When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

about 1800 calories and am signed up for sparkteens and am on weight watchers
Great job!!! What is your favorite fruit or veggie? :confused3

Fabulousness in a BOX!
I am totally steeling that line when I get a pair of those shoes!!

Yup. Found out about the hidden cal bombs at Chipotle in the first Eat This, Not That book I bought. Holy craploadofcals in a Burrito Batman.
I was proud I looked first before I ordered!!

Dawn - can't wait to hear about the pic sessions!
I have to admit I had to turn away cause I cried a few times. She had 4 outfits inside and 3 outside. We were at the Mississippi River river for some and she was just stunning. When the pics come up I will post a few here for you guys!
Loved the story about Kenny. Burn Camp sounds like such an inspirational place!!! Love hearing all the stories!

It is an amazing place with amazing people and any time you want to boo frickin hoo over your life, let me tell you, those kids are a reminder of what courage is and what not to complain about in your day.

We picked up Honey Bee yesterday. She's a 12 wk old short hair chihuahua... a little fuzzy and her dad was a long hair so she may end up being a medium coat. Can't wait to see! Our dog that ran away a few years ago was Lily Belle BTW..

Any suggestions for quick fixes (real meals, not snacks)??
I say keep making chicken and having it ready and do chicken salad, chicken tacos, chicken lasagna, BBQ chicken, chicken fajitas...I will post a few solid recipes this weekend for you.

I think I am dying.

Like fell of the wagon and it ran me over dying.:sick:
Oh honey! That is God hitting you with a shovel. Dontcha know?

When God wants you to learn a lesson, he taps you on the shoulder. Which he did and you listened and have done so well with WW and all. :thumbsup2

Then if you do not listen and he gets sick of telling you over and over, he hits you with the shovel to make sure you got it. :lmao: :rotfl:

My pastor told me that once and I told her to make sure next time to warn me so I could duck!!! :lmao:

Randy and I got a little overzealous with the treats last night I have some non Dis friendly treats that are 0 calories and a the next day do not have you running to the Cr@pper. Fuzzy handcuffs are totally fat free! :rotfl::rotfl2: I am killing myself tonight folks!

To top off my good day and Carsyn's, she got a JOB at a local daycare center and starts tomorrow!!! Just for training and then officially the end of August when she gets back from her 2 week counselor stint back in Ely at the same camp we go to for Burn Camp.

Baylor also leaves on Monday for his Colorado kids only burn camp. So I will be sans kids for a week and only down to one for 2 weeks!!

The bad news, Dan is gone almost solid from now through the end of September...

Old Raul is also nowhere to be found!;)

Since I don't have a pool I highly doubt he would be interested in feeding me grapes under a sprinkler!:rotfl2:

Evening all!

Dawn- Very cool story about Kenny making walking sticks. When we went on Piper's wish trip, it was very eye opening seeing all the kids there that are walking a similar path to hers, or worse. One thing her CF has done is to make me appreciate every day, even if it's a stinky one! There's a saying that goes through the CF community.. "Every breath is a gift". Just seeing her accomplish what she does, knowing her lung function is so crappy ..bleh..getting all emotional now, LOL..anyway.. it makes a person realize if she can do it, anyone can do anything they put their mind to!
Also..very cool that Carsyn was able to find a job! What are you going to do with your week of freedom? LOL @ the sprinkler comment..I don't even have a hose spigot, so I guess Raul would have to use a super soaker.. although..filled with margarita that may not be an entirely bad thing!! :lmao:

Julie- Awesome shoes and clothes! I want to see pics of you IN the clothes! And wow @ all the recipes!

Aimeeeeeeee- Welcome back!! I missed your turquoise-fonted self! Ya'll are making me want a puppy soooo bad!!!

Megan- Good for you getting on top of this now, and doing it the healthy way! I wish I had done this a long time ago. :goodvibes

Dana- (joyful..I think it's Dana..but I haven't printed out the updated list yet!!) I would say your lunch sounded yummy..but I don't do black beans or avocado! :rotfl: I don't know what it is about beans, but the only way I can eat them is in chili!

