Yes, Dawn...my parents ARE still speaking to my sister. They're ticked but not uberticked, you know? And my sister Cheryl, asked my mom the same question...why didn't you make her come back here and do some of this? She explained why and I also should add some of the details that point to extenuating circumstances.
The thing is, her hubby walked out on her when their youngest was 3 months old (six months ago) and he was an a**, punching/kicking holes in the walls and throwing bags of garbage down the basement stairs instead of putting them out at the street (THAT cleaning was a nightmare, but one I did not have to share, thankfully). So, much of their anger is being happily shifted onto the deadbeat.
She did her part though, she is a SAHM and apparently an incredibly lousy housekeeper. The rest of us all have borderline OCD complexes about the cleanliness of our houses, mom included so I don't know where she came from.
I have three sisters (and a brother but he doesn't factor in this particular narrative) and I'm the oldest, Jenn is the youngest but I don't know if birth order somehow determines whether or not you are a slob.
Anyway, anything she didn't want (as well as a few things that she did) she just left behind for my parents to deal with, claiming that she would come back and take care of them after the move. A week later she told my mom she didn't have the gas money to come back to Chatham to finish cleaning up the house. My mom wasn't about to give her the money (she owes my mom a bunch of money as it is) and decided it was better to just do it without my sister underfoot.
Mom didn't ASK any of us to help by the way, which was why she was so grateful when we volunteered. My dad who is generally fairly mellow, thanked me personally FOUR TIMES for all the help. This really surprised me, not because he's an ungrateful fellow normally but because I didn't think it was that big of a deal but he obviously did. My parents did a ton for me when I was younger and needed their help more and now I get to return the favour sometimes. I just figured that this was one of those times.
Anyway, that's the whole story but she's still a brat. I know for a fact that she wouldn't have done this under normal circumstances because she would have lost her security deposit but because she didn't have to pay my parents one, they get to deal with all of this. To bad all of my mom's children couldn't have turned out a perfect little
like me.

That was a good one!!
