When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

No we will be in Disney for 8 days with my SIL and then hubby and I are going on a Carribean cruise out of Fort Lauderdale on the Allure of the Seas. I can't wait, less than 24 hours and I will be heading to the airport.:cool1:

Have a great trip!!! I'm super jealous - 8 days in Disney AND a cruise sounds like a dream.

I'm home sick today. Yesterday I was feeling great, ate well, had a great workout at the gym, etc. Around 9pm I suddenly got a headache, started coughing, and felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. When I woke up this morning, I sounded like a bass. It's days like these that I miss having a roommate or significant other. NO one to run out and get me cough medicine and ice cream.

Ok, tomorrow is another day and I'm going to be better if it kills me. Off to take more cold medicine.

That sounds heavenly! Have a wonderful time!

Aww sweetie, I'm sorry you're feeling bad. If you lived closer I'd run out and get your medicine for you.

Thanks everyone, I am soooooo excited. Just finished packing and have decided that I am not doing this again. Having to pack for two different climates and trying to get a suit and 2 formal dresses plus dress clothes in 2 suitcases has been a challenge. Oh who am I kidding of course I would do it again.

We figured we would piggie back the trips (we usually go to Disney in April) since it would save the second airfare.

Stacybaesam - Feel better! Hopefully it will pass quickly. Sending you a little pixie dust :wizard:

Good morning!!

Stitchfan - have a great trip!! I would love to see pics of Allure when you return!! I am now a cruise addict!! (And since I am also from Canada, I know the piggy-backing well! We can only take 1 trip a year becuase of the airfare so it is usually 2 weeks and we squeeze as mucha s we can into those two weeks! Good luck packing! )

Stacy - feel better!!

I am also recovering today. Yesterday I started with the stomach flu all morning. Felt better, but did not want to eat the usual. So i had a piece of toast. I am so mad at myself today. I feel like a failure becuase I did not make it through my two weeks without carbs. Now I am not sure if I should start again or cut my losses and move on. it would be nice to complete something for a change - but the thoguht of eggs every morning for the next two weeks is enough to make me sick again - LOL!!

Down another 1.8 lbs so far this week. Slow and steady I guess. We will see what weigh in day brings.

Have a great day everyone!

Just a quick fly by :lmao:

Since we haven't heard from Dawn if you want to send me your weights for the next two weeks when I get back I will compile them and send out the totals.

Good luck everyone on having a very successful couple of weeks. I am going to try to be really good without giving up everything. We decided not to do the dining plan at Disney as it really is too much food so I should be able to do pretty good. I am just going to weigh in so that I know where I stand before I leave. Take care, be safe and I will miss you all (although I am sure I will hear a few of you in my head reminding me to be good):hippie:

Who hoo for the Canadians!! :thumbsup2

We usually drive down because we live right on the border but it's an 18 hour drive so DH always says we should make the trip worth it by staying a bit longer. (10-14 days)

This time we flew (of course in January neither one of us wanted to drive) so we only stayed a week. DD was sad it was such a "short" trip. :rotfl2:

Have a really great time Heather and we'll be here channeling our support and strength over the miles!! Talk to you when you get back!!

Just wanted to celebrate!!

After a mere TWO DAYS back on track, I am down 2.4 pounds!!

:cool1::banana::yay::woohoo::dance3:

I sure hope I can keep this up!!

Just saw on Dawn's TR that her fiancee' Dan had posted that Dawn was in the hospital with some kidney/bladder infection problems. She'd had this before, and they are trying to figure things out. So I would say she won't be DISing much for a bit.

I'm doing better this morning my weight was down a bit. But, I have four days of not going to work. Being home with all this food around is tough. MUST HAVE WILL POWER!!!!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP HEATHER!!!!!

It's rainy and cold here today (40's, which is cold for us). It's been this way all weekend and we really need the rain so I'm not complaining, really I'm not....

but....

Heather is on her cruise. Right now I am SO jealous! ;)

I hope Dawn is doing OK. :( Has anyone heard any updates?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi everyone. Sorry I wasn't around for a few days. I had bronchitus. I've had it many times before but I've never had it come on in a matter of minutes. Usually, you feel it coming for a few days. I'm on the mend now (actually, the only one at work today) so that's good.