Okay, I'll post my tracking and exercise for yesterday and today here in a sec. Good day here today, went to the Dr..she looked over the mole very carefully and said.. "It looks fine, but I know why you think it looks different." I look at her in a "huh" way..and she goes on "you've lost weight in your arms and there's no fat surrounding it so it does look bigger..when you press on it you're hitting the bone and that's why you think it's tender." Can I just say how much like a complete idiot I felt like when she said that??? It never even occured to me, but made perfect sense. Sheesh! On the other hand, I wasn't crazy about my ears bothering me, she told me my sinuses were a mess and to start taking loratadine. My blood pressure was 106/64..it's never been high, but that's about 15 down from what it used to be all the time on both sides! It was somewhat satisfying to see the RN's jaw drop when she read the number ;) Goodness forbid a fat chic have healthy numbers! Funny story about lunch..I've been seeing the ads for the Hardee's hand breaded chix tenders and drooling over them for a couple months..had a dollar off coupon and figured I'd finally go for it! They were not drool worthy..not even dribble worthy! And definitely not worth the 300 cals and 12 fat grams! Grr..I hate it when that happens! LOL!

I'm getting my haircut again tomorrow, I got it done super short (1.5 in all over the top, #2 guard in back) about six weeks ago, but it's grown so fast that this time I'm going shorter..think Demi Moore in GI Jane! I've never been one to particularly care what it looks like, and with all the walking I've been doing, it feels good to have it short and not have sweat running down into my eyes all the time! After that I'll go pick up another batch of envelopes.

Tracking-

August 12th Done!

I've been doing really well on my water intake the past few days. Not half of my weight by any means, but it's a lot to me! Of course now that I say that I'll probably have a couple low days to make up for it. :rotfl:

I posted a pic of my tasty veggieburger w/ fixins lunch from yesterday on my journal if anyone is interested. I'm seriously thinking of taking pictures of my food and posting them there like folks do in TR's...for no particular reason other than it would amuse me.

Megan – thanks for the picture, it sure makes it easier for me to connect a name/DIS name with a face. Congratulations for realizing that now is the time to work on your weight and get it under control. Weight loss is hard and it only gets harder the older you get. I didn’t realize the SparkPeople had a site for teens. What a fantastic idea!

Aimee – Can’t wait to see the pictures of the new puppy. I think 10lbs in 10 weeks is a very accomplishable goal.

Susan – I haven’t calculated the calories on this yet, but a really quick meal that we made last week was sandwich thin pizzas. We toasted the thins, spread on a little spaghetti sauce (cause that’s what we had in the house) sprinkled a little low fat mozzarella cheese and then topped with olives (but you could do chicken, or veggies). Then popped back in the toaster over (but you could do the microwave) to melt the cheese. Took about 5 minutes and everyone could make their pizzas exactly how they wanted it. The sandwich thins are only 100 cals so depending on what you topped the pizza with it could be pretty low cal. Add a salad and you are good to go. I’ll try and think of some more when I have more brain cells working.

Julie – I’m SO sorry you aren’t feeling well. I’m not trying to be a doctor or anything, but if you had excruciating pain and the food was coming out one or both exits you might want to get checked to see if you might have gallstones. Google gallbladder attacks and see if the symptoms match). My first attach happened after I had gone overboard on fatty foods after having been really good with my diet. The pain was as close to labor pain (without the benefit of getting a wonderful baby afterwards). I can tell you the low fat diet I was on while waiting for my gallbladder to be removed was the ONLY diet that I never cheated on. The possibility of giving myself an attach was not something that I wanted to repeat.

Thanks for the recipes! I’m going to add those to my collection – they sound yummo!

Dawn – Congratulations to Dawn for landing a job. Tell her to start taking her vitamins now. Those cute little kids are loaded with germs. I was constantly sick when I worked at a daycare. Had a ball, but dang couldn’t shake the runny nose crud. What will you do with yourself when you only have one kid in the house?(if its anything like when I only have one around, I rarely see him). Too bad Dan will be traveling. At least you won’t have to worry about cooking for the masses.

Amanda – Fantastic news about your visit to the doctors. I’ve never had high blood pressure (even at my highest weight) I think I always shocked the nurses when they took it. Great news about the mole as well. I just had a spot frozen off my back (dr. said it was a pre-skin cancer looking patch) I’m pretty freaky about checking my moles and wanting them removed if they look weird or are painful. I have a friend who had a mole on her leg that she didn’t like the look of and she insisted the dr. remove it (she was 27 at the time) after a LOT of discussion the dr. finally agreed (her uncle had just passed away due to skin cancer metastasizing to his brain). Shock of all shocks the mole was cancerous. If she hadn’t insisted goodness who knows when she would have caught it?
Dawn & Amanda – I can totally relate to your stories about learning how to deal with things from kids with issues. I don’t remember if I mentioned on this thread that my son has Asperger’s Syndrome (it’s a high functioning form of Autism). He goes to a school program for Adults with Disabilities (anything from Asperger’s to Down Syndrome to CP, etc). I am always amazed at how happy the students are just to be exactly who they are and not a single one of them need to put someone down so they can feel good about themselves. I wish the rest of the world could follow their example.

