When to book for Jan 2007

I have talked my husband into the trip of a lifetime. The only things is I told him I would run in the Marathon. Oh well I have a year to get ready, and I did not say how long it would take!

Now when should I make my reservations? The website is not booking Jan. 2007 yet. Do you think it would be good to get a AAA membership?

This is what I want:

5 people total myself, DH, 18, 15, and 13 year old kids.

We would like the Beach club 2 room villa, 8 day pass with hopping and DQ. Dinning plan. We would like to rent boats but the other stuff on the premium plan is not stuff we would use. Maybe a backstage tour or segway, but not sure if that would justify the price. The tours are not things we would do if not included.

Please any advise would be great.

I'd recommend looking into renting DVC points from a member rather than booking a villa through CRO. A BCV owner could start booking for you 11 months out from your second day (i.e. Feb 2nd for a Jan 1st check-in, etc)

Check out the rent trade board for details.

I started by renting BCV points for a studio from an owner for January 2006.
THen i realized January weather might make the Storm Along Bay part a waste.
So asked rentor to move reservation to May and stayed at POR.And it was cold for this years marathon weekend so it would have been a waste.
Now I get to go to BCV in May!

Made reservations by phone for POR French Quarter for next year. It (or OKW) will be close to the start. One of the WISH runners was able to sleep in late because she knew how to walk to the start line instead of taking a bus 2 hours earlier and i plan to do this next year. Rate isn't set for next January yet. And as it gets closer I'll check if any AAA rates apply to room.
