When buying resale, do you have to buy a minimum of 100 point?

At the Disney Vacation Club presentation they told us that we could not buy less than 100 points to start out. They said that we had to buy 100 points to have a home resort. Is that true for resale as well?

You can find contracts for a few as 25 points on the resale market.

You just have to purchase what is available via resale. I know we sold a 100 point and a 75 point contract and had a 50 point contract that we withdrew from sale.

The smaller contracts (under 100 points) go quickly so you have to act fast..and they are usually priced a bit higher since they are more desirable (but still way less than buying direct through DVC). You might also want to contact the brokers and get on their e-mailing lists so they can send you the new listings as they come out.

Thank you so much! What a great tip! Do you have any brokers you recommend?

We want to buy into the DVC, but want to do it gradually. I understand that buying resale is the way to go. I just wanted to make sure that the same rules did not apply. Our Disney DVC person made us feel like we could not ever purchase less than 100 points on our first purchase.

DVC guides are not going to tell you about the resale market. Some of them may even try to keep you from purchasing resale by giving you incorrect information about the resale market.

I have used or tried to use 4 different brokers. I have used and recommend the Timeshare store at www.dvcstore.com...and have also used Shontell at www.dvcbyresale.com and she is good. I tried to use Fidelity (at http://fidelityresales.com/dvc.php) once and it didn't go well, so I don't think I'll use them again (they don't work weekends or evenings and are slow to get back to you...unlike the Timeshare Store). Happy hunting for your contract.

I second this -- if you want a small contract, less resale brokers know and get on their mailing lists. Those small contracts get snatched up fast.

Hope you find a good contract soon!