Today was also my weigh in day. I wasn't expecting anything after 4 days of literally sleeping all the time but I was down -6.1 pounds!!!!:cool1: I don't what I did to earn that, but I'll take it.

I'm sorry to hear Dawn is back in the hospital. If anyone has updates, let us know!

so I'm still maintaining the weight I need to keep my hammock and tree:thumbsup2

Need to kick it up and get back on the loser track.

Shall we start something up? Feel like we're drifting away...

Hello all!

I am doing OK. Had a very long weekend but still managed to lose a little.

I am down -2.4 lbs from last week's weigh in so overall it was a good week.

Today I started putting carbs back in my diet (well, let's be honest, I did yesterday as i had a whole grain Pita at lunch).

So far I am adding oatmeal at breakfast (YEAH! No more scrambled eggs!!) and some Probiotic Yogurt at snack. Other than that and the apple/skim milk latte I was having last week, I am keeping it carb free. I could eat bread all day, so I am not even going there!!

The Pita at lunch was a good choice too because we got stuck in the city at lunch (we had expected to be home before lunch) and we were starving! So we went there instead of to Mcdonalds or some other fast food joint. The Pitas at Extreme Pita are very low in calories! I was very surprised, and happy that when we are out, we do have some healthy options that are quick.

Overall I am down -10.2 lbs ad still trucking along.

We are planning a trip to Edmonton for the February long weekend. It is just a weekend, but I am already stressing over the food. I have been researching my options at the places where we like to eat, but at the same time, I want to splurge a little - KWIM?

How do you ladies handle your weekends away?

mom2faith....When I go away, I usually choose ONE meal for splurging (or one particular special snack) and then do like you are doing and research everything thoroughly so I know what I can have at any given possible restaurant stop. I also usually pack myself some fruit, veggies and low point snacks to keep me on track.

HTH!!

I'm down 4 pounds this week so far!!! Who hoo! And that's just since Wednesday! Also, because I'm finally fully over my cold, I was able to go all out in my workout today too! Jogging for 30 mins once again (is it weird that I missed it??) and 90 minutes of hard core housework!! :cool1::cool1:

I took my photos off of my signature because I'm starting fresh in 2011. I can't wait to earn myself my first one and I'm hoping that the holiday gain is gone by the end of the month!

In terms of goals for 2011...I'm keeping it fairly simple. I can't say for certain how much I need to lose because I'm going to stop when I'm happy with my figure/dress size. I couldn't care less about the number on the scale in the grand scheme of things but I think a good ballpark estimate is a total loss of about 60 pounds.

If I get there and think I'd like to go a little further then so be it but it isn't likely to be more than 10 or 15 additional pounds. I'm aiming for size 8 so that'll be at the high end of my BMI range but as I said, I don't really care about that so much, I just want to be comfortable in my own skin.

So,

Goal #1 is to get to 199 point anything (and be under 200 pounds for the first time in a decade!!) :woohoo:

Since my holiday weight gain put me at 225.7 for my January weigh in and I'm currently 221.7 that means I'm 4 pounds down with only 22 pounds to go! :yay:

After that I'll just be working on 10 pounds at a time until I get to where I'd like to be! (Goals #2, #3, #4, #5 and perhaps #6).

I'm not even going to attempt a schedule of any kind because I have absolutely NO control over how fast the weight comes off (assuming I'm doing everything I'm supposed to) and if I don't make my projected timeline it always bums me out!

What are your plans for 2011 guys?? :confused3

Congrats on your loss!!

Loks like we are starting fairly close together and have roughly the same goals! It will be nice to have a buddy!! (Are you on Facebook - we should check in with each other!)

I started Jan 3 at 234.00 and am now 223.8, so just over 10 lbs. My goals are as follows:

Total - 94 lbs

Goal # 1 - 1/4, so 210 lbs
Goal # 2 - 199 lbs - and I am getting Gel nails!! I hate my nails and want to work towads this treat :)
Goal # 3 - 1/2, so 186 lbs
Goal # 4 - 3/4, so 162 lbs
Goal # 5 - SKINNY ISLAND 140lbs - this is the mid range of my BMI, I could stop at 153 lbs, but may as work towards the mid range! And then my reward is my Tattoo (and my life back!!)

I do have a timeline as I want to work on the 2 lbs per week so:

210 lbs - March 29
199 lbs - May 10
186 lbs - June 21
162 lbs - Sept 13
140 lbs - Nov 29 (Just in time for the holidays!!)

