"Unless you Faint, Puke or Die, KEEP WALKING!" - Jillian Michaels

Hello again! I think I'm finally ready to climb back in the life raft. Have had lots going on this summer and haven't made myself a priority, but it's time to change that! We leave for Orlando in 12 weeks, and I'm determined to make the scale move before then! I know 25 pounds in 12 weeks is doable for most people; a bit of a longshot for me, but I'm going to go for it.

I'll do a full re-intro post with pic later, but I'll catch everyone up on what's been going on here. Last time I posted I mentioned some newly discovered degeneration in my back. Had an MRI done Thursday, will get results back in a week. Pain's been better with occasional rest, so I think I'm gonna get going again with the Biggest Loser Wii game. My Dr. didn't mention any restrictions, so I guess just whatever I can comfortably tolerate.

Haven't gotten much exercise lately (it's soooo hot here in south Louisiana, Patrick can vouch for me on that!) but have been doing a lot of work around the house that should count for some. Ever since we moved in our 3rd bedroom (supposed to be our office) has just been piled up boxes, and I got sick of it and declared war on the room. So imagine all the work it takes to move boxes, storage bins, bookshelves, a bed frame, etc. Now imagine doing it in a wheelchair! Haha, fun times! It's really coming together though, hopefully I can drag DH out of the house to get a desk this weekend. We've got the money in savings (budgeted for as well) but he always freaks when we make a large purchase. Residual from times when we weren't even making it paycheck to paycheck.

We had our nephew over to spend the night last night, and DH just informed me breakfast is ready. I'll finish catching up later!

Hey, I would like to join you guys. My name is Amy and I'm 31 (Soon to be 32 on the 26th of October).

I was on the first one for a little bit in the very beginning. But then I tried to drown or something... I tried to swim on my own and found that I really need the friends. My family is all skinny and does not really understand my struggle. I have a lot to lose. I'm hoping to lose 100 pounds and be very close to my goal weight by time I got to WDW in 2011. It is achievable if I set my mind to it. I've lost 8 pounds and am actually 2 pounds less than I was the first time around on here.

So do you guys think you have room for one more?:upsidedow

Of course we have room for one more!! Welcome aboard Jasperann! Can't wait to read the synopsis of you (ours are posted on the first page) to find out a bit more about you.

Okay friends...a quick update to post my most recent pic...last night's date outfit.

The dress was brand new. Took the tags off to wear it. It's in the donate bag right now. The tie thing in front drove me nuts all night!! I had Picasso ****s because it wouldn't stay in place properly. Plus I hated the colour. But, it was a great date!!

Whew! No way I could get caught up on the old thread, but I did at least read my way through the new one. Nice to see so many new members! And glad to see I'm not the only one who had floated away, but is slowly drifting back.

Crazy crazy busy day today. After three trips to two different Office Depot stores and a trip to Home Depot, I have a desk in my office! And DH already moved my computer! None of the actual desks they had met my needs (a lot were either too low or too tall for the wheelchair, or not a big enough surface for what I wanted) so we kind of ended up creating our own. Used two 27 inch tall filing cabinets, then put a 6ft piece of ready made formica countertop on top. Actually looks pretty good! I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow to share. Oh! And we picked up a new bookshelf for in here; hope to get that put up tomorrow.

Had lunch with my BIL/SIL while we were out shopping, then went over to my sister's house for dinner. Not the greatest food day, and I can't really track calories since I didn't get much of a portion measure, but I did at least keep track of what I did eat. Figure I'd slowly work back into things over this weekend.

Breakfast - scrambled eggs, sausage links (3), biscuit with strawberry jam, chocolate milk, orange juice
Lunch - sushi (split three rolls with DH)
Dinner - baked rigatoni, salad, garlic bread, ice cream for dessert
Misc. beverages: sprite, lemonade, coke, 1/2 bottle of beer
Dessert - single scoop of vanilla ice cream, apple cinnamon topping, one cookie

Not counting myself out, even though I've got WAY more than three strikes against me - hypothyroid, PCOS, paraplegia, carpal tunnel, degenerative disks.
First Name and Screen name: Elizabeth - lizzyb5280