Thankfully today was my Friday. It was a hectic day at work and I had my mid-year review. I was not looking forward to that because I feel pretty crappy about the quality of my work and my motivation level lately. I tried to be honest with my manager to let her know that the “blue sky” types of projects that she’s been giving me are not my strong suit, her response (once again) was that I needed to stretch and work on gaining those skills (yeah, and I’m just going to pick-up speaking Swahili by working on that without any training). Oh well, I’m just going to try and focus on the things that I do well and try and do my best on the other stuff and if she doesn’t like the stuff I produce I’ll have to think about looking at other jobs in the company and see if I can transfer to another group. I’d really like to stay with the same company (now that I have 7 years in) but there really isn’t a lot of opportunity for movement. I tried to do well food wise today. At least I was too busy to munch my afternoon away.

Tomorrow Jim and I are going up north to “camp” we’ll be staying at a KOA campground in one of their cabins. We are hoping to see lots of shooting stars with the meteor showers, then on Sunday Brendan and Charlotte are coming up and we are canoeing down the river. I’ll try and take some pictures. The campground is supposed to have wifi but I’m only taking my iPod so I’ll see if I can check in from there.

Food Log
Breakfast – yogurt with blueberries
Lunch – subway turkey sandwich with baked lays
Snack – dove ice cream bar (only 250 cals and I NEEDED the chocolate after the review)
Dinner – raspberries & PB&J on sandwich thin
Dessert – skinny cow

August 12 DONE – to tired to log it into SparkPeople to know exactly how many calories. Will do it tomorrow.

Good Night!

It might not sound good in the hot summer - but I like to make a big batch of chili or soup and eat the leftovers during the week. You could do something like that and freeze or refrigerate portions for later. kind of a make your own frozen dinners! That way you control the amount of salt too.
That's what I was looking for, a way to make my own quick but healthy meals. So, you've frozen soups?? Do you have to do anything special or do you just put it in tupperware and toss in the freezer? I've never tried that before. Thanks for the help.By saying you can't throw in a frozen dinner is that because you don't have a microwave available? If so, then you can disregard what I just said!
Oops, no, we have a microwave. It's just that I have yet to find any of those lean cuisine type frozen dinners that have lower sodium.

I think I am dying.
Like fell of the wagon and it ran me over dying.:sick:
Randy and I got a little overzealous with the treats last night and it was sort of like mixing your alcohol (which I've never done but have been a witness to the aftermath on someone else and am reasonably sure that is the same feeling.) Honestly, I have no idea what happened (no real reason behind it) but it was all rejected (repeatedly) through the night. :scared1: I guess after three months of healthy eating, even my body can't handle an overload of cr@p. I've done this. Back when I was in college I did NO red meat for several years. (Various reasons) The first time I had a hamburger after that, I was in misery!!!! Awful. I hope it passes soon.
Needless to say, it's been water only so far today. And I MUST be on the mend tomorrow because I have a hot date and dashing off to the bathroom every few minutes is totally going to ruin the romance. Have a great time, I'm so jealous!

More recipes for Bree and whomever else is interested. Please let me know if you notice any mistakes...I never proof read or double checked as I copied it all out so there is a chance I've made a mistake here and there and not caught it.
Some of these look really good. I might have to try one out this weekend.

I start monday:sad1:
Well, I hope it goes well and you get "all the good teachers." My daughter has decided she got lucky this year and got all the nice ones. So she is happy right now. I'm sure that will change when the real homework starts.

Here are a couple of the pics I promised from Malachi's Black Belt graduation on Tuesday. He's thinks he's such a Billy Bad Butt (little does he know that Mom can still whoop him:laughing:)
QUOTE] That's awesome. How long has he been taking lessons??

