When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

Good morning all! And Barb - congrats on that awesome loss!!!! I did a little dance in my chair when I read that.

I am +2 pounds today, but I'll take that after the 7 pound gain I mentioned earlier in the week. It seems I might have been retaining a little bit of water. Sometimes it is no fun being a girl. However, the 2 pound gain I will own. I figure it is the rest of the holiday weight catching up with me.

Ok, off to a very busy week. I have about 10 interviews today for my assistant positions and then it's design meeting week here. Lots to do, little time to do it. Hang in there everyone!

Good morning!!!

I am -.4 today. It's small, but it's something!!! I drank a lot of water yesterday, so that helped.

I hope to keep bypassing the sweets today. That is my goal. I might even get out for a walk with the dog tonight. He doesn't like the salt/sand on the streets, but it's supposed to snow a little (of course it will, it is warming up to 20 degrees!), so it might be better. Poor little guy needs some Doggy Uggs!!

Congrats to all the losers (heh heh, that NEVER gets old!!) and thanks for the warm welcome back!!

Going to be starting the TR right after lunch. :woohoo::woohoo:

On a sadder and more frustrating note...

I caught a nasty cold! :sad2:

I'm just thankful it happened AFTER my awesome Disney trip, however this weekend has been a mess of kleenex and coughing and I haven't tracked properly nor exercised. :guilty: Hence, I didn't bother to weigh in this morning so I have nothing to report at this time. Sorry.

Hoping that the chest congestion clears up soon so I can get going on my jogging (oh how I have missed thee this past 10 days) and lose some of that holiday gain!

Barb...I  the boo-ya comment. Laughed out loud at that one!!

Hey everyone!

Just a quick drive by post! So glad to see that things are picking up around here. I will do my best to contribute to that pick up! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Things are going well on my end. Eating is so weird though. Switching from counting cals/points to carbs is an interesting transition.

My sugars are still in range, which is great news. We have the sonogram scheduled for Monday, the 17th. Hopefully we'll find out what we're having, boy or girl wise. Obviously, it's a baby. :lmao: But knowing gender will be nice.

Thankfully the nausea and depression subsided before Christmas and have stayed away.

:worship::worship:

I have a nasty cough that will not go away. Hoping it resolves itself some more before we leave Wednesday for our Just Us Two trip. Hubby and I are doing Deluxe dining, which is gonna be a ton of food, but we're trying to do a lot of steak houses and Japanese food, etc that will allow me to pick mostly protein/veg choices. And thankfully Disney has a lot of yummy No Sugar Added Desserts. I had the Lemon custard one at Mama Melrose's in December and it was YUMMY!

Miss you all!!! Hoping to get back in a routine of posting, now that school's back in and life has settled into a pattern again. At least for now!

Good luck to all of you as you're all recommitting for the new year! I can't wait to get back on the weight loss raft with you all this summer!!!

 Dawn! Glad to see you around!

Take care everyone!! Knock that scale out!!!

Hey Gelly - how long are you going to be in the world for? We leave Fri for a week. Looks like we will be there at the same time.:wizard:

Hey Heather!! We're gonna be there Wed-Sunday so we'll definitely overlap our times!! Where are y'all staying?!

We are staying at POP. Where are you staying? We are going to AK on Sat and MK on Sunday (we have ressies at the Crystal Palace for breakfast - my SIL loves Winnie the Pooh) If you see 2 over 30 year old gals wearing pink sparkling mickey bobble head headbands and one TALL guy wearing a pirate goofy hat that will probably be us.) I will be the short one as my hubby is 6'4 and my SIL is 6'. Have a great trip.

Hi all,

I'm down .8 this week so not quite a pound, but I'm ok with that. I didn't track this weekend. BOO to me. I really have to find some low cal options for me to eat when I'm frustrated at work. I plowed through about 10 hershey kisses today and really didn't even taste or enjoy them. Just kept unwrapping and popping them in my mouth. I sent my weight to both Heather and Dawn.