Favorite Good Food for You: Fruit, hummus and tomatoes

Hello Elizabeth and Amy!!! :wave2: Nice to meetcha!
Well I didn't do very well yesterday. Not the greatest choices, but way under on points.
I headed over to mom and dad's at 6 a.m. to get the gardening done before it got too hot, so I skipped breakfast. After picking all the vegs and prepping a few things, I went to Cincinnati with my mom and sis to do some shopping. Had to get litter and ferret food for Bandit, some additional school supplies for the kids, exchange an ink cartridge cause hubby bought the wrong one, etc. etc.
Got home around 2-3, then had to run over to my in-laws to check out their new Impala (jealous!). Got home around 4 p.m. Then had to can the green beans. Didn't take too long, it was only 14 qt this time. Also had to clean up the mess from hubby's construction project - he installed two new cabinets in the kitchen and had to do some plumbing under the sink. When all was said and done, it was after 7 p.m.
Breakfast - 0 Oops.
Lunch - Applebees Paradise Chicken Salad 7pts
Dinner - Chicken Alfredo and bean salad. 12pts. Weird combination of leftovers, but I was starving. Forgot to eat until almost 8 p.m.
Total: 19 pts.
Water: 50 oz. Kept forgetting this too. That's what happens when I run around all day. I also had a diet pop, which I've been trying to avoid.
Excercise: 0. Screwed up my chances of getting in 15 miles this week. I think it ended up being 11 miles total. :guilty:
8/14/10 Done

Going to be heading off to church soon. I've got to can the tomatoes today, so that will take a while. And still need to clean the house, do the grocery shopping, and give the ferret a bath/deep clean his cage. Gonna be another busy day, but I'll try to do better and hope to have time left for a walk in the "cool" :lmao: of the evening.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Where did you find those shoes?? Are the straps elastic/stretchy?? Looks like a pair I would LOVE!!!! Where can I find them??
Glad you had a great time, you look fantastic. Too bad the dress didn't work out, it looks really cute too.

tough week ya'll. I haven't posted at all, haven't done a journal either. I'm worried about what the scale will say on Monday for sure.

Last night was a mess. Hubby had a wedding (NO CAKE FOR ME!!!! I was sooo proud of myself!) and when it was over we went to see the 1130pm showing of The Expendables. When we came out of the theater there were police and fire and emt everywhere! There was an upside down car in the parking lot that was just shredded. The theater has a big hill in front of it and evidently a sports car headed north veered all the way over the median, across the southbound lanes, struck a pole, and rolled down the hill. The scary part too is that there was a jeep cherokee (ish) in front of the sports car. When the little car hit the pole, the pole snapped so hard that it flew all the way across 4 lanes and hit the front of the Jeep! The electricity arc blew the back tires on Jeep, but those 3 people were just shakin up. Can you imagine?

Ugh. All we could think of was that somebody got a phone call last night that changed their life. Bad bad news. I definitely will put that family on the prayer list. I mean you just never know.

Been trying to post but I have a popup virus:surfweb:, so I'm in the middle of typing and the computer freezes or, well, has a popup and I look up and what I've been typing isn't there. :scared1: So I had this great long response and responded to so many things and now it's gone :sad2:

One I do remember is Patrick asked what I teach; sweet little people who make me laugh every day - I teach elementary special education to kids w/ Down Syn, Autism, Hearing Loss.... The most special little people in the world!

That said, I've been eating thru my worries or stress as a teacher for years! SO glad I can get on here and chat with and read up on my peeps.

Aimee - I want your dog! AHHHHHHHHHH! So cute!

Stayathome...love the shoes! They look comfy - are they?

Here's to a good day everyone - drink lotsa water and stay cool :thumbsup2

FYI - I'm going to be smaller than Tigger next time...

Not sure why that is so large.....

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks Aimee. Darn it, now I'm going to have to track both. I also noticed when I tried out SP that it said I was too high on carbs, while being too low on calories. SO irritating. I know that carbs are my weak point and felt like I was doing pretty good and making better choices, but I'm still too high. Guess I've got my work cut out for me. Well off to SP to see how I did today.

Glad it made sense!! It was a real eye opener... If we do WW again, which we are always talking about maybe joining up again... I know I need to double track for a while to get my fats and cals balanced.

Good luck!!

:welcome: back Amy!!! So glad you're back! I'm just getting back in the swing of things as well. We can re-commit together! You are exactly 362 days older than I am. :teacher: I'll be 31 on the 23rd of October. You actually have my dog sitting friend's birthday. LOL

I was on the first one for a little bit in the very beginning. But then I tried to drown or something... I tried to swim on my own and found that I really need the friends.

