When they say going to Disney is too expensive…

A night out to see The Nutcracker for 2 adults and a child.

Tickets - $515
Parking - $11
Dinner in the City - $100
Nutcracker Souvenir - $70
Dessert after the show - $40

Realizing how much you get for your money at Disney - priceless.
Totally agree with this!! I price out different vacations all the time and events, and when you really break it down, Disney is not that bad :lovestruc

And not every Nutcracker has a live orchestra 😉 some use a soundtrack and still charge outrageous prices.

$140 for dinner and dessert for three isn't half bad either, now that you mention it.

But the overall point is well-taken. I caught the Marquette @ Wisconsin basketball game a week ago for about $85 all-in. That was a good seat, but it was also a singleton, so below market. The get-in price for the rest of the Michigan hockey season is about $100, and those are for high up in beind-the-goal-Michigan-defends-for-two-periods seats. They are having an exceptional season so far, so that's a little high but not eye wateringly so compared to the last few years.

I should check to see if the Red Wings get-in prices are cheaper---I bet they are.

Edited: they are, and by a lot. The get-in price for the next two games is sub-$30, though they are mid-week games against not-great opponents. The Leafs game (which is usually the highest demand on the schedule, bc the Toronto fans travel) is about $135. Still, might be time to go to a Wings game!

A 5 night WDW trip is encroaching on a dozen nights out at The Nutcracker 😁 The painful part is this type of spending back to back for days on end. There is a choice on paying extra for LLs, parties, hoppers, table service, etc. but boy can they add up quick!

I always chuckle inside when parents of young children complain about the price of bubble wands and balloons … just wait until they are grown and you are buying theme park mixed drinks at $20 a pop 😭 ❤️

When we do a basketball game we spend a bit less but not much unless we sit way up top.

My adult daughter just requested to go to Ogas on our next trip.

Yeah the back to back days of food expenses can add up. But since we are DVC and have a sorcerers pass and can fly a budget airline I was just thinking about how we can get a 12 hour jam packed day at Disney and even catch a show in the middle too! My main point was people complain anytime Disney raises any prices, but doing many things out of the house these days is expensive.

Absolutely! The variety too - there’s an endless number of quality things to do, an infinite set of ways to do them, and the majority can be shared with family/friends of all ages. No comparison really. Truly is spectacular in that regard. No day at a Disney resort ever needs to be the same.

Disney is expensive. So are the decisions made by OP to watch The Nutcracker. Both are extremely expensive ways, per hour, to keep your kids occupied. Just own up to it and say you like nice things!

Dude I do like nice things. Recently I was at the mall, not a fancy mall just an average mall and I had to pay $2 by credit card for my granddaughter to ride in the cars that used to be outside grocery stores for under 1 minute. So I know how to do non nice things to... and still by minute that costs more money than Disney. Lastly YES WE GO TO THE PARK DOWN THE STREET THAT IS FREE. I am not a stuck up snob that you are trying to make me out to be. I posted this in the DVC forum where we all have committed to going to Disney every year, I did not post this in the community forum. So please take your condescending attitude to someone else because I am not the person for it.