Baylor also leaves on Monday for his Colorado kids only burn camp. So I will be sans kids for a week and only down to one for 2 weeks!! Wow, every mom's nightmare. I hunted around the board and finally found his story in your TR cast. Thank God he had the presence of mind to help himself. What a strong kid.
The bad news, Dan is gone almost solid from now through the end of September...Old Raul is also nowhere to be found!;)Since I don't have a pool I highly doubt he would be interested in feeding me grapes under a sprinkler!:rotfl2:

I'm getting my haircut again tomorrow, I got it done super short (1.5 in all over the top, #2 guard in back) about six weeks ago, but it's grown so fast that this time I'm going shorter..think Demi Moore in GI Jane! So, mine is about shoulder length and I throw it up in a clip most days. Wish I wasn't so lazy, I think I'd like a short hairstyle.
Okay, I have to ask, since I couldn't find it backtracking: What's up with the envelopes???

Hey guys...I've been dunked in a vat of homework tonight...so quick update. I'll promise I'll get to everyone over the weekend. Wow, that didn't take long. Your school is jumping in feet first. 8/12/10

Breakfast: cream of wheat, grapefruit, coffee. 6pts. (Seeing a trend here)
Lunch: steak and potato soup, s-f jello. 5pts.
Snack: granola, ff milk. 6pts.
Dinner: turkey dog wrap w/ ff cheese, broccoli. 6pts.
Snack: popcorn. 2pts.
Total: 26 pts.
Okay, a question for the WW point counters who use SparkPeople. I tried this out yesterday, input all my foods, and it shows me as being way low on calories... Like 500??? Does this matter? I'm sure I've got my points right. Just doesn't seem to make sense because I USE the calorie counts to figure my points, so I would think I'd be right on track with SparkPeople???

Water: 72 oz. I'm getting better at this. BUT, I put those sf crystal lite flavors in most of my water yesterday, and this morning I have a major headache. I wonder if it relates? Anyone had a bad experience with these? It feels like the caffeine headaches I get whenever I'm trying to cut back on the caffeine. Strange.

Excercise: 3 miles, give or take. We've opted to walk our local bike n hike trails and it's hard to judge the distance. I have to drag out the trail map I used to use to guesstimate the distance. Can't use the internet tools others mentioned since it's not real roads, just winding trails, criss crossing through a large wooded area. :confused3

Susan- ( I hope I have it right..after I finish this I'm printing a new cheat sheet!) I do sub-contract work for a couple of local mail marketing companies, hand addressing envelopes in cursive writing. Usually for places like St Jude's, and medical screening companies. I generally pick up 1000 at a time, and have a week to complete them. I like them, because I can do them anywhere, the only hitch is there's very little regularity to it. This month I've had two jobs, last month I had none. But..it's extra cash coming in!

Morning everybody! Just a quick "drive-by" I've had to hit the ground running this morning.

1st - Thank you Julie for posting all those yummy looking recipes! You're so sweet to have taken the time to do that. I can't wait to try them, & from the looks of it, I'm not alone. (hope your date night was fun & you felt better)

brkfst - yogurt, coffee w/creamer (seems to be the standard for me)
snack - 1/2 cup blueberries (will be so sad when summer is over)
lunch - turkey sammie on arnold thin (found goat cheese sandwich slices @ trader joes & tried half a slice on my sammie, pretty good), lima beans
snack - special K fruit crisp, handful of whole grain goldfish
dinner - ceasar salad w/grilled chicken (used lowfat dressing)
snack - 1/4 cup of choccy covered raisins

Tried to run 3 miles yesterday evening. Problem was that it was still 90 degrees at 7pm! Only managed to run about a mile & a half and had to walk the rest. Plus to this is that I got to spend some time with one of my best girlfriends who rode her bike along side me.

Ok, that's all I have time for now, will come back to read & respond to everyone's posts this afternoon.

~b~

Good morning everyone!

Yup, its my day off and I wake up at 5:30!!:confused3 I tried to get back to sleep but after 45 minutes I gave up. Guess I'll start the long weekend bright and early!

I input my food from yesterday and my totals were really good. Total 1200 (goal is 1200 - 1550) the only area that I didn't fall within my range was for protein. I was 18 grams off. Today I'll work on adding protein.

I tried to find that diet that my Dr. recommended at the used book store (no luck). I did find "The YOU Diet" by Dr. Oz. In skimming it looked quite interesting. It gives a 14 day meal plan to start you off. I bought it (only $7) hopefully it will give me some good options. If we drive by a bookstore I'll continue to look for the actual diet that she recommended.

Jim has his physical today and then we are off! We really don't have any specific plans till Sunday so hopefully it will be relaxing.

