When to mail graduation invitations?

My oldest DS graduates from high school June 5th. I have his announcements/invitations ready, just not sure when I should mail them. For most of our family, it is between a 2-5 hour drive so many of them will need to make hotel plans.

Any suggestions?

I would do 6 weeks out like you do for wedding invites. You can never really send these things too early really though.

If I were one of those traveling 2-5 hours, and needing hotel rooms - I would want to know already.

We had the same type of graduation weekend - times 3 nieces. The grad weekend just happened to fall on the same weekend/city as the state high school track meet, and hotel rooms were REALLY hard to find. After the first niece graduated - my SIL learned (as did we) to let us know in about Feb that what the tentative grad party plans were.

So - I say get those things in the mail...