Same here! Swimming on your own stinks!

Congrats on skipping the cake!

Sooooooo sad to hear about that wreck! Can't imagine being the Jeep and don't want to imagine getting the phone call. :sad2:

Sending prayers their way!

I can't type because I have a pop up puppy! :rotfl: She keeps stepping on the laptop keyboard and I lose my whole post. My older one has already learned not to do that... but the puppy doesn't really care if Momma is typing on the DIS!

One I do remember is Patrick asked what I teach; sweet little people who make me laugh every day - I teach elementary special education to kids w/ Down Syn, Autism, Hearing Loss.... The most special little people in the world!

I may have already mentioned this... forgive me if I have, 200 pages of posts is a lot to remember. My sister is a diagnostician. She works with the same sweet little people. When she's having a hard day, she'll go sit in the classroom and help the kids sort colors or whatever they are doing that day. Helps remind her why she does it!

That said, I've been eating thru my worries or stress as a teacher for years! SO glad I can get on here and chat with and read up on my peeps.

Aimee - I want your dog! AHHHHHHHHHH! So cute!

Awwww thanks!! But ya can't have her.

Had an interesting weekend. Getting back into the swing of things after vacation is always kinda hard... a bit of a bummer. School starting in a little over week is freaking me out a bit. How is my baby starting 2nd grade? It was just yesterday I was dreading him starting kindergarten and then boom... 2nd grade? And the really sad thing is I realize that time is not going to slow down... not for a long time. It's gonna speed up. So I'm dealing with that... not badly... just processing. I know I'll be ok but it's something I go through every year. It'll probably be worse when DS2 starts school. They grow up soooooooooooooo fast!!!!!

I've been doing a lot of thinking about what makes me succeed and what makes me fail. Why some days I eat everything in the house and why somedays it's super easy to turn down no no foods.

One thing I have realized is that I have have have to take more ownership of the grocery buying and food cooking in our house. I've depended on hubby for that role. It's his business... his passion... his hobby... so therefore he got the food duties.

But with the number of hours he works, it's not working. He's not cooking nearly as much as he used to and if he's not cooking it doesn't work for him to buy the groceries. I go to the fridge and feel like a duck out of water. We end up freezing half the things because my cooking creativity doesn't work the way his does.

For example, last night I went to look for something to make dinner with and ended up ordering fried chicken delivery.

:guilty:

And I set myself up for failure because I didn't plan out the meals for the week, I didn't go to the store (DH did), and I didn't want to cook what he had bought for me to cook.

So I'm commiting here and now to change this. It seems so simple but the kitchen and grocery shopping are pretty daunting to me with a chef for a husband!

I cooked for my exhusband all the time, cook for my mom and dad... but I've got a mental block about cooking for DH. Gotta get over it. For my own health!

If I don't cook for myself, I can't expect to eat healthy. PERIOD.

I can't eat out all the time... even making smart choices it adds up budget wise too quickly.

I can't order delivery all the time. There are rarely healthy delivery choices and the budget again adds up too quickly.

I can't eat sandwiches all the time... because I get sick of em!

So I'm gonna use the new school year as a motivator to plan meals and cook more and own it!!

I'm gonna weigh in tomorrow. And am prepared for a gain. Owning it and moving forward!!

See you guys tomorrow for weigh in!!!!!! Good luck everyone! :goodvibes

My baby is starting second grade this year too. She's my youngest. I can hardly believe it!!

I went out to eat with my girlfriend today. I was helping go through some clothes and providing general motivation to declutter some stuff in her house (it's pretty bad!). She took me out to Green Mill as an early b-day dinner. We do that on each other's birthdays. I am sure I ate way too much! But I did pass on the dessert! No room!
I'm sitting home drinking lots of water tonight and might even exercise before I go to bed. Tomorrow's weigh in might not be pretty. I haven't been tracking. Going to start again.

Let's see if I can remember today's food:
B: two eggs, two pieces bacon, coffee w/ cream &sugar
L: blueberries, almonds, 1/2 panera blueberry bagel w/ light cream cheese
D: 1/3 portion of pasta/chicken dish at Green mill, 2 Thai spring rolls, one piece garlic chicken bacon pizza (our eyes were WAY bigger than our stomachs!) iced tea w/lemon and 1 packet sugar
S: one slice zucchini bread

I'm pretty sure that's it. Doesn't look all that healthy for weight loss! I'm afraid to look up the calories/fat on those green mill dishes!

