When Fort Animals attack ....

Yeah... but if you get 'em fresh off the road, they make for good eatin'!

Armadillo on the half-shell, anyone??

I thought Armadillo was "Opossum" on the half shell.:lmao:
I loved that George Strait song " Armadillo by morning ":rotfl:

I was going to try Armadillo once but I lost the coin toss and had to direct traffic.:rolleyes1

Here is something from the Michigan state University wesite
From the Armadillo FAQ

4. Do armadillos carry diseases, such as leprosy?
Wild armadillos have been known to be infected with the bacterium that causes leprosy (Hansen’s disease). The only cases of transmission from armadillos to humans have occurred in rare incidents in which people ate undercooked armadillo meat. If you have a pet (such as a dog, cat, or two-year old) that has recently interacted with an armadillo, you needn't worry about the danger of your pet becoming infected. So long as your dog, cat, or two-year old hasn't been dining on armadillo sushi, you have little cause for concern. Even if your pet does bite an armadillo, the risk of infection is quite low. Your pet is much more likely to be in danger of illness do to encounters with raccoons (prone to rabies), other dogs, cats or children than a (mostly) harmless armadillo.

So please order order you Armadillo cooked well done:lmao: ( this line not from the website )

I think thats all I have for now.

After the worst drive I've ever had on I77 N, I need a break so I'll post ---

'dillos carry leprosy

i have a black racer that i let live in the garage...he eats the rodents that sneak in the hole i haven't fixed...just like having a pet in that you have to clean up after it, but better because i don't have to entertain it! :lmao:

(I do love pets, in fact I have one (a sugar glider) and I am between dogs...;) )

You're letting snakes live in the garage...and you think they're pets...hmm...

Okay:rolleyes1 ...it's time for another dog.

I think I'll stick to the normal white meats!!

Armadillo kebobs ...not for me!! :lmao:

Once I was going to the comfort station really late at night and rounded the corner and there was an armadillo right in front of the door to the ladies shower. I almost stepped on it!! It really surprised me and I squealed really loud!! It left quickly, but I now poke my head around corners when walking around in the dark :-)

Although it didn't happen at the fort, one night while camping with my family, we were sitting around the campfire and it was getting late, so my husband took my kids to the comfort station before they went to bed. I fell asleep in my chair in front of the fire while they were gone, and when they came back, there was a skunk hanging out under my chair! They called my name, woke me up and explained the situation. They said they've never seen me run so fast, lol! It happened in near Cooperstown, and I guess this campground had a "friendly" skunk problem.

Sugar Gliders are adorable!!!

if i let that black racer in from the garage, i don't think he would care if rex was tasty or not....

DW would love a sugar glider. Do you have a picture I can show her?

Here you go...I would suggest if you get one that you get it right as it is weened(sp?) and hold it and feed it as much as you can for the first few weeks. I have had my male glider for 8 years and rex is so fun.

A few years back my younger sister left some cookies and her park tickets in my NEW cooler bag on the picnic table. We heard some noise that night and found the cooler bag missing. The campground sent someone out and they said it was a raccoon. They had been having trouble with them and that night they had apparantely partied. They had torn up a stroller and gotten into numerous trash cans. A few nights later my older sister & were coming back from the comfort station only to come face to face w/ two of the largest coons we had ever seen. :scared1: I'm oringinally from Georgia, so I've seen some big ones! The one was sitting by the trash can staring at us while he was opening a plastic salad container. We stood there for a while not sure if he was going to smack us for interrupting his dinner. We slid on by and went back to our tents.

We had something like that with the racoons happen to us too, not at the Fort though. We were tent camping and heard something outside. I looked out the zipper to see a racoon with his front paws on the top of the big picnic table and he was able to easily see over the top and then some. I told my wife I wasn't about to go out and face a four foot tall racoon! :lmao:

Aggghhhh!!!! Too funny!!!

We have coons empty out whatever the dogs dont finish in the dog bowls every night....me and the kids backyard camped last week and I could hear them goin at it....you would think they would work as a team...but they fight each other over who gets the good spot at the bowl...the good spot is where they can dip the food into the water bowl before cramming it into their mouths.

We live way back in the boonies and people drop their dogs off all the time. One day I looked out my window to check on the kids playing in the yard and noticed what I thought to be another stray dog. Looked a little closer and realized it was a bear making its way up my driveway. You've never seen a mother run down her kids to get them in the house so fast.

Whoa!! Thats scary!!! I mean, I think it would be very cool to look out in my yard and see REAL wildlife like THAT...but on the other side of cool, that could be so dangerous.
