What's your state's average IQ

Looks like someone's trying to pick a fight!

How about making it really personal? What's your IQ and who did you vote for?

*erased*

IQ tests are very unreliable for a number of reasons.

Beyond that statement, I'm not getting into it. Never mind. I don't think this is going to be a very nice thread after about 5 minutes.

Humm lets just say my I.Q. is WELL over my state's average and I voted for Bush.

I love snopes.com so would really be interested in a link to this list (or similar) on their site. I tried to find it but couldn't.

Thanks!

Voted for Bush

===========

Just because a state "goes" for a certain candidate, doesn't mean that the entire state voted that way. Look at all the red in states that went "blue"

CT... the most intelligent state according to this went 44% Bush, 54% Kerry.

Lastly, average IQ and votes do not logically corrolate. One measures the population who voted... not all Americans. The other is an average of some random sampling (not sure how the sample was derived to get those averages, since there is not a national standardized IQ test.)

I'm not trying to pick a fight. I vote for folks in both parties. I just think polarizing people further is not good.

I couldn't find this debunked on snopes. Please post a link to the page. Thanks.

There is no difference in what the chart shows and what the fake article states.

IQ of 60 and I voted for Dale Earnhardt Jr ;)

Uuuuuuh, yes, there is.

The link posted by crazygoofy is a chart that correlates average IQ with how that state voted in the presidential election, althought the author of the chart does admit some difficulty authenticating the IQ numbers, he says they do correlate well with SAT/ACT indications of IQ's for high school graduates in the respective states. It may or may not be accurate, as annotated by the author.

The snopes article is a spoof, intended as a joke, stating that great percentages of those with high IQ's would not vote for Bush.

Darn, that was a choice? When was I suppose to vote? ;)

I don't know if that IQ chart is a joke or not (it appears to be housed on a photographers website?), but if education is any indication here are results from the last 2 elections (I hope the graph comes out o.k.)

Then we would have to argue if education = intelligence. I would certainly say no. You can be brilliant, but not have the means to afford school. You can also be an idiot and have parents who can pay for you to get a Doctorate in Basketweaving. You could also argue that when you have Post-graduate study, you are more likely to be brainwashed by liberal (or conservative! depending on your school) propaganda.

edited to fix chart