We aren't going to be taking any food to cook while we are out this weekend (we don't want to take our entire camp kitchen - this is supposed to be an easy trip) so I'll try to order wisely.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Have fun camping Jane!!

I'm here, I'm alive...I've fully recovered from the shovel smack :lmao: and can go out on my date tonight fearlessly. Thanks for all the love and sympathy friends!!

Thankfully it wasn't gall stones or anything like that...just plain nausea and indigestion but since I haven't suffered much from it (including during pregnancy) I'm just not prepared for it when it comes.
(In other words, I'm an over dramatic suck!!):rotfl:

I had soup and toast for dinner last night and have been fine ever since. Today I had an apple and a yogurt for breakfast and that seems to be okay so far too. I'm actually starting to get hungry, so that's a good sign.

I'll be off and running a lot this weekend (gotta get to the specialty store for some of those zero point treats Dawn was hinting at :rotfl2:) being out of town again a bit (thank goodness the summer is winding down) so I thought I'd do one more recipe installment for this week.

So, without further ado...

Was it Susan asking for quick meal ideas?? Here are some wraps that can be made ahead and thrown together in no time!!

If covered the fillings will keep in the fridge for:

Salmon salad--3 days
Tomato Hummus--7 days
Turkey enchilada--4 days

Concerned that things will get boring? Not a chance—we’ve got plenty of ideas to spice, fill and season wraps so you’ll have lunches rich with variety and taste. Gentleman, start your chopping…so that you may have a healthy lunch on the run. Just remember, the POINTS® values apply only to the fillings.

Salmon Salad Wrap Filling

Makes 4 servings POINTS® value | 3 per ½ Cup Serving
Nothing’s easier—or tastier—than this quick salmon salad filling. And it's not just limited to wraps. You can eat it in lettuce leaves or large, hollowed-out tomatoes. Want it spicier? Give the mix several dashes of hot red pepper sauce.

Ingredients
1 1/3 cup canned salmon, drained
1/4 cup fat-free mayonnaise
1/4 cup dill pickle, chopped
1/4 cup celery, chopped
1/4 cup red onion, chopped
1 1/2 tsp lemon-pepper seasoning

Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a medium bowl.

Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus
Makes 6 servings POINTS® value | 2 per 1/3 Cup Serving

Hummus is a Middle Eastern spread made from ground chickpeas—but once you beef it up with lots of flavours and textures, it’s great in a wrap for an on-the-go lunch. Or try it on its own as a dip for cut-up vegetables or even as a topping on a baked potato.

Ingredients
1 oz sun-dried tomatoes (do not use those canned in oil)
1 3/4 cups canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed (one 15 1/2-ounce can)
3 Tbsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp tahini
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions
Bring a tea kettle of water to a boil over high heat. Place the sundried
tomatoes in a medium bowl; cover with boiling water to a depth of 1 inch. Set aside to soak for 10 minutes.

Drain tomatoes, reserving 3 tablespoons of the soaking liquid.

Place the soaked tomatoes, chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, onion powder, salt and pepper in a large food processor fitted with the chopping blade. Process until smooth, scraping down the inside of the canister as necessary.

Turkey Enchilada Wrap Filling

Makes 4 servings POINTS® value | 2 per 1 Cup Serving
There’s not much work here—other than making the wrap for lunch before you’re out the door for work in the morning. This filling also makes a great topper for nachos on game day.

Ingredients
8 ounces cooked deli turkey meat, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
1/2 cup green bell pepper, seeded and diced
1/4 cup red onion, chopped
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
1 tsp ground cumin

Instructions
Stir all the ingredients in a large bowl.

To make a wrap:
Lay a medium, fat-free, whole wheat tortilla flat (a POINTS value of 1) on your work surface. Place the filling in a line down the centre of the tortilla. Roll the wrap closed and keep refrigerated until you’re ready to eat.

I did ok foodwise yesterday, but I went a little over on my calorie goal 'cause I had french fries for lunch:scared1: (1200-1550)

Thursday, August 12th
Bfast: Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich (444)
Lunch: Wendy's Grilled Chicken Sandwich & Small Fries (610)
Dinner: Homemade Wrap w/ 2 small Eggs, Tomato, Mushrooms, Cheese & Ham in a tortilla and 1 c. macaroni noodles w/ Newman's Own Light Honey Mustard (585)

AUGUST 12TH DONE

I never realized how much I rely on my scale as a weight loss motivator, slap in the face etc until it broke!

