When do fastpass machines open?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if FP machines are up and running immediately when the parks open, and what the first return times usually are. On our March visit, parks open at 9 most days.

Specifically, I was wondering if on our AK day I could get FP for the safari immediately and explore Asia first thing, returning to Africa when our window opens.

FP machines are up and running when the parks open. The first return time for the Safari is typically 9:45am, which can fluctuate 15 minutes or so in either direction, depending upon projected attendance.
Obtaining your FP first then touring Asia sounds like a good plan to me
