I am okay with either weigh in as well....and maybe Heather we can help one another doing it - some times I just can't and there may be times you cannot as well! I loved the fact you offered!!!

I did curves about 9 years ago until I became pregnant with my youngest. I quit going when my belly was too big!
I thought it was ok - the thing I liked the best about it was that I would go over my lunch hour and get it done then. They had a small dressing room area where you could change clothes. Then you could get the routine done in 40 minutes or so, do the cool down and change back into your work clothes. The bad thing about it is that I'm not sure how much good it does. I honestly never worked up a sweat - but at least it gets you moving.
Another good thing about it was that the same people tended to be there every day, so if you missed a day (or two), someone would ask about you. It was kind of another way to hold yourself accountable.
After our son was born, we (DH and I) decided to join the local gym. It really wasn't a lot more for a family membership there than what I was paying for Curves. I feel that we got a lot more bang for our buck there, because we could do all the cardio equipment, weight training, aerobic classes and use the pool as much as we wanted. But, I know that's not always an option for everyone.
Of course you can join us! The part I bolded above really struck a nerve with me. I was wondering the same thing over Christmas - I took a few days to pack on 3 pounds, yet it'll probably take me another month to get it back off. It's just not fair! I've heard of Curves but haven't tried them. Most of the ones around here closed up quite a while ago and I didn't even know they were still around.
Ok - scanned the past 5 pages and it brought me back to November so I am feeling better and worse!!!
Heather - if you want to take over weight posts....THAT IS Awesome!!!!(Seriously....pm me and I can send you the originals for everyone still wanting to post so you have their starting for full credit!!!)
Did we pick a day to send in weights???
It was nice to see you guys noticed I was AWOL...I think I need that cone of shame right about now!
I will still send out a come on back reminder to everyone...we can all use the boost!
I am actually feeling excited to be back and looking forward to all the success for each of us. What I will do is revamp the first post with names and the weight pics and post a link here over the weekend when I hear back from who wants to re-join or any new blood we get!!!
It was awesome reading so many new posts from alumni...I feel blessed this is a place so many still feel the need to turn back to when they are ready. Each of you here is such a gift.![]()
I'm excited to see everyone jumping back on board the raft.Let's get this thread moving and start paddling our way to skinny island!!!
I made 2 of my goals yesterday - I got my water in and I got to the gym. While on the treadmill, I set a reward system for myself for the next month and a half. If I get to the gym an average of 3 times a week until my Disney trip - I get a charm for my bracelet. If I get there an average of 4 times a week - I get another charm. If I can get up to 2 miles in a half hour - charm. And the reaching goal - If I can get up to 2.5 miles in a half hour - yet another charm. I set the "average" of 3 and 4 times a week because I know there will be some weeks I will go more often and some weeks I will go less. So, if I just count up the number of workouts I need and make a chart and cross them off as I do them, I'll get there. I'm really pushing myself so I can get 4 new charms while I am down in Disney.
I also need to find some new recipe inspiration. I'm tired of eating the same old thing. The problem is that I'm not very adventurous in my eating so I get stuck in a rut. However, I got a new grill/griddle pan for Christmas so maybe I can start thinking of some new ways to do chicken and lean meats.
Ok guys. Let's keep this thread going and get our butts to skinny island!!!
So, I got on the scale this morning for a quick check in and it said I had gained 7 pounds this week!WHAT?????? Needless to say, I was not happy and threatened to throw the scale against the wall. I took a moment to breathe and remind myself that A) I probably didn't really gain 7 pounds in 4 days and B) this is a marathon, not a sprint. I will fail at points along this journey. Deep breath, deep breath.
Ok, that's my morning rant/wisdom. I now have to go do about 14 interviews today looking for 1 or 2 assistants for the summer. Wish me luck!
Dawn's back!!!! This week I made chicken and dumplings and the point count wasn't too bad and the family really liked it (something that doesn't always happen), so that will go on the do-over list.
I'd love the chicken and dumpling receipe too. Idumplings. In my family, it is a tradition to have a roast and dumplings. I don't think it's very point friendly so I don't get it often.
We should maybe start sharing some recipes here. I just finished off a pot of chicken rice soup that I think was pretty good point/calorie wise. Probably had more sodium than it should though which could be a reason for the 7 pound gain. We'll see. I'm really motivated to get to the gym tonight though. Between the extra pounds and the thought of a charm - the treadmill is SCREAMING my name.
BOO-YA!!!
This week I'm DOWN 3.2.
BABY!
Sheree, you went ouside when it was 10 degrees? On PURPOSE?It's been raining and cold all day today and all I want to do is to snuggle under a blanket and watch football. But I have to go lead a Scout meeting.