:scared1::sad2::guilty::sad1:

It's stuck on KG! and for some reason, I feel fatter! LOL even though the number is much prettier to look at, the conversion is a killer. You think in your "Oh it's about double that number, and then when you add on the .23452523453452345 ( ok that's not exact that's just me typing a bunch of numbers but y'all get the drift ) ... well it multiplies quick. I may have to get a new scale and start all over in the weighing in business because you know one scale never matches another one. It's gonna be skewed one way or the other. *SIGH*

Am still thinking about what I'm gonna do.

Feel like a fish out of water!

Poor Aimee!!

It might not be too bad though...I switched just a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't a big difference...you never know, you might get lucky and have it tell you that you weigh LESS that your broken scale. :cheer2:

That would be worth it to me!!

We just walked up to the bank (1.5 miles round trip) as a family and I had to offer a stop at Tim Horton's for a doughnut to the kids as incentive. Small moves, I guess. I had to get cash out for the sitter and the movies.

Exciting news!! :cheer2:As mentioned on part One of skinny island, I have been purchasing items in smaller sizes for two years now and there is a size 16 area in my closet that I have been getting tantalizingly close to being able to move to the "currently fits me" area. For kicks, I tried on a pair of size 16 dress pants from Reitmans when searching for something to wear on my date tonight...AND THEY FIT!!! :woohoo:And they don't muffin top me at all!! :thumbsup2

So, after lunch I am going straight upstairs to try on EVERYTHING in my size 16 section to get the lay of the land and anything that fits is going straight into the "good" part of my closet. If I can cajole Randy or DD to take pics of me, I'll post anything wearable. And, OF COURSE the hot date outfit...whatever I finally settle on.

If covered the fillings will keep in the fridge for:

Salmon salad--3 days

Glad you're feeling better!! Thanks for all the recipes too. Especially the Sangria! (do I sound like a lush?)
I make hummus pretty regularly - alhtough I'm the only one in the house that will eat it! It's great as a dip with veggies or pita bread/chips. I should use it in a wrap more often.

I need a cheat sheet of names too. I forget who was asking about soups. I have frozen some - there are some that don't freeze as well as others though. I'd do a search and check. I want to say that milk based don't freeze that well, but I've frozen a creamy potato one. Chili is great to freeze. I just stick it in a container (try to fill it up most of the way) and put it in the freezer. You could do it in a heavy ziploc too.

HI all! I am getting ready for a crazy weekend.

Carsyn leaves on Sunday for 2 weeks, Baylor comes home Sunday for 1/2 a day and then gone Monday for a week.

My b-day is on the 23rd and he gets back at noon that day. :cool1: I can spend some time with him since the rest of the gang will be AWOL.

I am summer cleaning since it did not happen in Spring and the heat finally dissipated here. Remember...no airconditioning all summer!!

We are out of the woods I think but last night Dan offered to get a hotel room.

Why oh why did I decide to see what I am made of this summer of all summers when it is the hottest summer on record? You learn a lot of tricks that they must have used in the old days and honestly, only a few nights were awful.

Anyway, cleaned out the kitchen drawers and cupboards and sanitized everything inside and out. Feels great! Then I made a huge pan of lasagna. Used ground turkey, diced tomatoes, 4% cottage cheese, mozarella, eggs, loads of garden goodies I picked this morning like basil, rosemary etc.... and it is 9 pts per piece. (12 servings) Truthfully, I rather have homemade lasagna with less sodium for a few more pts than a frozen cr@ptastic WW one. It is full to the top of the pan and bubbling away as we speak.

I had cantaloupe and strawberries so far today so I saved my points to enjoy this and corn on the cob.

NO BREAD though!

Last night I made chicken sausage with jalapenos/montery-jack cheese I had found at Walmart that was only 3 pts and much bigger than a wimpy hot dog. Ate that with no bun and green beans and we did not miss the bun. Breaking old habits and wasted calories. Not like the bun ever had flavor - it is just a convenient carrying tool!

I think I am dying.

Like fell of the wagon and it ran me over dying.

Something similar to this happens to me after I've eaten really healthy for a while and then suddenly introduce junk into my system again. BLECH!
Sorry your body hates you!

To top off my good day and Carsyn's, she got a JOB at a local daycare center and starts tomorrow!!!

Sounds like a perfect fit for her!

Sorry that Dan and Raul are MIA!

Since I don't have a pool I highly doubt he would be interested in feeding me grapes under a sprinkler!