It is good to have goals!!

And, it is also good to start fresh and wipe the slate clean. You cannot fix the past, but you can change your future!

Have a great day!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to say hi  ! We're back from our couples trip and had a great, relaxing time. Deluxe dining is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much food for me, now. I knew I had changed my eating habits, but it was really evident with deluxe dining. We did Deluxe in January of 2010 and I was fine. A year later, I was miserable!! And I tried to watch what I ate carb wise, and sugar wise and portion wise and I was still miserable!!

Anyway....

we did have the 20 wk fetal anatomy ultrasound today. The baby looks great, which was a relief. I didn't know about my sugar issue with my first two pregnancies, so knowledge can be a blessing and a curse! I was more worried this time around.

But thankfully, everything looks good! Every anatomy piece was there that was supposed to be there, the heart looks great, etc etc. So that was such great news.

There was one piece of anatomy that was missing though.

No boy parts!

:cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1::banana: :cool1::banana:

We're having a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm beyond thrilled! Can't believe I'm having a baby girl!! So blessed and excited and happy!

Poor hubby... it's his birthday today and it's been totally overshadowed by our news!

Congrats to all of you ladies that are still swimming! Just keep swimming! Hope Dawn feels better soon!

Can't wait to join you guys back on the raft toward Skinny Island!!

I know the next 20 + 6 wks are gonna fly by!

Take care everyone!

:goodvibes :grouphug:

Gelly - CONGRATS!!!!:cool1::yay::dance3::cheer2: A little princess of your own. Why is it that as soon as I read that, I started thinking about all the wonderful Disney things you can get as gifts for the baby? Have you picked names yet?

On the flip side, has anyone heard from Dawn or gotten an update? I was going to try to call her last night but my bronchitus knocked me out at about 6:00pm so I failed. I might try her later today and I'll let you all know.

We're having a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh little Magnolia! I just can't wait to meet her!

Seriously, congratulations! So happy to hear everything is going so well this time around. I'm so proud of you for being so concious of your blood sugars. The next 20 weeks are going to FLY by!

That's a darn good week, missy. :thumbsup2 I have one goal - keep the weight off. I know it sounds very simplistic, but for me this is the hardest part. I really want to be here next year not having to buy new jeans because these skinny ones are too small. Now if they happen to be too big.... :rolleyes1

I am down -2.4 lbs from last week's weigh in so overall it was a good week.

Sounds like a good week to me! :thumbsup2

Today was also my weigh in day. I wasn't expecting anything after 4 days of literally sleeping all the time but I was down -6.1 pounds!!!!:cool1: I don't what I did to earn that, but I'll take it.

Yuck! The bronchitis, not the weight loss. The weekly loss is :cool1:.

so I'm still maintaining the weight I need to keep my hammock and tree:thumbsup2

Need to kick it up and get back on the loser track.

Shall we start something up? Feel like we're drifting away...

Don't give up now! Stick with us!

As for me, I stayed the same this week, which is what I'm hoping for. :) I did have to have a chat with my DD about that "monthly" weight gain issue. She's 12 and is starting to think she's "fat", even though our pediatrician and I both keep telling her she's just fine. She's exactly average for her age and height, but some of her friends are on the skinny side. Why oh why does the negative self-image have to start so early? :sad2:

And speaking of our pediatrician, I found out yesterday she is retiring. :sad1: She's been with our family since we moved here 13 years ago and has watched my kids grow up (oldest DS was 13 months old, younger 2 were born here.) I'm happy for her because she's deciding to spend some time at home, volunteer with the band, travel, hike, and really enjoy her time wtih her kids. But man am I going to miss her!

Hey guys - here's what Dawn posted last night on her TR thread:

"So you all will never believe where I ended up lat night about 8 p.m. in the middle of the Golden Globes? :confused3

Ok...you probably will guess since you are all so smart and everything! :lmao:

That's right...ER and promptly to hospital for another 15 hours of IV meds and hydration.

I will post pics of my arms for your entertainment soon. I look like my arms were used as a pin cushion by Helen Keller. :cool2:

Some more gut meds and a GI scope scheduled for Jan 27th. Dan will be out of town so I need to sucker my sister into going with me.

