Dh only wants to go to the cabins and the kids only want to go to Animal Kingdom. :rotfl2: Not adventurous here. Anyone else?

I like to stay at different places. I've done all levels and the cabins. But my favourite is BWV. Used to love Pop Century but I've heard the food court has gone downhill.

Since you mentioned the cabins, although I found them dark I do understand why your DH loves them. There is such a feeling of serenity at Fort Wilderness.

The kids are most likely going to love anywhere you go; honestly, I would just stick to what you and your husband want.

If you want something different, but are trying to please him too, what about renting DVC points and doing the SSR treehouses or a Villas at Wilderness Lodge one bedroom?

Or maybe OKW if you would like bright and he likes to feel away from it all. Those one bedroom balconies are heavenly.

But I don't think there would be anyone that could ever dislike a vacation at BC/BCV. It's so close to Epcot. Has SAB and a wonderful pool bar. :thumbsup2

Sorry, it just occurred to me that you didn't ask for advice on where to stay, just if we're adventurous. Insert smile.

How do you know which is your favorite unless you try new places?

It took us a few trips to finally venture to new ones. We love AKL! :lovestruc

We've tried different places ( CR, Poly, Grand Floridian, BC/YC, BWI, Port Orleans, POP, All Stars, and Swan Dolphin) and have also over the years stayed in the same hotels because we prefer them. Yacht club/ beach club are our favorites.

Last time DH and I were in WDW without the kids we stayed at POP. I told the kids now that they are older next time we visit we will stay value. They werent happy but I told them it will free up money for us to go to the waterparks and Disneyquest.

I love trying out new resorts! We have stayed at Pop about 3 times, its our fave. But we have also stayed at POR, CSR, ASSp, ASMov...i feel like im leaving out a couple more? Anyway. This upcoming trip im hoping to stay at BC or Contemporary for a couple of nights before our cruise.

I think you should try to convince the fam to try something new. BC maybe? if you show the kids pics of the really awesome pool area, they might like it. The bonus is that its located right by HS & Epcot.

This is currently my top choice. My dd actually looked at the pictures and likes it. I really want to go to the Polynesian but worried about the refurb this summer.

....although I'd love to try BC/YC (or BW) [we've stayed at S/D twice and love its location!!] we always opt for AKL, since it is our absolute FAVE!

I will admit I do love it there. We have now stayed twice and had such a good time.

I love trying new resorts and have a goal of staying at every on property resort. I've almost reached that goal!

We are DVC'ers and usually will add a night or two at a non DVC resort to try out new places. We've stayed at almost all DVC resorts at WDW, just need to try GFV!

DH & kids go along with whatever I want usually, but if we stay at the same place 2x's in a row, they are ready for something new.

A split stay is a perfect compromise! :thumbsup2

I have thought about a split stay but I don't know once I am settled I am a bit lazy :rotfl2:

Thanks for the advice. Although no I didn't ask I like to hear opinions anyway :lmao: DH is from PA and country so your right that is why he loves the cabins. I love an area that had the pool bar so one of the reason I Loved AKL. So far BC is a contender. :thumbsup2

For other destinations, we like to stay in the same place.

For WDW, we're determined to stay once in each; although now that we've fallen in love with the GF/Poly combo split stays, we may be done with that nonsense.

They are both in my contending list. The only thing about GF is I am not sure how much the kids will like it. We did a dinner there last summer and they still love AKL over it.

Overall I am glad to see we are not the only ones who tend to stick to the same places. :thumbsup2

DH and I stayed at the Contemporary once and liked it really well, but when I went with my Mom we decided to try Port Orleans Riverside and really, really loved it. So the next time DH and I went, that's where we stayed. And my DD and I went to Disney for a week this past September, and stayed there too. A year from now we plan to stay there again. We just enjoy it there so much that we don't want to try anywhere else and maybe not like it as well. If we were able to go every year, or more often as some do, then I would be more willing to try other places. But since we don't go all that often I just want to stay where I love. :)

And besides the pool bar - the slide at SAB is wonderful. :goodvibes

Although you have to cross the path to get there, people walking to dinner and such.

It builds confidence. :rotfl:;)

Always a different resort.
First trip was Poly. Had a friend who was a reservation specialist. She called at last minute and offered upgrade to Poly for 40$ (4 nights) I said "ok". Had no idea. NO IDEA!!! We were booked in Caribbean Beach.
WOW! So fortunate.
Next trip was off site.
3nd trip was off site also for first 1/2 then we stayed at Buena Vista Palace.
4th trip was at Dolphin.
5th trip was All Stars Music
6th was Pop Century.

I have also been to Disneyland twice (and planning the third) and stayed at Disneyland hotel the first time, off site second time.

Done Pop, POR and the Cabins. This trip it will be CSR and the cabins. (DH loves staying at the cabins.)