:lmao: :lmao: Ya never know. It's probably slim pickings for pool boys in Minnie soda!

Evening all!

There's a saying that goes through the CF community.. "Every breath is a gift".

Soooo true!!! We all should view it that way!

I had a dear friend in high school that had CF. I wish he had taken that saying to heart. He had a death wish.... died at 17 in a car accident. Reckless and drunk driving. Breaks my heart to this day.

Aimeeeeeeee- Welcome back!! I missed your turquoise-fonted self! Ya'll are making me want a puppy soooo bad!!!

Thank you!!! I missed my turquoise-fonted self too! hehe

Sorry for passing along the puppy itch! You might want to avoid the pics at the end of the post.... :rolleyes1 may overload you on the puppy cuteness factor and send you rushing out for one! :rotfl:

Good day here today, went to the Dr..she looked over the mole very carefully and said.. "It looks fine, but I know why you think it looks different." I look at her in a "huh" way..and she goes on "you've lost weight in your arms and there's no fat surrounding it so it does look bigger..when you press on it you're hitting the bone and that's why you think it's tender." Can I just say how much like a complete idiot I felt like when she said that??? It never even occured to me, but made perfect sense. Sheesh!

Totally know how you feel!! Hate when things that seem so obvious don't occur to me! Glad that it was nothing to worry about and that there was a simple explanation!

:rotfl2: I love when that happens!! They kept expecting me to have pre-eclampsia when I was pregnant and it was like it ticked them off when my numbers stayed normal the whole time.

Awesome job on the super great bp numbers! It's about so much more than the number on the scale isn't it?! Gotta keep reminding myself of that.

LOL!

Hey at least it tasted yucky!! Now you won't want it again!

I'm about to get mine whacked off. I had let it grow out to put it up in a ponytail for vacation and now it's time to cut it and layer it!! Maybe next week!! :yay:

I think I need to find an envelope job. Sounds right up my alley for right now!

I've been doing really well on my water intake the past few days. Not half of my weight by any means, but it's a lot to me! Of course now that I say that I'll probably have a couple low days to make up for it. :rotfl:

Way to go on the water intake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I posted a pic of my tasty veggieburger w/ fixins lunch from yesterday on my journal if anyone is interested.

Heading over to your journal next!

I'm seriously thinking of taking pictures of my food and posting them there like folks do in TR's...for no particular reason other than it would amuse me.

I love it!! I think I may have to steal that idea on some food items! Too funny. I'd love to see pics of people's yummy food ideas along with our tracking.

Of the fun yummy healthy stuff... .maybe not a bowl of Froot Loops or a Lean Cuisine.

:lmao:

Aimee – Can’t wait to see the pictures of the new puppy. I think 10lbs in 10 weeks is a very accomplishable goal.

I think it is too!! So ready to get back into a routine. Feel like I'm kinda in limbo. Gotta make it happen though. Can't wait for it to happen to me.

Fabulous idea!! Will have to try that !!

Thank goodness she had it checked out!!! It definitely pays to be careful!

I wish the rest of the world could follow their example.

AMEN!

Have a fabulous time!! Can't wait to see the pictures!!

When I first started Skinny Island I was on WW, and then I started using sparkpeople and then Live Strong's Daily Plate and was double tracking for a while. I was hitting my points (30/day) but when I'd track over in Daily Plate I'd only be at like 1000 cals for the day. The fat/fiber/cal formula WW uses can really skew the points higher if there's a fair amount of fat in the food. That's why my cals came out so low, I was eating way too much fat.

This may be what's going on with you!! It really was an eye opening experience for me to track on both.

Way to go on the exercise and water intake!!

Yup, its my day off and I wake up at 5:30!!:confused3 I tried to get back to sleep but after 45 minutes I gave up. Guess I'll start the long weekend bright and early!

Did the same thing on our first morning of vakay when we were supposed to be sleeping in. Stinks!

I input my food from yesterday and my totals were really good. Total 1200 (goal is 1200 - 1550) the only area that I didn't fall within my range was for protein. I was 18 grams off. Today I'll work on adding protein.

I never get enough protein it seems like!! Then when I try to add more, Daily Plate says I've had too much. WTHeck?!

I tried to find that diet that my Dr. recommended at the used book store (no luck). I did find "The YOU Diet" by Dr. Oz. In skimming it looked quite interesting. It gives a 14 day meal plan to start you off.