Need to rant -
My mom called me on Sunday morning to let me know that her furnace stopped working. My older son has been staying over there to keep an eye on her (and her to keep an eye on him) but he would be coming back home to get warm. She refused to come over. She has a fake fireplace type space heater and said that would be good enough. She didn't want to call anyone to come out figuring on a Sunday it would cost an arm and a leg. I called her this morning (record low temperatures here - 30s - hey for CA thats COLD) and she had a hard night. I sent Steven back over with another space heater and told her to call the repair place ASAP. I talked to her at lunch and she had just found the paperwork for the furnace and would be calling the company that she bought the furnace from. Gee, then can come out on January 24. WHAT??? I know that there must be a lot of people that are having issues, but dang she's 85 and without heat. I did a search on Yelp and found a company that had rave reviews. She called them and they are sending someone out tomorrow. I just hope that they show up and are able to fix it without it costing a fortune. Ok, rant over...

Now going to have dinner, burger and baked sweet potato fries. Hopefully enough comfort food to calm down the munchies.

Thanks for all the nice words! I almost didn't post that because it sounded like I was bragging too much. I was just so excited that I was able to get back on track, and didn't let those holiday pounds stick around. For the first time EVER, I want to be able to not worry about looking good in any pictures we take in Disneyland.

Well I am -1.1 today which I will gladly take since I thought with the eating out I've done lately that I was going to be up. Still have a bit to go to get to where I was before the holidays but if I can loose that this week and go on the trip where I was before the holidays I will be happy. My goal when I come back in 2 weeks is to at least stay the same (would love a loss and will try for a loss). I don't want to have a gain and then have to work that off before I can start again.

I think you can hit your goal, you've got your mojo going now. :thumbsup2 Your trip sounds like so much fun. I had to laugh at your description about being the "short" one. I'm not a short person (5' 7") but my two brothers are 6'4" and 6'3" and when I'm around them I feel REALLY short.

Water weight is the pits... never really noticed it before but man I do now. Not sure if that's because of the weight loss or because I'm getting older (i.e. old lady hormones). Interviewing can be fun, or it can be a pain in the rear. Which is yours turning out to be?

We're having unusually cold weather here - today the high is in the 40's, and tomorrow we aren't going to get out of the 30s. Hey, for Texas this is COLD!!! My son looked like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man going to school today. ;)

Hey lady, glad to hear things are going well with you. How many weeks along are you now? Will you be sharing the gender if you're able to find it out? This way we can have a baby naming contest. I'm voting for Beauregard if it's a boy, or Magnolia if it's a girl. ;)

The worry never ends, does it? Just when we think we can stop worrying so much about our kids, then we have to start worrying about our parents. And sometimes they're worse than kids! Like you I'm a worryier so I get why you're feelling so stressed about this. I hope it all goes OK today.

eek! My snow days have thrown off the routine:sad2: Been waaaay too close to the fridge and pantry the last couple days. I am one of those weirdos who doesn't like snow days. Need the routine of work!

I can't seem to settle in lately since I'm ready to book something for WDW in June. Waiting for DH to give me the go-ahead for dates. Have the savings $ ready! Then I can settle in and think about a bathing suit. :scared1:

Beauregard and Magnolia....

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

And may I say...it's about TIME someone else around here did some bragging! (Even though it really wasn't!!!) I was getting tired of being the only one...it made me look so self centered...not that I'm not, but...

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Good morning everyone. I hope you are surviving the snow if you are getting it. We got a little bit here in STL - not really anything to worry about, but people here don't know how to deal with snow so everything is closed and everyone is freaking out. 3 inches of snow in Minnesota means nothing. 3 inches here means NEWS!

I got a great compliment from my boss today. It's my first day wearing contacts. He stopped in this morning and he said "Wow. you are really beautiful. I mean, you were always a pretty girl, but without your glasses..." I've never considered myself to even be passably cute so it was a real morale booster. Especially after last night. My eye appointment was really late and I was starving by the time I headed home. Without even thinking, I pulled into McDonald's and got a burger and fries. YIKES!!!! Not good, not healthy, and I didn't get to the gym because of the late appointment. Making better choices today. Let's hope I hang in there.\

Have any of you ever tried the Special K protein water? My mom recommended it. She got gastric bypass right before Thanksgiving and needs it to get all of her protein in during the day. I don't get a lot of protein either, thanks to being poor and to my carb addiction. I'm giving it a try this week to see what happens. I'll let you know.

