Yes, I have dropped off and picked up others at airports. The last time was in December, and wasn’t a local airport. We were out of state and another family member was flying in to meet us there, so I had to do an airport run when they arrived, and again when they departed.

I have dropped off and picked people up at the airport. However, it has been quite a few years since I have done it! Now I tend to be a passenger in the car.

Yes, we are a 15 min drive without traffic. LOL, That is not the case unless you do it at perhaps midnight. Traffic has been insane lately. We actually have family to pickup Wednesday, they are coming in for the Grand Prix this weekend.

We live about 20 minutes from the airport so we're frequently taking others. Two weeks ago we got up at 3:30 am to take my sister and her family for their trip the Philippines to visit family. We pick them up at midnight this Wednesday.

We leave for Aruba on Saturday, but we drive ourselves. As airport volunteers, we get free parking!

Not recently, but have done it in the past. Larger airports now have 'cell phone lots' where those picking up someone who is arriving can wait. Very convenient and you don't to drive around trying to find a place to park/wait or clog up the arrival areas. If you live 1+hr from the airport, most friends/relatives I know would rather drive themselves rather than impose on someone else. If you live nearer to the airport, perhaps makes that more practical. Arriving flights might be delayed which can be a nuisance for the person who is picking you up.

If visiting friends/relatives out of town, we rather rent a car than expect them to be our taxi service. Having our own car also gives us more flexibility on when we might decide to go somewhere.

It's probably been 6 or 7 or so years but we did drop off and pick up our son at the Atlanta airport a number of times. I've picked up my parents and brother's there too many times to count a long time ago. Atlanta airport has a pick up lot where you can go park for free, you get the text from your person they are there and you just go through the pick up lanes. We have been dropped off at the Atlanta airport too many times to count by car services, picked up too. Back when we were scuba diving on a regular basis, it was cheaper to take a car service from Athens then to take the truck and park it in long term parking. We had to use the truck because scuba gear required two large check in suitcases plus two carry ons plus two personal items.

I've gone to airports to plane watch or watch an air show, but I've never been inside an airport myself. I've never dropped anyone off or picked anyone up from the airport myself.

When I was in college my friends and I would drive out to O'Hare and watch the 747s land and take off. That's back when they had an observation deck outside. That was so much fun. :thumbsup2

That would be weekly. When your spouse no longer works at the airport you live by and has to commute, you help by dropping him off and saving valuable time not having to park and catch the employee bus. Small sacrifices. DD now helps out too. :) ... she was the one who kept us here after all.

@slo, wishing your daughter a great trip. She will be fine on the solo trip. Personally, I loved the independence of going solo when I young, hopefully she will feel the same. I know my daughter loved it when she flew by herself to aviation camp when she was 15 years old. Growing up as an airline kid she has been all over and knew the ATL airport well enough for us to feel comfortable having her catch a connecting flight. But we definitely were texting/calling and watching Life360 to make sure it all went smoothly.

It seems like it's getting harder and harder to find areas around the airports where you can plane watch. I still try to do it when I have the opportunity, but they don't make it easy at all in some areas.

I personally have never dropped anyone off or picked anyone up. My friends all live much closer to the airport than I do, so I would be their last resort. When I was a child my parents picked up my dad’s best friend once and then dropped him off to fly home. I was in the car, so that’s as close as I have come to doing it.

My 10+ mile drive (there are 3 different routes) takes a minimum of 25 minutes. Our last uber from the airport took 45 minutes.

Yes, pickup and drop off all the time. Both homes we own are 20-30 mins from a major airport. We did that for convenience, since my husband and I traveled for work. We also have adult kids that live in other states that come to visit and it makes it easy to get them to and from the airport.

Always happy to a drop off or pick up if asked, but I try not to make the request of others if its early morning or late night. Uber is just too easy.

I'm usually the one thats getting dropped off and picked up from the airport 😂 but I have and do give others lifts too if and when I can. The airport near me is only 22 miles away and without traffic can be done in less than half an hour, which is a better alternative to public transport or expensive taxis. Seems to be an unspoken agreement with friends and family that we give each other lifts to/from the airport and repay each other in turn.

My son and oldest Granddaughter flew up from Southern California for the Memorial Day weekend, so picked them up an dropped them off.
My daughter will be flying in from Germany in a couple of months and booked into San Francisco, so that will be a 110 mile trip each way to pick her up and then back at the end of her stay.. The air fares were so much cheaper, I get it.
We will go a little early and go to my parents graves as they are 3 miles from the airport, and my Grandparents graves which are 7 miles away. I haven't been in a couple of years. The timing will be good, as my dad's 115th birthday would have been a few weeks before as is what would have been my parents 75th wedding anniversary.

Dropped off and picked up at the airport (always O'Hare) (more pickups) but many years ago. None in recent years.

@slo, how was the drop-off experience, pretty quick and easy? Wishing Katie a great trip. She'll be fine, mom.'s
It went really smooth, but it also was 3am, so there was no traffic, which was great! Thank you for the well wishes for Katie. She made it there safely and said everything went smooth 🙂👍🏻

Thank you for the well wishes for DD21. She did great and she even texted me saying how proud she is of herself 🙂

I actually had to drop off a colleague at O'Hare last week. We were working in Carol Stream and I said I'd drop him off before I continued on my way home. Have family that will fly up every other year or so and will usually pick them up and drop them off if they aren't renting a car.

🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 hmmm.. well... if it wasn't for the sonic fast food next door to the Yuma airport I would not participate in the number 3 reason folks live/winter here... but I will not travel the 3 hours across the horrid desert to the mess of a airport Phoenix....