In fact Dan will be out of town minus a few days starting next Monday, until we leave for Spring Break....if I can go.

I might try and fly out to see him for a few days while he is in Seattle if I can but need to feel better and my health has to get to the point I am not in the docs office or ER as often as most people get to the grocery store.

They think I have come up with some strain of bacteria from all of the antibiotics I have been on. The doc told me 6 times what he thinks it is and now of course I have no memory. Something to do with antibiotics killing off good bacteria so nothing is left to fight bad ones and if this is it I need to be on a medicine that starts with an F.

I told him I have a medicine he can take with that same letter"

So she's hanging in there and maintaining her sense of humor!!

I forgot yesterday was MOnday - Holiday for me!
So I'm down .4 again this week. I guess it's better than nothing!!

Gelly - Congratulations on your little princess!!! princess:

When I go for a weekend - I have a really hard time! I have one coming up in Feb - a scrapbooking weekend, where we are all sharing cooking duties. So a lot of the food choices will be out of my control. I will bring a healthy snack and lots of water, but I do tend to have a few more cocktails than normal. I'll just have to try to avoid desserts and watch the portions.
It's probably easier if you're eating out, you can choose the restaurant and look for healthy options.

Recipe time!

My brother sent me this recipe the other day and I tried it last night. It was so good even my "fussy eater" enjoyed it. I plugged it all into WW and it came out to a surprising 6 points per serving (makes easily enough for 8 servings).

Chicken Risotto

2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
3 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 onion, finely chopped (I thought this was a bit much and will use less next time)
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups uncooked regular long grain rice
4 to 6 cups chicken broth (fat free reduced sodium)
1 tsp dried basil leaves (I'll use more next time, maybe 1 1/2 tsp)
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp light butter

Cut chicken breasts into 1-1/2" pieces and sprinkle with salt and pepper. In heavy saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and cook for 5 minutes until tender. Add chicken pieces and cook and stir until chicken begins to brown, about 3 minutes. Add rice and stir to coat.

Add 1 cup chicken broth and cook until liquid is reduced, stirring frequently. Continue to add chicken broth to keep rice covered, stirring frequently. Add broth, stir and cook for a total of about 25 mintues until rice is tender. Add basil, cheese and butter just before serving and stir to melt.

Cover pot and let stand 5 minutes off the heat.

You can use as little as 4 cups or as much as 6 cups of broth in this recipe, depending on how soupy you like your risotto.

UGH!!

Everything fell apart YET AGAIN last night where a ton of after dinner snacking went on.

To be fair, besides ONE chocolate bar...I had diet items so it wasn't a train wreck or anything but this binge eating needs to stop! Part of it is because TOM is imminent but still...

Anyway, this morning I woke up and decided to go back and reread my journal to see just how many entries began with..."I fell off the wagon again last night" or something similar and I made a startling discovery.

My derailment coincides with the change to the PointsPlus Plan. Though I didn't have a gain every week thanks to flex points and exercise points...the binge eating before this point in time only happened at TOM times.

So, I decided to go back to the old Points plan!!

And, I felt really guilty about it first thing this morning while I was considering it. :confused3 Like I was cheating or a quitter or something.

DH said I should go with what works and if I really hate the new plan (I SO HATE IT...the only thing I like about the plan is that fruit is free) that it's not quitting to go back to what I was doing before.

So, after stressing about it for a while...I decided to give it a go!

This means I have to track everything in Excel and/or on paper (thankfully I have the literature here at home from before) but it's just so much simpler and easier for me that I already feel freer and it's only been like 4 hours! :lmao:

I did try really hard to adjust to PointsPlus but it's just not for me. There's no way to estimate AT ALL which really bothers me and I just really  the Points program and hated to give it up. Even though I got more points on the new system, I felt like I suddenly couldn't eat my favourite foods. I felt like they cost too much all of a sudden and I just couldn't keep from feeling like I was sacrificing EVERYTHING I love to conform to the new program.

And so, the weight loss process was no longer easy, no longer a pleasure...it was now a chore and a real DIET!! So, I decided not to bother with it anymore!

I lost 55 pounds on the old plan and I can (AND WILL) lose the rest on it too!

So, I should be able to go back to my happy, positive, always-on-here-bugging-the-crap-out-of-you-guys self!! :thumbsup2

Hope you guys can take it!!