Ok, off for more interviews. I have interviews scheduled from 1-5 solid today. Sometimes I hate the process, but I need some really good assistants for the summer.

Hello to all my Skinny Island Friends!!

Sadly, I believe my raft floated adrift about 8 months ago and I was struggling to find my way back. Finally here I am!!

So, here is an update on me :goodvibes

I started again last Tuesday at 234.0 lbs.
I am doing a modified South Beach Diet (I really do not believe in going without dairy and fruit for two weeks)
I am 8 days in and have lost 7.8 lbs. Yes, I know that is mostly water weight, but hey, I'll take it!

Now I am at the "blues" part. Which is likely magnified by the fact that I hate January:sad2: It is just so cold and ugly and blech!!! Right now it is -19C which is -2.2F. I am questioning our reasoning for changing our January 2011 trip to November 2010!! Why-o-why are we not somewhere HOT right now!!

Anyway, just wanted to say HI!! A few of you I have on Facebook, so I have a few updates and I went back a few pages on the thread to get caught up again. Can't wait to get back on board!!

Greetings fellow castaways!!!

This is Duchie, coming to you LIVE from SKINNY ISLAND! :beach:

My raft FINALLY docked here this morning. And the island is beautiful. It's so warm on the sand, the water is refreshing. :cloud9: Haven't explored too much lately but hopefully I'll find Raul and get a lovely massage later.

Oh sure, there were some rough seas this weekend. After the holiday and all that travel, I was actually +1.6, which I didn't think was too bad considering I didn't work out at all and enjoyed all the great food last week. Plus it was my birthday on Saturday so there was cake - carrot cake (my favorite), so I'm sure it was somewhat healthy right? ;)

But a couple of days of making sure I drank enough water and sticking to healthy choices have me down 2 pounds. So my official loss is 70.2 :cheer2:

For those of you following WW, there was another big event this week. They totally changed how the Points program is working. Is anyone else struggling a bit with this? It's just that after doing it for so long, I had a pretty good idea of what the point value of stuff would be. Now it's all different and I'm having to re-learn it all over again. So it's a bit challenging.

It's also finally getting cold here so I'm starting to pull out my winter stuff. These are things that I haven't worn since March. Ummm..... wow. Just.... wow . I simply can't believe how big these look on me now. With my summer stuff the loss was more gradual so I didn't notice it. But with this, the difference is drastic. I've got some shopping to do!

Wish I had more time to read and update. I do know that I'm in for the December challenge - one day at a time (LOVE that!!!). I'll try to catch up with everyone later. :)

Duchie - I had to tell you congrats!! And your post made me tear up!! I am proud of you!! I look forward to hearing about how maintainence goes.

Talk to you all soon!

Amy

Mom2faith - Welcome Back, glad to have you back and congratulations on the weight loss this week. It may be water weight but it is still weight:cool1:

I am doing pretty good this week. I will weigh in on Friday before I leave for vaccation. Anyways since this is Wednesday I will post the results for this week...

Stitchfan23 - -1.1
2_Eagle_Mom - -0.8
MNdisneygirl - -0.6
Ski_mom - X
Stacybaesem - +2
Dutchie - -3.2
Mom2faith - -7.8

Total loss so far - -11.5 lbs

What a great week everyone!!:worship::wizard:

Okay I will be gone for 2 weeks so I will start tracking again unless we hear differently from Dawn when I get back.

Had to share....

On the phone with Disney Cruise lines as I type! Booking cruise #2 with a PIN we received!!

If all goes well, I will HAPPILY miss 1/2 of our cold next January as I will be on a cruise and then at WDW!!

YEAH!! I booked Cruise #2 today!! We will be on the Disney Dream next January! The PIN I got was not excellent, but it was pretty good. Now I have a goal for my weight loss!! I want to be a "Skinny Minnie" next January!!

