What's your favorite/worse FAIR ride?

Anything in a rotational motion! I've pretty much stuck to the strawberries  and the tilt-a-whirl. I thought the TAW was literally going to make me sick! I must have yelled loud enough because the guy stopped it to let me off. Never getting on any rides like that again. :crazy2:

I have to mention that the TAW was my favorite ride in my younger days. DH used to hate it. I could never understand why. LOL! Now I do!! :crazy2:

I lost my lunch on a Tilt-A-Whirl when I was young because I thought the guy running the ride was cute. I must have ridden it twenty times- But I was young and stupid.

I used to live near Gibsonton Florida where all the carnies live on their months off and alot of old side show freaks have retired there. It's an interesting place. One of the requirements for being a carnie is drinking and smoking. How else could you do that job?
It's like watching laundry tumble dry all day.

I love this kind of ride but I don't know what it's actually called:

I'm scared to death of ferris wheels particularly big ones and the Zipper.

I'm another party-pooper that stays away from carnivals. The ones I have seen locally are in such poor condition that I'm afraid to get anywhere near them. And the ride operators...:scared1:
Don't mean to stereotype, but most of them look and smell so dirty. I'll just save my ride money for Disney!!!

Favorites:
The Super Loop. I think it has a new name now. This is the ride that is basically a vertical loop in which a little "train" travels around and around and around, then stops at the top, then goes around and around in the other direction. This forces experienced on this ride are quite good.

You've got to love walking by all the freak shows: smallest horse/woman/etc; drug abuse guy, gorilla woman, snake woman, but no-one ever goes in these right ;)

Worst:
The ride though "spook houses" in which none of the effects work, so it amounts to just a ride in the dark. As a kid, the thought of going in these terrified us. We'd stand there out front trying to get up the courage to go in.

Any of the kiddie rides which consists of cars/motorcycles/trucks/boats/etc which travel in a circle and make noise. You know what I mean: every vehicle has at least one horn button in it, so when the ride starts all you hear is earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk earnk DADDY CAN WE RIDE AGAIN!!!???

My favorites are the scrambler and the tilt-a-whirl. Least favorite-faris wheel. I really don't like the idea of being that high up in something that is put together and taken apart every couple days.

Great minds must think alike. ;) Look at my post.

I've never been a big fan. There's just something fishy about a ride that is folded up one minute and 30 feet in the air the next. Doesn't make me feel safe. However, there is one that is on the ground that I have always loved... The Sizzler/Scrambler (people call it different things.) I figure if it malfunctions the worst that will happen is that I will fly 10-20 feet in the air rather than falling out of the sky

Planogirl - even looking at that picture of the Zipper made me queasy! There was a little amuzement park in Wichita, KS (I used to live in Derby) where you could get ride tickets as rewards for good performance on your report card. I tried the Zipper once and cried the whole time.

When I was a kid my favorite ride was the Salt and Pepper Shakers. Now the thought of getting on that thing makes me feel a little sick. We saw one in Old Town last week when we were in Orlando and of course my boys begged to go on it. All those good rides in WDW and they wanted to go on those crappy carnival rides, LOL!

Like a pp, I don't like carnival rides, but I love going to the carnival! It makes me feel like a kid again. :D

:yo-yo: SRUAlmn...too funny!! My feeling EXACTLY on the Scrambler (which is what I call it). I tell myself that if my DD's and I get thrown off, we'll maybe break an arm or something...

Other than that, my family doesn't ride carnival rides - way to scary to think about the fold (or throw??)-away pieces and the folks running them. DMIL always takes us to a Hot-Air Balloon festival around here and that Scrambler is the only thing I'll let the girls ride other than the kiddo rides on the ground!

What's worse, the rides cost as much as a ride's worth at Disney!!

I absolutely used to love the freak show! I got obsessed with the snake man.;)

I wouldn't walk into one of those now! (ick)

I hated the fun house. Too many moving, shaky things.:earseek:

I hate hate hate ferris wheels. Everything else I can handle.
