Do you order the same thing most of the time or do you order something different each time?

We usually order out more than actually going out to the restaurant and I have to say that I usually order the same 2-3 things. I always look over the menu but retreat back to the same things.

Then I know people who will order something different every time.

What do you do?

It's a mixed bag for me. My first thought when I see a menu is a dish I have tried and liked. That's my default. If I can't make up my mind and I really liked it, that's what I'll get.

In the back of my mind I'm thinking I don't want to get a dish that won't impress me as much and "waste" my pick. I know it sounds crazy, but unless something looks and sounds as good or better than what I've had -- I'll just stay with the tried and true.

Both I guess.

I switch it up from place to place, but I generally get the same few things from a specific restaurant.

New and same but I do try to order some seafood item most of the time since we only have it at home about once a week. Take advantage of it when we are out.

We don't have order-in very often, usually pizza, so I get the same thing then. When we go out, I almost always order fish, because I'm the only one who eats it and it doesn't make sense to cook it at home just for me. I do change up what fish I eat - tilapia, flounder, trout, crab cakes (but only if the restaurant is known for its crab cakes!), shrimp, occasionally catfish.

I am a bit of a Foodie.
But, DH is not.
He is really focused on his diet, what he is putting into his body, and can order the same basic things, every time, over and over.
He is not likely to go out and splurge on any big, or expensive, or fancy dishes that might be high in fat/calories/etc.

So, a bit of a difference there.
We used to be able to order entrees to split. Especially since most restaurants serve SO much.
But, now, that doesn't seem to happen very often. Because, instead of a big fancy pasta dish, for example, DH will just have the chicken breast or small steak.
A to-go box for half of my order is almost always a part of the drill !

The thing is, I also want to know that I am going to be served something that I will like. So, I don't always to too far out of the box.

And, like others have mentioned. I tend to want to order the things out that I am not going to be likely to cook at home. Just as an example, Spaghetti, I can make any time.. Pizza, or a fancier more involved dish, I would definitely order that out. Don't want to order dishes at restaurants that I can make easily at home, just the way we like them.

We are creatures of habit in our family. We always look at the menu and think about ordering something new, and then end up ordering our old favorites.

Ah, I will usually stick with something I've tried and liked before but occasionally I will switch things up.
Like today, I always get chicken fingers at one restaurant because they are really good there but today we went and I got a "juicy lucy burger" because it had spinach and blue cheese on it and my dh raved about it last time we went there. Uh, not that great today, wished I have gotten the chicken fingers, lol!

same thing every time...Chicken Chimmi's with no beans and just mexican rice and ensalade...at the Mexican place.

at the seafood restaurant of choice...its always clams and shrimp and cole slaw and hand cut french fries...

maybe I should try something else...maybe some time..;)

Usually the same thing, although I suppose if I ate at the same restaurant a lot I would change it up from time to time. But I don't dine out very often and when I have a specific restaurant in mind, that usually means I have a specific dish in mind, so that's what I order. :)

When going to restaurants that are in the normal rotation I usually order the same couple of things.

I have more than likely tried a lot of different things but each restaurant makes something I really like so that is probably the reason I am going there.

There is a certain place I like the soy wings and meatloaf. I've tried other things but 9 times out of ten I'm going to order one of those 2 things.

There is another place I like their beef tips and country fried steak, chances are I'm ordering one of those 2 things.

I'm a creature of habit when we go out to eat. I generally find something I like and usually stick to that, and rarely order something totally different. I think that if I don't like it, I will just be wishing I would have ordered my tried and true entree.

I usually have a favorite entree for just about any restaurant we go to around here, but we did try Ruby Tuesday recently and I got a fish entree that was just a little too spicy so next time we go I'll be trying something different.

We have a local restaurant that my sister loves to go to when she's in town. We've been cleaning out my mom's house so she's been her almost every Saturday and my sister will always get the Jalapeno BLT because she can't find it anywhere local to her. I'm all over the place and get something different each time we go.

Aside from this, we don't often eat out so I do tend to eat my favorites. DH and I went to PF Chang's last week and I was traumatized that they'd taken mu shu chicken off the menu. It took me the better part of 15 minutes to decide on something else. :lmao: I was so psyched for mu shu chicken, I had to make it myself for dinner on another night.

I have my stand bys Sadly baby does not like any of them! :furious: So I keep having to try other things to keep this munchkin happy. :lmao:

I love trying new things so unless it is a place we go to very frequently where I've burned through most of the menu, I almost always order something different.

At our favorite haunts around town I typically eat the same thing. And that's mainly because I have a strict perimeter on my diet and for the most part have figured what does/doesn't work at those places. Plus eating out at those places isn't where I want to go off course.

However dh and I are foodies, so whenever we hit a new/trendy place or if we are out of town and going someplace known for a certain cuisine, I definitely step out of the box and try something new. I try to keep it as much in my self imposed dietary guidelines, but often times will go for something more exotic or fun!

If we are ordering in I tend to order the same one or two things every time. But when we go out I order something different.

I usually have a hard time making up my mind so I sometimes ask my husband to order for me and surprise me.

I usually stick with my favorites when we go out to eat. Dh loves to try new/different things so I get to try new stuff from what he orders but have the things I know I really like too! :)
