How'd you like the rooms, food court (what there is of one), pool, distance from DTD, etc.

Rooms = A+
Food Court = B
Pool(s) = B+
Distance = A
:)

I found SSR to be absolutely wonderful. Surpassed all expectations. Loved the quiet pool area more than the themed pool. Did not mind the distance to walk to the food court (I mean you're at Disney.. you walk miles everyday! hehehe) and really liked the walk to DTD (great stroll! Great scenery and atmosphere).

There isn't anything I don't like about the place.. even though I've only been there for 1 week so far it will probably be my place of choice (after I get at least 1 stay in the other DVC resorts! Yay!) just because I love DTD.

I love SSR. Stayed in a studio for Christmas 2004 and a 2-bedroom in March 2005.
Great view of DTD and only a 8-10 minute walk from the rooms in Congress Park. Artist's Palette is small and has a limited food selection but the food is wonderful and the prices are reasonable. If you need more selection, it is easy to walk to DTD and get what you need.

The grounds are beautiful and both pools are very nice. High Rock Springs has a great slide, a zero-entry pool and a splash/spray pad for the kids. The quiet pool is a nice option as well. Each of the pool locations has a "hot tub". I can't think of any negatives.

We loved it when we stayed there last October.
Our home is OKW but we decided to try SSR because it was new.
Rooms were very nice with two very minor observations;
1. not enough closet space.
2. the couch was just okay.
Food Court;
1. very nice
2. had a turkey sandwich and a wonderful salad. both great.
Nice areas to walk.
Once SSR is complete it will be top of the line.
We will stay there again.
We have been owners since 1993 and other than OKW this is the only other
DVC we have stayed at but it was worth it.

I love SSR! :love:
The rooms are quite comfy (I've only stayed in a studio so far) the sofa bed is actually quite comfortable, not the old fashioned kind with the bar. They decor seems sort of 'upscale', soft tones, etc. Love having a patio and starting the morning off there w/coffee and ending the evening there relaxing.
I know some folks aren't thrilled with the dining, but it suited me just fine, when the resort is completed, hopefully they will thinking of expanding the dining options, but they don't need a big restaurant until it's sold out, IMO.
I didn't spend any time at the main pool, because I had the quiet pool at Congress Park, right outside my patio, and spent 2 mornings relaxing in the hot tub. The distance form DTD wasn't too bad at all. Maybe 10 minutes, but I loved the stroll, very relaxing, good exercise, great view of DTD.
Can ya tell I love SSR :rotfl:
It's the only DVC resort I've stayed at so far, though, just so you know. I would like to try the rest some day, but for the next few years, it's SSR for me! Is it November yet? :rotfl:

Another advantage of SSR, if you have a car you are very close to grocery stores and fast food restaurants if you need them.

SSR is a very nice resort and the proximity to DTD is just great!

That said, I believe I will only stay there again if I am planning on a vacation away from the parks. I appreciate the location of BC BWV and VWL for park purposes. SSR is a great location for doing things outside of Disney, being so close to the exit.

Have not stayed yet but glad to hear the positive input. DTD is not a draw for us but SSR looks great.

Thank you. I think we'll like it. We always drive down and it is close to the exit and DTD. After last summer & how hot is was (we only did 2 parks last year)..we decided to only do 1 or 2 parks each year (when we go to WDW, that is). We've gone 2x in late Jan/early Feb and got spoiled. We've stayed at BWV, BCV, and this year SSR. We'd like to try all the DVC resorts out. So far BCV is our fave. With a newly turned 2 yo SSR will work best for us. We had to lug our HUGE travel system stroller on the bus (sooo not fun). I like being near a lot of things. When McKenna gets a little older then we'll try VWL, OKW, HH and Vero. Thanks for the input!

How is it getting to the parks from SSR? We're staying there at the end of May, basically because we couldn't get our first choice. I like the idea of trying it out, but I don't care that much about DTD and I'm worried that getting to the parks will be a pain.

Any thoughts?

I had no problem with bus transportation at all. Maybe luck? Who knows, could be. The busses were never crowded, the longest I had to wait for a bus was 15 minutes once, again timing has to come in to play there. The longest bus ride (I timed it) was going from SSR to AK, as they stopped at Blizzard Beach also, was approx 25 minutes. Which is a little long, I realize, but I wasn't too worried about it, it was vacation after all.

I thought bus service was adequate. Not too quick, not too slow but just right. It was definitely better than some of the BW buses we had in February. Again, it was probably a combination of good luck with SSR and bad luck with the Boardwalk; neither bus at either resort were particularly crowded probably due to the season.

We stayed there last October. The rooms were well appointed, but we thought the door configuration was awful. Too many doors in too small a space, making it very difficult for someone to be using the sink/dressing area if someone else is coming or going from the bathroom (studio or second bedroom). It was very quiet, which was nice, but we didn't find the views to be to our liking. We had a DTD view above the neighborhood pool, and it was just okay. We much prefer the views at our OKW home. Thought the food court was a joke, but the building it was in was very nice. Lobby was special too. We found the bus service to be very good....almost as good as OKW. Liked the granite counters...nice touch. Liked the little small town main street feel of the commons area, but it seemed like the buildings were too large to fit the scenario.
