when do your kids get out for summer vacation?

Hi, I am planning a summr vacation wdw stay for my daughter - she gets out of school on th 27th of May. I am trying to get an idea of whn kids across the nation get out of school so I can get an idea of what crowds are going to look like the first few weeks after she gets out of school thanks.

thank everyone for your responses - it is kind of intresting - I just assumed everyone got out at the same time - but when I looked at the easter break or spring break poll I realized veryone's schedules do not overlap

has anyone ever gove during the end of may beginning opf june time frame? is it a good time? was it crowded? not crowded? we went last year between the 7th and 15th of june and it was pretty good - crowded but not wall to wall people like xmas season or easter break... but at the end of that time like the 15th it was beginning to get pretty crowded -

anyone ever do the late may early june timeframe?

Our kids last day is May 26.

We took the kids to WDW right after school was out last year (May 29) for the week and found it to be a very good time to go. The Flower and Garden festival was still going on and we were able to do a Star Wars weekend. The crowds were not bad and the weather was not as hot as our trips in August.

Thanks for the input - yah... th impression I am getting is go to wdw right after she gets out - I was hoping to go later as discovery cove has a sleepover event where you spend the night, hang out with the dolphins and other critters...sleep on the beach and then wake up being the first people there... but that doesn't happen until the later half of June...so I guess I will just opt to do that some other time

May 21 is our last day of school here. Also interested in hearing of late May/early June crowd size. We are thinking about trying to get in a trip before the summer crowds hit!

Kids are out June 3, heading to DW June 4! This is the earliest we've ever gotten out, usually it's around the 10th.

We get out June 16th, it's actually early this year...then again snow days haven't been tacked on yet and last year we had a bunch. DH had suggested that we leave the night they get out since it's also my b-day! but...the DISer in me thought about it and since July 5th is value at the Deluxe's and we'd like to try out WL......well I'm looking into July now.

Wow, in NY we're getting out later than we have in a few years. the kids have their last day on June 23rd, and my last day is June 24th with graduationon the 25th. Seems like the school year here just gets longer and longer! When I was in HS we were finished by mid June.

wow those are late exits from school - if I remember right we always got out around June1 when I was a kid

My kids get out May 21 and that's the day we're leaving. Fortunately with us being there 1 week, when we're leaving everyone will be just getting there cause that's Memorial Day weekend. Perfect timing.

MY dd does not get out of school until the end of July. She only has one month off.

wow now that is new to me for sure. Is sh in one of the new year round schools where they go yar round and then take 1 month breaks? I wonder how many people in PA have such a late final date.

wow I just did searches and pulled up New York and New Jersey and Boston schools.

I did not check all of them but it seems Mass, NY, and NJ all get out pretty late... no earlier then the 15th and some as late as the 28th

the reason I find this significant (for purely slfish reasons) is that means the main population centers that could easily take a shuttle down to Orlando are still in school if I leave the last week of may.... so I have to assume that since the largest population centers on the east coast are still in session then the huge swell of vacationers won't hit until about the 15th of june. very interesting.


I would take my daughter out of school at some time of the year but she is obsessed with having perfect attendance

That's why the last weeks of August are good for us Northerners (crowd-wise) because our kids often don't start back until after Labor day. This year we started August 25, however.

Georgina has a good point. We get out May 26 but usually start the mid. of August. We plan on being at SSR June 6-16. Would love to go sooner but want to avoid Memorial Day and gay day crowds.

yeah that is interesting you bring that up...1) memorial day is that slammed? and 2) what is the atmosphere like during gay days