Love Dr. Oz's You on a Diet. It explains the medical reasons behind a lot of things related to overweight/obesity and then gives you the diet. The book is very informational. I never tried the diet part, though.

We aren't going to be taking any food to cook while we are out this weekend (we don't want to take our entire camp kitchen - this is supposed to be an easy trip) so I'll try to order wisely.

Good luck ordering wisely!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

You too!!!

Poor Aimee!!

It might not be too bad though...I switched just a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't a big difference...you never know, you might get lucky and have it tell you that you weigh LESS that your broken scale. :cheer2:

That would be worth it to me!!

Yeah... except my scale was always less than any other scale I've weighed on. :lmao: So it's gonna sting to adjust to a new one. Especially considering vacation weight gain. I may have to turn in my coconut. :sad2:

Exciting news!! :cheer2:As mentioned on part One of skinny island, I have been purchasing items in smaller sizes for two years now and there is a size 16 area in my closet that I have been getting tantalizingly close to being able to move to the "currently fits me" area. For kicks, I tried on a pair of size 16 dress pants from Reitmans when searching for something to wear on my date tonight...AND THEY FIT!!! :woohoo:And they don't muffin top me at all!! :thumbsup2

That's soooooooooooooooo awesome!! I don't have 16s to get back into! 18s were my get back into pants. I can't wait to BUY a pair of 16s!!!!!!!

:rotfl: @ no muffin top. That's a majorly important detail. I hate my muffin top!!! But because of the way I'm shaped, if I wear pants that don't give me one, I look like I poo'd my pants because of how saggy the butt in my pants looks. Muffin top or poo'd pants? The decisions I have to make for fashion and vanity, I tell ya.

:rotfl2:

So, after lunch I am going straight upstairs to try on EVERYTHING in my size 16 section to get the lay of the land and anything that fits is going straight into the "good" part of my closet. If I can cajole Randy or DD to take pics of me, I'll post anything wearable. And, OF COURSE the hot date outfit...whatever I finally settle on.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your clothes.... reallly hoped you persuaded someone to take pics!!

pineapple!!

My favorite toooooooooo!!!

I have lots of soup recipes.... that are fairly low cal/points. Will have to remember to freeze them. The chili DH makes is pretty healthy too... and would be super easy to health up even more.

I find it a lot easier to cook in the winter than summer. Which is weird cus with produce and fruit and grilling out summer should be super easy too. But I love soup and beans and chili and greens and stuff that are just too hot and heavy to eat in the heat of summer!

My bday is on the 23rd of October. Long live 23-ers! Glad you'll get some time with Baylor!

I am summer cleaning since it did not happen in Spring and the heat finally dissipated here. Remember...no airconditioning all summer!!

You are a braver woman than I!

Why oh why did I decide to see what I am made of this summer of all summers when it is the hottest summer on record? You learn a lot of tricks that they must have used in the old days and honestly, only a few nights were awful.

Glad y'all've survived the worst of it!

Anyway, cleaned out the kitchen drawers and cupboards and sanitized everything inside and out. Feels great!

:worship:

I worked on the fridge before we left for vakay. Love me a clean kitchen!

Sounds YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO BREAD though!

Bread is the devil.

Breaking old habits and wasted calories. Not like the bun ever had flavor - it is just a convenient carrying tool!

Toooo true! Sometimes we eat things out of habit and not out of health or taste. It helps to eat conciously and make decisions about our food instead of just shoveling it in. I'm still working on this!!

Ok sooooooooooooooooo here are a few pics of the wee lil one.

It looks like her eyes are dirty but she has rings around her eyes in that apricot color.

On my lap on the way home. I know it's dangerous to not have her strapped into something but when we brought Lily Bell home we had her in a carrier and she got car sick and puked for a week solid. Wasn't taking that chance again.

I had to hold her still to get this pic. Gives you a little perspective of her size and you can see her markings a little better. She has apricot ears and an apricot spot on her head, apricot rounds on her eyes and one spot on her back.

Oh, and the TR is up! If anyone wants to read along, the link should be in my siggie. Let me know if you can't see it.

Catch you guys later tonight!!

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks Aimee. Darn it, now I'm going to have to track both. I also noticed when I tried out SP that it said I was too high on carbs, while being too low on calories. SO irritating. I know that carbs are my weak point and felt like I was doing pretty good and making better choices, but I'm still too high. Guess I've got my work cut out for me. Well off to SP to see how I did today.
