When do the crowds start picking up for spring break?

Our spring break is the first week of April. We are "dreaming" of a [2nd honeymoon] trip in mid-to-late April, after kiddo is back in school.

We're in Lubbock and haven't had rain in over 100 days. Of course, now we're expecting snow this weekend after a high of 74 today.

My daughter is flying to Lubbock tomorrow! She'll be thrilled if she sees snow!

I'm with you as I'm going in April too.

From what I have read it seems like the crowds will be spread out from early March to mid April. A lot of schools are changing vacation times. I remember a while back some one did a poll here and the vacations were pretty spread out. We also have to contend with college breaks. Five years ago we went spring break and the crowds were bearable.

Just a quixk heads up though....easter itself is INSANE! It was worse than fourth of July and Christmas- the days after got decreaingly crowded- but I said never again on the actual holiday!