Hello my name is Aimee and I'm a drifter.

Hello, fellow drifter! See, this is one of the great things about this group. At least if we're stuck adrift, we can drift together! And of course we can also work together to paddle ourselves back to Skinny Island.

Much of the office still needs to be fixed up, and one wall is currently stacked quite high with boxes of stuff for garage sale, but here are a couple of pictures as promised. First my new "desk", which looks even better than I had hoped for, and is absolutely the perfect height and length for my needs.

100_4080.jpg

This is the view behind my computer screen, overlooking my back yard. I chose the layout of our house so that I could enjoy the view of our property, so bringing my plans to reality is quite gratifying.

100_4082.jpg

On the healthy eating front, Sunday could have been better (not much veggies to speak of), but also not the worst (nothing really high cal/fat/carb). I didn't prepare any of our meals (lunch was at DH's grandma's house, dinner at his twin brother's house) so that made it a bit harder. Had a couple of non-diet sodas today; woke up with a major tension headache this morning, and often the full caffeine, real sugar sodas will help knock them out.

Breakfast - 1/2 a biscuit with strawberry jam
Lunch - Shrimp stew over rice, small slice of cheesecake with strawberries
Dinner - Red beans & rice w/ sausage (they also served mashed potatoes :confused3 but I skipped those)
Dessert - Two cookies
Beverages - Coke, Sunkist, sweet tea

Definitely gonna have to rock out the produce tomorrow! Also planning to start tracking on Spark again tomorrow.

My baby is starting second grade this year too. She's my youngest. I can hardly believe it!!
It never ends, I promise. My baby is in fifth grade this year. If time continues to speed up like this, i don't know how I'm going to keep up. I still remember packing his first baby clothes (we knew he was going to be our last baby) and how much of a bummer it was, and now he's wearing size 10s!!!
Good for you, don't give up. Don't let one day or one meal derail you!!!

Hi all.

WELCOME! To all the new members!

Quick update (seems like I'm doing a lot of "quick updates" but my to-do list is a million miles long... Junior Year is making it that long.)
Hope you are at least having fun! I know I'm going to sound just like a parent (which, of course, I am ), but really ENJOY THESE YEARS!!!

Much of the office still needs to be fixed up, and one wall is currently stacked quite high with boxes of stuff for garage sale, but here are a couple of pictures as promised. First my new "desk", which looks even better than I had hoped for, and is absolutely the perfect height and length for my needs. We did something similar for our kids' desks. DS has two filing cabinets (with smaller drawers - about six or seven?) supporting a wooden top (which started its life as a large bathroom cabinet door for my sister's house - it wasn't perfectly square so it was replaced and the original set in her basement for a couple years before we snagged it. Looks great!) Yours looks great-I love the countertop! Another plus, it will be very durable!
What is it with weekends? Sounds like a lot of us get off-track then. Myself included.
Definitely gonna have to rock out the produce tomorrow! Also planning to start tracking on Spark again tomorrow.

Alright, tracking...
8/15/10
Breakfast: coffee, grapefruit. 3pts.
Lunch: hard boiled eggs, watermelon. 6 pts.
Dinner: hamburger, baked french fries. 11 pts.
Total: 20 pts.
Excercise: 3 miles. (At least I'm off to a good start this week. Planning to meet that goal of 15 miles this week.)
Water: 64oz. Okay, but I'm having a hard time getting in more than this, will have to keep working on it.
8/15/10 Done

Well, once again, I let my weekend get in the way of good eating. Almost no veggies, too low on points, didn't do well with the water. I guess I'm going to have to really focus on the weekends. We just never seem to have enough time. On the up side, we did get a lot done this weekend. Canned tomatoes and green beans, got the house cleaned, shopping done, ferret bathed and cage cleaned. Finishing up the laundry this AM. So I guess I shouldn't complain. Hope everyone has a great day and a good weigh-in. I'm thrilled to report -5 Today!!!

GOOD MORNING!

I'm -.8 this week to put me at (188.2). Woo! Now off to school!

- Patrick
