When to buy MNSSHP tickets

We haven't decided if we're going to MNSSHP yet and wondered if waiting to buy the tickets when we're there is a smart thing to do. Does this usually sell out before the date? I'm looking at Oct 8th.

Also, how much are the tickets?

In my experience, only Halloween night sells out reguarly. Other nights usually have tickets available the night of the party; however, if you really want to go and will be dissappointed if the tickets do sell out for your night then you should buy them when you can. Just decide for sure what night you want to go as the tickets are non-refundable.

Advance: Adult $31.95....Child (3-9) $25.95
Gate Price (night of party): Adult $34.95...Child (3-9) $28.95.
Advance purchase means any time before actually being at the Ticket and Transportation Center on the night of the party you've chosen to attend.You can purchase them at your resort the day of the party at Advance prices.You ONLY require a MNSSHP ticket to attend this event.The tickets are non refundable and the party will go on...rain or moonlight

Are you sure about getting the advance price at the resort on the day of the party? We decided to go to MVMCP on the day of the party in 2002 and paid full price at the BW front desk. The weather was awful on that trip and we were trying to decide between Tuesday & Thursday. When it cleared up Tuesday afternoon (after over 24 hours of straight rain), we decided to go that night. Good thing because Thursday night ended up being a total washout.

The website says park admission is required. I assumed that you had to pay for a regular ticket and for the MNSSHP ticket on top of that. Is that correct?

As long as you enter after 4:00pm, you just need the MNSSHP ticket.

Other nights do sell out, usually those closest to Halloween. This year the 29th will almost certainly sell out because alot of locals will go then. You just need a ticket for it if you enter after about 4.

We went the first week in October last year and just bought the tickets a few days before. A few friends decided to join us and purchased the tickets on the day at GF and got the advance purchase rate!