So here is my daily update. I eat pretty muchthe same thing everyday, at least for the first two weeks on induction. Like I said yesterday, I am not as strict as I should be as I allow myself 1 fruit and 1 dairy each day.

Here is my meals:

Breakfast
- Scrambled Eggs with spinach and cheese

Snack
- Apple with Peanut Butter

Lunch
- Salad and a protien (usually last nights dinner or some tuna)

Snack
- Skim Milk Latte (MMMMM Guess what I got for Christmas! An Espresso/Latte machine that I LOVE!)

Supper
- Varies, but is usually a protein with salad and steamed brocolli or similar green veggies.

I try to drink lots of water and a couple of cups of decaf tea each day.

I have NOT had A & W Diet Root Beer for 9 days!! I cannot believe I have gone that long, but I really wanted to cut out my syrup intake - even if it was sugar free.

I have had 1 cup of coffee in 9 days!! And that was just my sunday morning cup with a splash of French Vanilla Creamer - my only cheat in 9 days!! And the sugar got to me!!

After my two week induction the plan is to put whole grain healthy crabs slowly back into your meals. I am thinking of starting with Oatmeal at breakfast. Other than that, I think I will keep mext week the same and go from there.

Funny thing is, except for yesterday on my "bad" day, I do not even want to cheat. Once I got the sugar and carbs out of my system, I do not really miss them! The first two days were bad, and I imagine TOM will be as well. But ("knock on wood") so far so good.

Talk to you all soon!!

Amy

Hey Amy!! I think it's awesome you're doing so great!! :cool1::thumbsup2:woohoo:

I find that I don't crave carbs if I severely limit them but if I splurge once it's a real struggle to get back on track.

Take this week for example...I start out great but around dinner, everything falls apart (and by this week I mean since Saturday when I got home).

Today however, I finally feel like I've got a handle on things and I expect to have a good report on Monday (although my weigh in day is Friday so it will be a small amount of progress but every little bit helps!!)

And I agree with Heather...weight loss is weight loss...regardless of whether it's fat or water. Great going!!!!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks for the encouragement!!

I used to feel the same way, where it all went down hill at dinner. But this time it is different. Mostly because I am just not hungry at dinner. For me it was having a lot of protein and very little carbs that works. For you it might be something else. I guess the trick is finding waht works!!

Creativity is the worst!! How can I make "this" meal low carb? How can I have "this" without sugar? etc. I know I am going to hit that creativity wall soon!!

I barely choked down my eggs this morning. I cannot eat eggs everyday!! But, after 4 more days I can work carbs back in. So my plan is to add that oatmeal. I cannot wait! I am already craving it!! And what is 4 more days right?

What do you girls do for protein at breakfast? I am thinking Turkey Bacon with my oatmeal.....

I had a big ol' long response typed out but I lost it. :confused3 Ah well, technology is a lt like men - can't live with it, can't live without it. Now that I think about it, that goes for pizza too.

I'm madly trying to make plans for our DLR trip. I guess I just kept thinking that since it's DLR, you really don't need to plan all that much which is true. But there are still some things that need to be arranged. I'm glad I waited until now to do it because it's making the time go by faster.

I'm holding steady on the beach. And by that I mean my weight is fluctuating within +/- 2 pounds of my goal weight. In WW when you get to maintenance you get to add a few more daily points. I'm finding that when I do, I gain a pound or two. I'm trying not to stress because maintenance is all all about staying in that range, and I'm able to do that. Gals let me tell ya, maintenance sometimes seems harder than losing!

On to responses.....

Hi Amy! Great to see you back on the raft. Thanks so much for your very sweet words. :) The cruise sounds wonderful! We've tossed around the idea but I'm too afraid of my youngest DS falling overboard. And trust me, if anyone is going to fall overboard, it's him.

Okay I will be gone for 2 weeks so I will start tracking again unless we hear differently from Dawn when I get back.

Will you be in WDW for the entire 2 weeks? That's awesome! And you're right, any loss is good, no matter how small or if it's all water or what.
